Background / History

Xiao Wu attends Shrek Academy alongside Tang San, whom she considers her brother and only family in the human world. Her true nature as a transformed hundred-thousand-year soul beast leaves her distressed when the group hunts soul beasts in the Star Dou Great Forest. 15 40

When the Titan Giant Ape Er Ming appears, Xiao Wu returns to him after the others retreat. Ye Xuan deceives Er Ming into playing dead, allowing Xiao Wu to confirm his safety and condense her third soul ring. To preserve her secret, she later tells the group that she absorbed an injured soul beast’s ring while Ye Xuan guarded her. 17 18

Ye Xuan had recognized her identity from their first meeting. His view that humans and soul beasts both contain good and evil, and that predation follows the strong-over-weak order, helps Xiao Wu understand his attitude toward her. 37

During the hunt for spirit rings, Xiao Wu reunites with Er Ming and condenses her third soul ring. She and Ye Xuan coordinate a false explanation for her absence, keeping her soul-beast identity hidden from Tang San and the other Shrek students. 17 18

Exposure and Departure from Shrek

Sword Douluo’s scrutiny alarms Xiao Wu, while Ghost Douluo and Chrysanthemum Douluo later openly attempt to seize her. Ye Xuan defeats the two Title Douluos and warns Spirit Hall against harming her. Xiao Wu then accepts Ye Xuan’s protection and leaves Shrek to cultivate with Zhu Zhuqing and Ning Rongrong. 28 35 36

Lake of Life Visit
