Background / History

Tang Ya survived the Ironblood Sect's seizure of the Tang Sect. During the raid, her parents pushed her into a secret passage; she escaped with the remaining Tang Sect manuals and was left carrying both the sect's legacy and her family's blood feud. Unable to challenge the stronger Ironblood Sect alone, she concealed this pain beneath an outwardly cheerful demeanor. 62

As the Tang Sect's sect master, Tang Ya actively sought recruits to restore its former standing. She repeatedly invited Su Ling to join after witnessing his talent, hoping his strength could secure the sect's revival. 4 5 34

When Su Ling agreed to enter the Tang Sect on the condition that he become sect master, Tang Ya accepted immediately. She saw his leadership as the Tang Sect's best chance to recover its foundation and settle the Ironblood Sect's crimes. 53

Su Ling later entrusted her, as vice sect master, with leading the members' cultivation of the Dark Pavilion techniques under the planned Mystic Heaven Divine Record. 67

Tang Ya accompanied Su Ling and Xuan Zi to confront the Ironblood Sect. After the sect's connection to an Evil Soul Master and its role in the Tang Sect massacre were exposed, she personally killed Tie Li, Tie Tang, and the Ironblood Sect elders handed over to her. The revenge left her grief-stricken and conflicted over the devouring nature emerging from her martial soul. 68 72 73

Following the destruction of the Ironblood Sect and the establishment of the new Tang Sect and Dark Pavilion base, Tang Ya actively participates in managing base construction, overseeing quality control, and inspecting hidden weapon production alongside master craftsmen like Mu S nian. 95 96

Over the following months, she learns to negotiate with suppliers and takes on broader responsibility for procurement and administration. Su Ling publicly designates her the Tang Sect's sect master, and she voluntarily leaves Shrek to concentrate on developing the sect. 97

Tang Ya continues directing Dark Pavilion's development, including preparations for disciples to awaken martial souls for commoners in towns and cities. Her planning, financial management, and fair handling of affairs become central to the organization's operation. 156 198

Tang Ya is lively, impatient, and intensely enthusiastic about the Tang Sect. She eagerly recruits promising students, becomes visibly excited by powerful hidden weapons and improved techniques, and can be careless enough to break furniture without considering the fine. 4 34 66

She is fiercely protective of those she considers her own. When Xu Sanshi attacked Su Ling, Tang Ya immediately struck him with a Dragon Whisker Needle and demanded that he apologize. 32 33

Behind her playful manner, Tang Ya carries lasting grief over her parents' murder and anxiety over the declining Tang Sect. Her previous arrangement with Bei Bei deteriorates after she concludes that his promises of revenge and restoration were never followed by action. 61 62

Following the Ironblood Sect operation, Tang Ya grows more decisive and emotionally open. She accepts that her martial soul's devouring power does not define her morality, provided she continues to punish evil and protect the Tang Sect. 73
