History

Konoha and the pursuit of revenge

Sasuke survived the Uchiha Clan Downfall Night because Itachi made his life a condition for carrying out Konoha's order. He grew up believing that Itachi had massacred their clan, making revenge against his elder brother the defining goal of his early life. 390

While still a Konoha genin, Sasuke trained alongside Naruto and initially struggled with the Multi Shadow Clone Jutsu, becoming frustrated by Naruto's rapid progress. 233 His first encounter with Uchiha Ye exposed the vast gap between himself and the wider Ninja World: Ye easily defeated him, goaded him over his inability to kill Itachi, and offered him strength in the Light Hidden Village.
