History
During the Third Shinobi World War, Minato travels between fronts using the Flying Thunder God technique. His wartime assignments leave him little time to train his students, Kakashi, Obito, and Rin 22 24. He arrives at the Land of Wind front with his teacher, Jiraiya, where Orochimaru assigns him a southbound operation to eliminate infiltrating Sand ninja. Orochimaru also sends his disciple Sen Chisato with Team Minato 20 21.
Minato allows Chisato to guide his students while they carry out the operation. The two observe their battles, review their mistakes, and devise training suited to each student. After fifteen days and six battles, the three show improved coordination and a clearer understanding of their roles 25 32 35. Minato then transports the team and Chisato back to Konoha’s frontline camp with Flying Thunder God 37.
When Sunagakure attacks, Orochimaru initially assigns Minato to lead a flanking surprise attack. Intelligence that Iwagakure is reinforcing the Land of Grass instead sends Minato to that border; Chisato takes over the surprise-attack mission 39 40.
Appearance
Minato has yellow hair 20.
Personality
Minato is gentle with his students but takes their safety and development seriously. He stops Obito and Kakashi from fighting, warns Chisato against using killing intent on them, and lets the team face combat while he remains nearby as a safeguard 22 23 35. He also trusts Chisato’s judgment enough to accept his help training the team 25 32.
