History
Isolation After the Nine-Tails Attack
By Year 48 of the Konoha era, three years after the Nine-Tails attack, suspicion of the Uchiha has become open policy. The clan has been driven to the village’s edge, the Military Police Force is isolated, and relations with villagers continue to deteriorate. Uchiha families also suffered losses during the attack, including Shingetsu’s parents 1 11.
Shingetsu recognizes that the clan is approaching a massacre in which its civilians and children would also die. His initial system display identifies the “Uchiha Clan Downfall Night” as the main causality he must change 1 5.
The Attempted Abduction
Two Root operatives enter Shingetsu’s home to abduct him as an experimental sample, selecting him because he has no relatives likely to report his disappearance. He kills both attackers and awakens the Sharingan during the struggle 1 2 3.
The attackers’ use of “specimen” turns the incident into a clan-wide grievance. Fugaku moves Shingetsu into the inner compound, assigns protection, and agrees to arrange training. At the subsequent meeting, the clan adopts increased security and a demand for a public investigation, while Fugaku forbids unauthorized retaliation 4 5 13.
Infiltration and Internal Agitation
Police Force investigators discover a concealed passage at the compound’s northwest wall. Its age, Anbu-style seals, communication needles, and evidence-destruction mechanisms indicate long-term infiltration rather than a single opportunistic intrusion. Although the passage’s core evidence is destroyed, the surviving material is presented at Naka Shrine 23 30 34.
Meanwhile, rumors promote Shingetsu as a replacement for Fugaku’s restrained leadership. Shinsuke repeats that argument at a clan meeting, but Shingetsu exposes his concealed communication talisman. The clan’s leadership then organizes a coordinated operation to capture a contact connected to the scheme 35 36 39.
Root’s Plans Exposed
A joint Police Force and Anbu raid uncovers surveillance logs, orphan assessments, preservation-fluid vials, and records of dead or missing Uchiha. Further searches reveal the Uchiha Priority Elimination Plan and Night Owl Plan, establishing that Root has prepared the clan’s destruction in advance 45 46.
The Third Hokage suspends Root and removes Danzo from his duties. As Root destroys its strongholds and evacuates, Uchiha squads pursue its operatives and recover a box containing three preserved Sharingan. Fugaku secures the eyes and prisoners under clan custody 47 48.
Saving Shisui and Confronting Danzo
The Uchiha stage an apparent dispute over Shisui’s Kotoamatsukami to draw Danzo into an ambush. When Danzo attempts to seize Shisui’s right eye at the Naka River, Shingetsu intervenes and Fugaku’s forces surround Root 50.
Danzo escapes, but the clan severs his arm containing First Hokage cells. Presenting the arm as evidence, Fugaku demands a public warrant, investigation of Root’s strongholds, return of stolen Sharingan, disclosure of the Night Owl Plan, and joint interrogation with the Police Force. Danzo becomes an A-rank missing-nin, and Itachi is subsequently suspended from Anbu 51 52 53.
Breaking the Massacre Timeline
A masked man claiming to be Madara approaches Itachi and urges him to kill key Uchiha members to prevent war and save Sasuke. Itachi questions why the Uchiha must be sacrificed, and Shingetsu’s group interrupts the meeting. Their coordinated attack wounds the impostor and records his spatial technique 54 55.
Shingetsu next reveals that Black Zetsu altered the ancestral Stone Tablet to steer the Uchiha toward hatred and Infinite Tsukuyomi. By Chapter 57, the original massacre timeline is severed: Itachi will not slaughter the clan, Shisui survives, and the hidden manipulators have been exposed 56 57.
The clan later records Danzo and the masked man discussing a fabricated tailed-beast incident intended to frame the Uchiha. Danzo is captured, publicly exposed, and designated an S-rank traitor. A subsequent search recovers twenty-three Sharingan from another hidden cache 58 60 61.
Continuing Threats
The clan’s improved standing does not end institutional suspicion. When evidence suggests a Sharingan controls the Fourth Mizukage, council members immediately look toward the Uchiha; Shingetsu challenges that reaction as the same prejudice previously exploited by Danzo 85.
Fugaku later admits the Hokage, Anbu, village representatives, and civilians to Naka Shrine for a public investigation of the Stone Tablet. Shingetsu breaks seals tied to another attempt to incriminate the clan over the Nine-Tails incident, and Konoha formally records Black Zetsu’s methods 89 90 91 96 97.
Orochimaru and Black Zetsu subsequently exploit Akizuki’s access to clan records and key seals. Coordinated attacks target clan and village facilities while a Black Zetsu fragment seeks access to the underground vault. Shingetsu seals the fragment’s remnants and leads a team below ground while Fugaku maintains order. A later discovery reveals another surveillance roster tracking the clan’s leadership and core fighters 120 121 126 127 134.
Abilities and Combat Heritage
Sharingan
The Sharingan is central to Uchiha identity and combat training. Its development varies between individuals; ordinary members may remain at one or two tomoe throughout their lives, while three-tomoe users are considered elites and Mangekyo power is regarded as legendary 10 20.
- Visual analysis: Tracks movement and chakra flow, supporting anticipation of an opponent’s next action 20 32.
- Genjutsu: Used to suppress Root operatives and briefly disrupt opponents during coordinated attacks 45 55.
- Training discipline: Clan notes teach dynamic vision, chakra maintenance, and observation of shoulders, hips, ankles, and chakra rather than limbs alone 20.
- Limits: Prolonged two-tomoe activation burdens the ocular meridians; overuse can cause mental exhaustion 20.
Fire Release and Shurikenjutsu
The clan’s instructional heritage concentrates on Sharingan use, Fire Release, and shurikenjutsu 31.
- Fire Release suppresses enemies and obstructs routes during group engagements 47 55.
- Fugaku uses the Great Dragon Fire Technique to destroy an enemy’s rock pillars 64.
- Shurikenjutsu includes traps, close-quarters counters, and projectile collisions that redirect attacks 19 64.
- Combined squads use shuriken, fire, and genjutsu to restrict retreat rather than relying solely on individual duels 47.
Specialist Techniques
- Body Flicker: Shisui’s speed is used for interception, concealed protection, and blocking escape routes 39 47.
- Kotoamatsukami: Shisui’s Mangekyo ability can permanently alter another person’s will without their awareness. Shingetsu opposes using it to force the clan into submission 9.
- Sealing support: Clan members inspect infiltration routes for traps and arrange arrays that record chakra fluctuations and spatial distortion 23 55.
