Background / History

Following the Lord Third's death during the Konoha Crush, Jiraiya intervened when Danzo and Root attempted to take Gaara into custody. Invoking his standing as a Sannin, he ordered Danzo to withdraw and prevented a confrontation with Dawn Wind. 37 38

Jiraiya remained in Konoha through the postwar reconstruction, using his prestige to restrain Danzo's attempts to expand Root's influence. He also questioned Ling about Dawn Wind's purpose, then agreed to advocate for the group's legal, semi-public status within the village. 38 40

He began formally training Naruto and later departed with him to locate Tsunade, entrusting Konoha's security to Ling during his absence. 40

At the border of the Land of Rain, Jiraiya, Tsunade, and Naruto were overwhelmed by the Six Paths of Pain. Ling arrived in time to break Jiraiya free from Deva Path's Almighty Push, allowing the group to retreat after Ling destroyed the Deva Path at tremendous personal cost. 43 45
