Background / History

The Heaven Dou Empire bordered the Starry Sky Kingdom to the north. The kingdom's palace was built near this border, reflecting the empire's proximity and influence in the region 1.

After Xu Nian'an established the Great Ming Kingdom, Heaven Dou enfeoffed him as the Ming King and incorporated all Great Ming territory into its map. Great Ming's successive conquests dramatically expanded Heaven Dou's claimed territory, eventually making it larger than the Star Luo Empire 13 22.

Heaven Dou treated Great Ming as part of its sphere of influence rather than an equal state. During negotiations with Star Luo, Emperor Xue Ye's court discussed ceasefire terms without Xu Nian'an present, believing the kingdom had no standing before the two empires 20. This arrangement collapsed when Xu Nian'an declared Great Ming's withdrawal and intended imperial independence; Heaven Dou refused to recognize a third empire 22.

War with the Great Ming Empire

Heaven Dou attempted to stop Great Ming's expansion by ordering Haagen-Dazs Kingdom to intercept Xu Nian'an, but Haagen-Dazs declined out of fear of Great Ming retaliation 25.

Its army attacked the Great Ming border and besieged Gulei City. The campaign ended disastrously: the Great Ming forces encircled the invaders in Mingdou Canyon, rejected their marshal's surrender attempt, and annihilated the trapped army. The empire subsequently lost an army stated to be 500,000 strong 25 26.

Following the defeat, Heaven Dou and Star Luo signed a non-aggression pact and sought to jointly oppose Great Ming 26 27. The loss of its main field army also encouraged subordinate kingdoms, led by Haagen-Dazs, to resist Heaven Dou's troop demands and form the Western Alliance United Nations 31 33.

Defeat Treaty

After Star Luo was defeated by Great Ming, Heaven Dou faced a northern expedition and the threat that Tiandou City would be destroyed if it did not comply with Great Ming's terms 40 42.

Crown Prince Xue Qinghe urged Emperor Xue Ye to prioritize the survival of the realm and royal family over pride. Xue Ye accepted a defeat treaty involving territorial cessions, indemnities, and military restrictions 42 43.

The treaty left Heaven Dou with a debt of two billion Gold Soul Coins. Emperor Xue Ye also surrendered the empire's national treasure, the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud, in exchange for debt reduction 46.
