Background

Hiwa is the daughter of the Hyūga clan head. Ryōken saved her following an abduction incident, after which she began following him and gradually became comfortable around him despite initially hiding her interest behind embarrassment and denial. 5 8

As Ryōken's strength grew, Hiwa became a constant part of his life: she watched his harsh waterfall training, brought him meals every day, helped apply the Hatake Clan's training medicine, and resolved to become stronger so she could remain beside him. 22 23 36

Her relationship with the Hyūga clan became strained when its leadership raised the possibility of branding Hyūga women who marry outside the clan with the Caged Bird Seal.
