Zhang Lexuan lost her parents when enemies destroyed her family. As a child, she survived by hiding beneath a bed until Shrek teachers found her and brought her to the academy. She later became Mu En's nominal disciple. 24

Five years before the events of Chapter 44, she had reached Rank 80 and joined an Inner Court expedition to the Star Dou Great Forest. A hidden hundred-thousand-year soul beast attacked after Xuan Zi became separated from the group; Zhang Lexuan was the sole survivor among eleven disciples. Her martial soul was damaged, and her cultivation regressed to Rank 75. The Golden Ancient Tree nourished her martial soul over the following years until it fully recovered. 44

The beast was the Silvermoon Azure Wolf. Although her martial soul recovered, the memory of her fallen companions remained vivid when she returned to its lair. Her past has left her deeply accustomed to loneliness. She suppressed those feelings for years, but gradually admits that she wants someone she can rely on. 28 47 Despite her trauma, she does not blame Xuan Zi for the disastrous expedition and instead tries to ease his guilt. 44

Zhang Lexuan can be playful and assertive in private, though she is also easily embarrassed by her feelings for Su Ling. She initially worries about their twelve-year age difference. During the expedition, Zhang Lexuan defeats a Soul Emperor Evil Soul Master through sustained moonlight attacks. She later remains beside Su Ling when he prepares to seek a ten-thousand-year third soul ring, accepting responsibility for his protection. 22 23

Ming Lei Douluo Attack and Recovery

When Ming Lei Douluo ambushes the party, Zhang Lexuan immediately shields Su Ling and activates her Silver Moon True Body. She is critically injured when the avatar breaks, but Su Ling purges the Nether Thunder Evil Qi from her body and gives her a healing pill; Mu En later restores her damaged origin at the Sea God Pavilion. 24 25 27

Relationship with Su Ling

After waking in her cultivation room, Zhang Lexuan recognizes that Su Ling gives her the sense of security she has long lacked. Encouraged by Xuan Zi, she chooses to live for herself rather than remain bound by her former promise regarding Bei Bei. Zhang Lexuan joins Su Ling on a subsequent expedition to hunt the hundred-thousand-year Silvermoon Azure Wolf in the Star Dou Great Forest. She confronts the beast that had crippled her cultivation five years prior, defeats and slays it to settle her past grievances, and later absorbs its Soul Ring and obtains a Soul Bone, reaching Rank 88. 117 119 120 133

Holy Spirit Cult Ambush and Reunion

During the expedition, two Titled Douluo intercept Zhang Lexuan and Su Ling. When Su Ling is gravely injured, she breaks through her opponent's defense and carries him to safety. Su Ling gives her recovery pills and the resources needed for her advancement, then draws their pursuers away. After an explosion near a cliff leaves his fate uncertain, Zhang Lexuan waits there in grief with Xuan Zi. She embraces Su Ling in relief when he returns alive. 122 127 133

Reunion and Rank 90 Breakthrough

Seven months of separation from Su Ling leave Zhang Lexuan unable to overcome her bottleneck despite her restored foundation. She travels to Star Luo City, where they acknowledge how much they have missed each other.
