Uchiha Yu had no idea what he should do if Snake Uncle wanted his body.

Uchiha Yu took a deep breath. Figuring he might as well give it a try, he gripped the Kusanagi Sword and charged straight at him.

With his mastery of Konoha-Style Taijutsu, every one of Uchiha Yu's strikes was razor-sharp.

But Orochimaru easily deflected them all.

His body seemed boneless, twisting into angles no one could have expected.

Four clones appeared beside Uchiha Yu in an instant.

Sarutobi Asuma, his clansmen, and the Shimura Clan's ninja were all dumbfounded.

What was going on?

Wasn't Orochimaru on their side?

Why was he trying to recruit Uchiha Yu?

Asuma's heart was pounding.

Good thing he'd kept his guard up. If he'd stuck with Orochimaru, who knew what might have happened?

That man absolutely couldn't be trusted!

Uchiha Yu was speechless.

Orochimaru's lips curled into a faint smile. "Trying to leave? Not so fast!"

Orochimaru couldn't use Living Corpse Reincarnation whenever he wanted.

He could reincarnate only once every three years, and he needed a perfect vessel.

Uchiha Yu looked exactly like what he wanted.

The ground split open in an instant.

Several pythons coiled around Uchiha Yu underground.

Uchiha Yu grunted as they hurled him into the air. He hit the ground with a thud.

"Orochimaru, what are you doing?" Uchiha Yu looked at the cold pythons wrapped around him, his heart pounding.

What the hell? Can't we just talk this out?

Orochimaru crouched beside Uchiha Yu and said, "I wouldn't mistreat you. What are you so afraid of?"

Uchiha Yu let out a long sigh.

"Snake Uncle, why don't you come back to Konoha? Do whatever you want. Konoha will fully support your research. Just don't target our own people." Uchiha Yu tried to turn the tables and recruit him instead.

He'd given up struggling. Even if he managed to shake off the snakes and escape under the cover of his ocular power, he could only get away for a while, not forever.

He might as well recruit Orochimaru to serve the Uchiha.

That was just doing what Danzo should have done.

Orochimaru smiled. "I didn't expect you to start negotiating with me."

Still, Uchiha Yu's offer was tempting.

He'd been driven out of the village by Sarutobi Hiruzen for conducting human experiments.

Without Konoha's resources, Orochimaru's research had stagnated for some time.

Now Sarutobi Hiruzen was dead, and an Uchiha had taken over as Hokage, offering him a way back in.

Even among the Uchiha Clan, few could awaken the Sharingan these days, let alone the Mangekyō Sharingan.

Orochimaru smiled faintly.

"What a pity. You'd make such a fine vessel. But your offer is even more tempting."

Orochimaru stood and patted Uchiha Yu on the shoulder. "One day, you'll be proud to have become my vessel."

Uchiha Yu felt nothing.

Seeing Orochimaru so casually turn against the man who'd just wanted to be his ally and side with Uchiha Yu instead, Sarutobi Asuma's eyes widened.

After thinking it over, Sarutobi Asuma raised his Chakra Blade. "Orochimaru, if you want to join Konoha, then you're Konoha's enemy! I'll take you down here and now!"

Orochimaru sneered. "Sarutobi Asuma, even if the Uchiha really do take control of Konoha, does that mean you'll no longer be a Konoha ninja? Your meaningless pride will lead you to your death one day."

As he spoke, several snakes rose behind Orochimaru, coiling around his body and flicking their tongues.

"Since you're the son of my teacher, I'll give you a chance. Join my Otogakure now, and I'll let the Sarutobi Clan live."

The roughly three hundred members of the Sarutobi Clan were a treasure trove to Orochimaru.

For Otogakure, whose population was scarce, they would be a considerable asset.
