Background / History
Vegeta was initially found dead alongside the corpse of Dark Vegeta after the conflict on Namek. Gamos later arranged his resurrection through the Namekian Dragon Balls, bringing him back into a world where Yamcha occupied Vegeta’s future body and could wield power far beyond his own. Vegeta reacted with outrage upon learning that the body belonged to his future self. 10 13
Gamos recruited Vegeta, Goku, Krillin, and Yamcha for one year of Hyperbolic Time Chamber training. Vegeta entered determined to surpass Goku, but began unable to transform while Goku and the body-swapped Earthlings already displayed Super Saiyan power. The humiliation and rage of being overwhelmed pushed him into his first Super Saiyan transformation. 14 15
The future bodies of Krillin and Yamcha became a practical template for Vegeta and Goku’s advancement. By observing powers that their own future selves could wield, the pair progressed through Super Saiyan 2 and toward Super Saiyan 3 far faster than they otherwise could have. 17 24
Personality
Vegeta is intensely proud, competitive, and fixated on strength. He treats being surpassed—particularly by Goku, androids, or the users of future Saiyan bodies—as a personal humiliation, and repeatedly turns that frustration into harsher training. 15 31 39
His confidence often becomes arrogance. After defeating Captain Ginyu in Android 13’s body, Vegeta loudly declared himself “Super Vegeta,” despite Goku considering the victory unimpressive for someone already at peak Super Saiyan 2. 31
Beneath his hostility, Vegeta is deeply attached to Bulma. When he found her gravely injured in the future, he rushed to save her with a Senzu Bean and, when she could not swallow, fed it to her mouth-to-mouth. He later recognized that her support had become inseparable from his life. 42
Abilities & Skills
Saiyan Transformations
Vegeta’s growth is driven by repeated transformations and the ability to force breakthroughs through extreme pressure, anger, and training.
- Achieved Super Saiyan through rage after being humiliated by Goku. 15
- Reached Super Saiyan 4 by maintaining control over his Golden Great Ape instincts and compressing its energy. 66
- Retained his sanity after defeating and absorbing a demonic self during his Super Saiyan 6 breakthrough. 174
- Reached Super Saiyan 6 Kingly Bearing at the 28th Dimension, with a Legendary Super Saiyan-level physique. 183
Instant Transmission
Gamos taught Vegeta Instant Transmission, giving him a mobility tool beyond conventional flight.
- Used it to appear behind Goku during their Super Saiyan 2 sparring match. 24
- Intended to use it for constant high-gravity adaptation and continuous training. 24
Energy Combat
Vegeta employs high-speed close-quarters combat alongside concentrated ki attacks.
- Uses rapid energy-blast barrages known as his “Prince Tactics.” 24 31

- Used the Big Bang Attack alongside Goku’s Kamehameha against Gamos’s summoned black dragons. 175
Great Ape Power Control
Vegeta possesses exceptional control over Saiyan primal transformations.
- Reclaimed his reason quickly after becoming a Golden Great Ape. 66
- Compressed Great Ape energy into Super Saiyan 4 rather than remaining controlled by the form’s instincts. 66
Equipment / Items
- Gravity Training Room capsule — Brought into the Hyperbolic Time Chamber for the group’s training. 15
- Senzu Beans — Carries them for emergency recovery and used one to save Bulma. 42
Relationships
- Son Goku — Primary rival and training partner. Their competition drives both of their breakthroughs, though they regularly fight as a coordinated duo against stronger threats. 15 24 63 174
- Bulma — Wife and emotional anchor. Vegeta’s concern for her becomes unmistakable when he saves her after finding her severely wounded. 42
- Gamos — Ally, instigator, and teacher. Gamos recruits Vegeta for accelerated training and teaches him Instant Transmission, while Vegeta resents being treated as weaker than Gamos’s creations. 14 24 39
- Krillin and Yamcha — Their possession of future Saiyan bodies motivates Vegeta’s rapid development, but Yamcha’s use of Vegeta’s future body initially enrages him. 13 24
- Captain Ginyu — Opponent whom Vegeta overwhelmingly defeats even after Ginyu takes Android 13’s body. 31
- Future Vegeta — A separate future counterpart who develops Super Saiyan 3 in Hell and fights beside Future Goku. 49

Android conflict
Vegeta crushes Captain Ginyu in Android 13’s body, then faces the enhanced Super Android 13 with Goku. Gamos records Vegeta’s combat power at 8.1 billion, just below Goku’s 8.2 billion and Super Android 13’s 9.3 billion. 31 32
