Bringing the Price of Senzu Beans Down

"Then, Shenron, could you create a plant that recycles life energy like oxygen, constantly releasing more through photosynthesis?"

Korin immediately understood what Gamos had in mind. He couldn't help but give an approving nod.

As the saying went, it was better to teach someone to fish than to give them a fish. Only renewable resources could support sustainable development.

Hearing the wish, Shenron was at a loss for words. What did he take life energy for, cabbage?

It was the source of life, an extremely rare form of energy.

Still, this was much more reasonable than asking for infinite energy. Shenron immediately began working on it.

Before long, Shenron spoke again.

"Such a plant did once exist. It's called Origin Grass, a weedlike organism that's very easy to grow. The only problem is that it consumes a great deal of energy. The simulated sun in your space doesn't produce nearly enough."

"Can it use any kind of energy?"

"Yes!"

With that confirmation, Gamos was overjoyed. If it could use any kind of energy, then this wouldn't be a problem at all.

Energy in this world wasn't conserved to begin with. All he had to do was eat and exercise, and he'd gain the power to destroy a planet with ease. Under those rules, calling it infinite energy didn't seem like much of a stretch!

Speaking of infinite energy, Androids seemed to possess that ability. Infinite stamina—what could make a better partner?

With the energy problem solved, Gamos asked how many times stronger the sunlight needed to be. When Shenron answered that it needed to be three times stronger, Gamos nodded in satisfaction.

"If I ask for some Senzu Bean seedlings, how many could I get with one wish?"

"Ten thousand plants. Senzu Beans aren't meant to exist in the mortal world, so ten thousand is the limit."

"What about Origin Grass?"

"There are as many Origin Grass seeds as you want. If you ask for the grass itself, one wish can get you up to a hundred million plants!"

That sounded like a lot. It seemed Origin Grass really wasn't worth much.

Just then, the Grand Elder spoke up.

"Gamos, I think you'd be better off asking for seeds. We Namekians have a magic spell that can speed up the growth of plants."

At the Grand Elder's words, Gamos was delighted. That was even better.

"Great, let's do that!"

"Shenron, for my first wish, give me ten thousand Senzu Bean seedlings. For my second wish, give me enough Origin Grass seeds to cover ten thousand acres. For my third wish, give me three Spirit Fruit Tree seeds. Make sure you send them right in front of me."

Hearing his request, Shenron said, "Please make your wishes in the Namekian language!"

Uh, this Shenron really was stubborn.

The Grand Elder then translated Gamos's wishes. Shenron's eyes glowed red, and he gave an OK sign.

"Your wishes have been granted. Farewell."

With that, Porunga vanished, returning to the Dragon Balls, which flew off in seven different directions.

"Thanks, Grand Elder."

Gamos thanked him. The Grand Elder had really helped him out this time. He'd never imagined that Senzu Beans were so special that they weren't even supposed to exist in the mortal world.

It seemed Senzu Beans, like the Tree of Might, were divine plants.

With the wishes fulfilled, a huge pile of Senzu Bean seedlings and another huge pile of seeds appeared in front of Gamos.

Korin, who had been standing nearby, couldn't help widening his eyes at the enormous number of Senzu Bean seedlings.

Just look at all those seedlings! What a sight! And there was a mountain of seeds beside them, too.

Gamos took out a Capsule Corp Capsule, packed ten pounds of seeds into it, then handed it to Korin.

"Here, these seeds are for you. You won't have to tend to the Senzu Beans all by yourself anymore."

Korin accepted them, but had no intention of planting any.

"As Shenron said, Origin Grass needs a tremendous amount of energy, so it's difficult to grow. Besides, I've grown used to raising Senzu Beans. I'm not bored, and I don't want to take shortcuts, so I won't be planting any."

"I'll hold on to these seeds. They may come in handy someday."

Korin put the seeds away, then gestured toward the huge pile of seedlings and seeds beside them.

"When it comes to growing Senzu Beans, no one has more experience than I do. Want me to teach you?"

"I'd be honored."

And so, the man and cat began their farming operation.

Gamos fired a ki blast, clearing twenty acres of farmland in one go. Then he used the transformation technique he'd learned from Puar to turn himself into an automatic tractor and plowed the entire field.

Finally, he planted the seedlings sparsely, leaving more than a meter between each pair.

After all that work, Korin was exhausted. He sat down on the ground without a shred of dignity.

"I'm beat, I'm beat! This isn't a job for a person. Planting a few dozen seedlings is a nice little hobby, but plant ten thousand and you're a farmer!"

With a splash, Gamos emerged from the lake nearby.

He couldn't help complaining. "There really aren't any animals here. There isn't a single fish in a lake this big."

