• Their colors indicate age categories, although exceptional rings can exert pressure greater than their color would suggest 9 117.

Ring Configurations

• Yellow, yellow, purple is described as the optimal three-ring configuration. Dugu Bo personally selected all three of Dugu Yan's early rings 47.
• Yellow, yellow, purple, purple, black, black, black is identified as an optimal seven-ring configuration through Zhao Wuji 107.
• Ring color is not an absolute measure of combat value: the Black Iron Sickle's black Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear ring exerts pressure comparable to a red hundred-thousand-year ring 117.

Acquisition

Hunting Spirit Beasts

• A killed Spirit Beast releases energy that condenses into a ring. This occurs with both plant and animal Spirit Beasts 18 161.
• The absorber summons the ring toward their Martial Soul, where it contracts and merges with it 18 29.
• In assisted hunts, stronger allies can restrain or cripple the beast before the intended recipient delivers the killing blow, as seen with Tang San and Zhu Zhuqing 135 161.

Sacrifice

• A Spirit Beast can willingly perform Sacrifice to provide a ring. Ah Yin's sacrifice gives Tang Hao a hundred-thousand-year ring and enables his breakthrough to Titled Douluo 73.
• Lu Chen's eighth ring also comes from a hundred-thousand-year elder's willing sacrifice. He later resurrects that elder through a Spirit Skill 120.

Transformed Spirit Beasts

• A hundred-thousand-year Spirit Beast that takes human form can condense its first six rings without hunting other beasts. Its seventh ring still requires an external Spirit Beast 216.
• The age of a self-condensed ring depends on what the body can withstand:
  • Xiao Wu's fourth ring reaches approximately 8,000 years after she absorbs two high-quality Spirit Bones 156.
  • Her fifth ring reaches 20,000 years 168.
  • Her sixth reaches 60,000 years after further strengthening through an immortal herb, Spirit Bones, Sea God's Light, and Tidal Body Refining 286 288.

Life Spirit Rings

• A Life Spirit Ring is described as hidden, fundamental Martial Soul power that can be unlocked through sufficient nourishment 91.
• Lu Chen uses the life energy of vast quantities of Blue Silver Grass to condense his ninth ring at 190,000 years 91 93.
• Unlike absorbing an external ring, condensing this ring supplies him with no additional Soul Power. It instead grants skills especially suited to his Martial Soul 93.
• Zhu Zhuqing later condenses a Life Spirit Ring as her seventh ring after merging with the Dark Demon Evil God Tiger's origin. Its Martial Soul Avatar allows her to transform into that beast 325 326.

God-Bestowed Soul Rings

• God trials can reward Spirit Masters with God-Bestowed Soul Rings or increases to existing ring ages 261.
• A God-Bestowed Soul Ring increases in age during absorption, approaching the highest level the recipient can withstand 284.
• Dugu Yan's eighth ring progresses through white, yellow, purple, and black before reaching hundred-thousand-year red after three days. She emerges at level 84 284.
• Xiao Wu later obtains a hundred-thousand-year seventh ring through the same method, reaching level 74 326.

Absorption and Limits

Requirements and Risks

• Reaching rank ten Soul Power allows a cultivator to absorb a first ring and become a One-Ring Spirit Master 1 6.
• Physical fitness, soul strength, and available Soul Power determine whether a ring's energy can be endured. Exceptionally old rings can also present mental attacks or lingering resentment 29 41 52 76.
• Absorption restricts movement, making a safe location or outside guards important 18 49.
• Excessive energy can swell the body, overload the meridians, and threaten to make the absorber burst 57 135 252.
• A source beast's surviving soul can pose a further danger: the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King attempts to possess Lu Chen during absorption of its Million-Year Spirit Ring 252.

