Background / History
Vegeta’s seven-year training period after the Cell Games substantially improved his strength, but Gohan’s sudden rise to Super Saiyan 2 still unsettled him. While training under three hundred times gravity, Vegeta sensed Gohan’s aura and recognized an “insurmountable chasm” between them. 228
During Babidi’s invasion, Vegeta destroyed Babidi’s spaceship rather than following the expected route through it. He then defeated Dabura after escalating from Super Saiyan to Super Saiyan 2. 234 Babidi’s magic exploited Vegeta’s darkness and heightened his power, but could not make him obedient; Vegeta’s real objective was to gain the strength to settle his rivalry with Goku. 235
Appearance
Vegeta’s appearance changes sharply with his transformations, especially through the color and texture of his hair, fur, aura, and eyes.
- Majin Vegeta — black rings surround his eyes, and Babidi’s “M” mark appears on his forehead. 235
- Super Saiyan 2 — upright golden hair and dense blue lightning surround him. 234
- Super Saiyan God Blue — sky-blue hair, eyebrows, and pupils; his aura has a blue outer layer, white inner layer, star-like particles, and faint electric sparks. 266
- Super Saiyan 4 — a deep brown mane falls over his shoulders, crimson fur covers his upper body, and his eyes become emerald green. 287
- Enhanced Super Saiyan Blue — his hair, brows, and pupils become a profound azure, while enlarged aura particles emit cross-shaped glints. 291
Personality
Vegeta is driven by Saiyan pride, rivalry, and an intense refusal to accept being surpassed. Gohan’s growth frustrates him, Goku’s hidden Super Saiyan 3 power enrages him, and Goku Black’s use of Goku’s body provokes him as an insult to Saiyan pride. 228 236 274 276
Despite his arrogance, he is capable of humility when strength demands it. After witnessing Yuhao’s divine transformations, Vegeta asks Yuhao for guidance toward Super Saiyan God, setting aside his usual pride to pursue improvement. 262 He also becomes more reflective over time: confronted with the ruined future Earth, he recognizes the cruelty of his past and chooses to demonstrate change through his actions. 278
Abilities & Skills
Saiyan Transformations
Vegeta possesses and continually develops the Saiyan transformation lineage, including Super Saiyan, Super Saiyan 2, Super Saiyan God, Super Saiyan God Blue, Great Ape, Golden Great Ape, and Super Saiyan 4. 234 263 266 286 287
- Super Saiyan power is described as a fiftyfold increase over a Saiyan’s normal combat power. 248
- He cannot use Super Saiyan 3 in the documented period, leaving his divine-form power initially below Goku’s. 263
- His Super Saiyan 4 path requires a regrown tail and control over Golden Great Ape instincts. 285 286
- He later unveils a Super Saiyan Blue variation that rivals Goku’s Twentyfold King Realm Fist. 291
Untransformed Super Saiyan Output
Vegeta can release Super Saiyan-level power while remaining in base form, avoiding a full transformation.
- He uses this technique to strike Goku Black with power beyond his visible 60-billion base level. 275
- The technique provides more precise energy use and conserves stamina in battle. 275
Great Ape Control
After Yuhao restores his tail, Vegeta creates an artificial moon to trigger a Great Ape transformation and attempts to retain his consciousness through successive evolutions. 285 286
- Artificial Moon — generates the moonlight needed to transform. 286
- Golden Great Ape — raises his power enormously but overwhelms his reason. 286
- Super Saiyan 4 — achieved only after Yuhao’s sealing and chakra net calm his berserk instincts. 286 287
Final Flash
Vegeta’s Final Flash is his full-power energy attack.
- He uses it against Goku Black as the latter is pulled into a time-space rift. 277
- The attack leaves Goku Black near death, destroying most of his lower body and one arm before Zamasu heals him. 277
Combat Skill
Vegeta’s growth is not limited to raw battle power.
- Against Golden Frieza, his superior fighting skill and Frieza’s poor stamina allow him to take complete control of the fight. 266
- He uses a golden energy storm attack to force Frieza out of his Golden form. 266
- He can rapidly close distance and overwhelm opponents with combinations of strikes, as shown against Goku Black and Zamasu. 275 279
Relationships
- Son Goku — lifelong rival and frequent ally; they protect Earth together, fuse into Vegito against Majin Buu, and repeatedly compete to prove who is stronger. 241 257 278
- Otsutsuki Yuhao — mentor who agrees to guide Vegeta toward Super Saiyan God; later restores Vegeta’s tail and restrains his Golden Great Ape rampage. 262 285 286
- Future Trunks — his son; Vegeta trains him in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber and joins him in confronting the threats destroying Trunks’ future. 277 278
- Son Gohan — fellow Saiyan whose rapid growth initially makes Vegeta feel threatened; Vegeta later continues striving to keep pace with Gohan and Goku. 228 291
- Goku Black — enemy whose theft of Goku’s body enrages Vegeta; Vegeta repeatedly overwhelms him and nearly kills him during his escape. 275 276 277

- Frieza — hostile rival; Vegeta defeats Golden Frieza after revealing Super Saiyan God Blue. 266