After putting away all the Origin Grass seeds, Gamos began planning his next move.

Origin Grass needed a lot of energy to grow, and there clearly wasn't enough right now. What if he planted all the seeds and they died?

So Gamos decided not to plant them right away. He would wait until he'd dealt with the Androids, then come back to plant them.

By then, he'd have an Infinite Energy Furnace. He'd hang it in the sky and set its range. Only then could he truly bring the price of Senzu Beans down.

As for the Tree of Might, Gamos planned to wait until the life energy had grown dense enough before planting it. Its fruit was wonderful stuff: it could increase one's strength without any side effects, though it did consume a planet.

Legend had it that the fruit was originally divine. When planted in the mortal world, the tree drained all the nutrients from the planet because the soil wasn't rich enough. But on Planet of the Supreme Kai, which was filled with God Ki, that wouldn't be a concern.

Gamos wanted to see whether the Tree of Might could grow in his space once the life energy became dense enough.

"Let's head back!"

At Korin's urging, Gamos used his authority to take the big white cat out of his space.

Back on Korin Tower, Gamos immediately said goodbye and prepared to leave in search of the Androids.

"Wait, take this."

Korin took out an old book and handed it to him.

"Remember to give it back after you've read it."

Gamos took the book. There was no title on the cover, but when he opened it, he saw that it contained a small magic spell.

It was a little spell for controlling life energy. Life energy was invisible and intangible, so it was difficult to control, but this spell solved that problem.

"Thanks!"

The book wasn't thick, only about a dozen pages. Gamos could read a page at a glance and remember it all, so he finished in less than a minute, then handed the book back.

"I've memorized all of it!"

With that, Gamos raised a hand. The life energy around them began to fluctuate, then gathered toward him.

Korin's half-lidded eyes flew open. What kind of freak was this? He'd learned it after one look?

When Korin had learned it, he'd practiced day and night for three whole years. Comparing himself to Gamos was enough to drive anyone mad.

Gamos dispersed the gathered life energy and couldn't help feeling a little disappointed.

"Aw, I guess my talent still isn't good enough. I'm so clumsy at controlling it."

At that shamelessly smug expression, Korin angrily picked up his staff and started shooing him away.

"Go on, get out of here!"

And just like that, Gamos was kicked out.

All in all, he'd gained a lot from the trip and had solved nearly every problem. The only downside was that the space wasn't his. He only had a ring that granted him control over it.

Besides, he also had the Time Ring. He had no idea whether he'd still be able to connect to the space if he went to another world.

"Guess I'll take things as they come. I really don't want to go looking for the Super Dragon Balls."

Just then, Gamos felt two powerful energies colliding. They must have been fighting.

"That ki... is that Vegeta? And who's he fighting?"

Out in the wilderness, Sun Wukong, Piccolo, and the others stood atop a tall hill, watching the battle in the distance with keen interest.

In the sky, a figure wreathed in golden light swung his fists furiously, attacking his opponent.

Across from him was a fat pink man wearing gloves and a blue cape, with a little feeler growing from his head.

It was none other than Majin Buu.

"You're strong, but you're still no match for me."

Majin Buu grabbed Vegeta's fist, smiling. Then his narrowed eyes opened, revealing an evil grin, and he punched Vegeta squarely in the stomach.

"Boom!"

Majin Buu made a booming sound with his mouth, and Vegeta went flying like a kite with its string cut.

Vegeta crashed through several mountains, kicking up a cloud of dust.

"How is this possible? There's a monster this powerful in the world?!"

Lying among the rubble, Vegeta couldn't believe his eyes. He was a complete mess, his clothes in tatters and flecked with blood.

He shoved aside the rocks pinning him down, powered up, and charged in again.

"Take this—Big Bang Attack!"

He pulled his left hand back and turned his right palm upward, pressing it against his left palm. A blue sphere of energy gathered there. With a mighty shout, Vegeta fired it as a beam of energy.

Facing the powerful attack, Majin Buu didn't dodge or retreat. He simply raised both hands and blocked it outright.

The energy wave, which should have shot straight into the sky, seemed to hit an obstacle. No matter how hard it pushed, it couldn't move forward.

"Hee-hee-hee! My turn."

Majin Buu raised both hands and flung the enormous energy beam into the sky. Then he opened his mouth wide and fired back with a pink energy beam.

"What?!"

Seeing his attack easily blocked and Majin Buu retaliate with a mouth blast, the proud Prince Vegeta decided to try catching it himself, determined to prove he was no weaker than his opponent.

But when Vegeta crossed his arms, the terrifying force blasted him into the ground, leaving a crater a hundred meters across.

Watching this, Sun Wukong shook his head. He couldn't hold that attack, but he'd tried to block it anyway. Now he was in trouble!