Methods of Improving Survival

• Physical and spiritual strengthening: Immortal herbs and Spirit Bones can raise absorption tolerance beyond conventional limits 48 161 225.
• Suppressing incoming energy: Lu Chen's accumulated Soul Power restrains the energy of his early rings 18 19.
• Countering resentment: Dugu Yan's dragon might disperses the Earth Dragon-Armored Beast's lingering resentment 76.
• Temporary reinforcement: Oscar's Paralyzing Emerald Sausages trade 20% of Tang San's speed for 20% greater toughness. Repeated doses help him survive his third ring, but accumulated poison clouds his consciousness 135 137.
• Sea God's Light: Dugu Yan uses it to tame the violent energy of a sea Spirit Beast's 680,000-year ring 327.

Effects and Skills

Cultivation and Martial Soul Evolution

• External ring absorption can increase Soul Power and unlock the next cultivation realm. Dugu Yan advances from a level-50 Quasi-Soul King to level 52 after obtaining her fifth ring 75 76.
• Each absorption is a minor Martial Soul evolution; the selected ring's attributes influence the direction of that evolution 22.
• Lu Chen's first six rings have a combined age of roughly 100,000 years, evolving his Blue Silver Grass into a Blue Silver King and awakening its domain 29.
• The 85,000-year Blue Silver King's pure bloodline subsequently transforms that Martial Soul into a Blue Silver Emperor 57.
• Ring energy can also strengthen the body and temper mental power 25 187.

Spirit Skills

• A ring's source influences the abilities it grants. Rose's century-old Red Blood Grass ring gives her Blue Silver Revival, the same healing skill Lu Chen receives from his millennium Red Blood Grass ring 18 190.
• The seventh ring unlocks the Martial Soul Avatar. Lu Chen's version, Blue Silver True Form, strengthens his first six skills by 100% 29 58.
• A single ring can grant multiple skills, but this is not universal even at hundred-thousand-year age:

Twin Martial Souls

• A second Martial Soul can receive its own rings. Delaying this process allows a stronger cultivator to begin with older rings rather than repeating an ordinary first-ring progression 89 110.
• Lu Chen develops his Black Iron Sickle after bringing the Blue Silver Emperor to nine rings. Its first three rings come from two 60,000-year beasts and a hundred-thousand-year Void Mantis 93 136.
• Adding rings to the Black Iron Sickle creates domineering Soul Power distinct from his original gentle power, revealing a potential compatibility problem 130.

Special Manipulation

Simultaneous Absorption

• Lu Chen absorbs three hundred-thousand-year Thousand Jun Ant rings together. Their energy fuses into a mass comparable to a 300,000-year ring 195 196.
• The combined absorption awakens the Black Iron Sickle's Slaughter Domain, giving it an exceptional cutting attribute 196.

Camouflage

• The Blue Silver Domain can disguise ring colors. Lu Chen conceals his actual purple, purple, purple, black, black, black configuration as yellow, yellow, purple, purple, black, black 29.

Ring Detonation

• Tang Hao detonates his first eight rings to break free from Polar Static Domain and attack Spirit Hall 111.
• The rings eventually reform after several months, but the technique aggravates his existing injuries and nearly kills him 180.

Forced Extraction and Restoration

• Extracting an absorbed ring requires Soul Power far greater than the bearer's because the ring has become integrated with their entire being 216.
• Lu Chen removes Ah Yin's sacrificed ring from Tang Hao, dropping his cultivation from level 95 to level 89 and severely damaging his vitality 216.
• Returning the ring to Ah Yin requires a special method: Lu Chen turns her into energy through his ninth skill so she can reabsorb it. This restores her origin and brings her to level 70, but she still needs a seventh ring 216.
• Removal does not always cause cultivation loss: Bibi Dong retains her cultivation after Lu Chen extracts Xiao Wu's mother's ring because of her Rakshasa divine power 237.

Creation-Based Modification

• Lu Chen shatters and reconstructs his Blue Silver Emperor's nine rings with the power of creation, granting them life-like growth without giving them souls 261.
• The modified rings consume excess Soul Power, increasing their ages with virtually no upper limit and strengthening their associated skills 261.
• Their stored cultivation can later be reclaimed: Lu Chen draws power from all eighteen rings during his transformation into a Supreme God King 309.
