History

Warring States legacy

The Uchiha were enemies of the Senju during the Warring States period, when their clan records were heavily diminished by the chaos of war. Uchiha Madara is identified as the clan's first head. 42 60 229

The clan's later relationship with Konoha remained tied to Madara's legacy. Fugaku regarded the antagonism between Konoha and the Uchiha as a calamity buried at the village's founding, while Konoha's leadership continued to associate Uchiha power with the threat posed by Madara. 152 229

Role in Konoha

The Uchiha became responsible for the Konoha Military Police Force. Although this gave them institutional authority, it also damaged their public image and placed the police headquarters beside Konoha's prison. 42 86

During the Third Shinobi World War, Uchiha members fought on Konoha's front lines. Hanazuki's battlefield actions—defeating Chiyo, confronting the Fourth Raikage, and preserving Konoha's forces at Mount Kikyo—made him the clan's foremost military asset. 12 14 26

Nine-Tails incident and relocation

During the Nine-Tails attack, Root ordered the Uchiha to evacuate civilians, leaving most of the clan unable to witness the beast directly. This fed later suspicions that an Uchiha had controlled the Nine-Tails, since the ordinary Sharingan was considered incapable of doing so without the Mangekyō Sharingan. 85
