Background

Obito first encounters Uchiha Ye during the Uchiha Clan Downfall Night. Ye recognizes both Obito’s identity and codename, then exploits his knowledge of Kamui to evade pursuit. Obito is immediately unsettled by Ye’s familiarity with his abilities and resolves to capture him for answers 3.

Operating under the identity of “Uchiha Madara,” Obito joins Akatsuki to monitor Orochimaru, recruit capable members, and build his own strength. He initially tolerates Ye’s entry into the organization, but secretly has Zetsu monitor him as Ye’s rapid growth and unknown origins make him an uncontrollable threat 7 12 29.
