Background / History
Di Tian served as a personal guard of the Dragon God and belongs to the highest-ranking pure-blooded dragons beneath the Nine Great Dragon Kings. His ancestry gives him inherited knowledge of dragon bloodlines and an exceptionally sensitive perception of darkness 39 57.
Restoring the Dragon Clan is his lifelong obsession. He has spent centuries searching for the Ice Dragon King and Fire Dragon King’s remains, regarding their recovery as essential to the clan’s revival 58 81.
Appearance
Human Form
- Build: Well over two meters tall, broad-shouldered and powerfully muscular 53.
- Face: Handsome, sharply defined features; usually wears a cold, imposing expression 42 53.
- Hair: Thick black hair falling over his shoulders 53.
- Eyes: Pure gold, with vertical pupils visible during his confrontation with Luo Nan 53 176.
- Clothing: Plain black robes; his later appearance includes faint dark-gold light along their edges 53 175.
- Presence: Even without deliberately releasing his aura, he causes pedestrians to avoid him and refuse eye contact 53.
Dragon Form
- An enormous black dragon with golden eyes and dark-gold scales 39 177.
- His fully revealed body measures approximately 800–900 meters from head to tail 177.
- His emergence releases enough darkness to plunge the surrounding battlefield into night 177.
Personality
Di Tian is proud, domineering, and quick to anger when his authority is challenged. He initially regards powerful human soul masters as little more than ants, and finding a human martial soul capable of suppressing his own bloodline deeply wounds his pride. Nevertheless, he disdains using Luo Nan’s weaker family members as hostages and allows them to leave during their first encounter in Heaven Dou City 53 54 55 57.
His commitment to the Dragon Clan can outweigh both anger and humiliation. He accepts Luo Nan’s bargaining terms rather than risk losing the Dragon Kings’ burial location, honors his agreement to resolve Luo Nan’s martial-soul crisis, and eventually encourages his cultivation. This support remains tied to the clan’s interests: when attempting to recruit Luo Nan later, Di Tian privately considers forced submission or killing him before he becomes an uncontrollable enemy 58 81 83 84 181.
Abilities & Skills
Ultimate Darkness
Di Tian commands immense quantities of ultimate darkness, using it to exert pressure and overwhelm the surrounding environment 39 40 177.
- His awakening produces black thunderclouds and shakes the Star Dou Forest 39.
- His arrival can swallow sunlight and distort the surrounding space 80.
- Limitation: Luo Nan’s ultimate light purifies and dissolves his darkness, giving the Golden Sacred Dragon an elemental advantage 40 177.
- Attribute incompatibility: Di Tian cannot safely inherit the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings’ powers himself; forcibly absorbing their ultimate ice and fire would cause his body to explode 180.
Dragon Physique and Combat
His dragon body combines enormous strength, vast Soul Power reserves, and powerful darkness attacks. He is described as capable of prevailing against a Rank 99 Peerless Douluo 41 177.
- Dragon claws and breath: Can tear apart space and cause widespread spatial collapse 177.
- Tail strikes: His several-hundred-meter tail knocks Luo Nan’s Golden Sacred Dragon away during their first battle 41.
- Dark Annihilation: Releases two pitch-black destructive beams from his golden eyes toward Luo Nan while he strikes the Golden Sacred Dragon with his tail 41.
- Durability limit: Luo Nan’s Dark Heaven-Ripping Claw leaves severe abdominal wounds containing destructive darkness that is difficult to remove 42 43.
Spiritual Perception and Bloodline Recognition
Di Tian can distinguish exceptionally pure dragon origins and identify ancient Dragon King auras 39 40.
- Detects the Dark Demon Dragon’s aura from the depths of the Star Dou Forest 39.
- Recognizes radiance, ultimate ice, and ultimate fire within Luo Nan’s Golden Sacred Dragon 40.
- Extends his spiritual power across all of Heaven Dou City to locate Luo Nan at Moonlight Pavilion 53.
- Recognizes the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King’s influence and the Sea God’s aura during their later battle 177 178.
Transformation and Spatial Movement
Di Tian freely changes between his immense dragon body and a middle-aged human appearance 42 177 178.
- Opens spatial rifts to travel or appear directly before others 84 175 176.
- Keeps pace with Luo Nan’s flight from Heaven Dou City without difficulty 54.
- Conceals himself in Luo Nan’s shadow during their journey to the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well 81.
Dragon Lore and Cultivation Guidance
His inherited Dragon Clan knowledge allows him to analyze abnormalities that conventional human martial-soul theories cannot explain 56 80 82.
- Origin theory: Proposes that Luo Nan’s original Dark Sacred Dragon partially devoured the Radiant Sacred Dragon’s origin before birth, mutating into the Dark Demon Dragon and leaving the other soul weakened 56.
- Unresolved question: Cannot initially explain why the weakened Golden Sacred Dragon survived rather than being completely erased 57.
- Diagnosis: Identifies both unequal martial-soul strength and the clash between ultimate light and ultimate darkness as separate fatal problems 82.
- Yin-Yang Complementary Dual Soul Cores: Teaches Luo Nan to separate darkness into a second core at the chest’s danzhong acupoint, rotating opposite to his existing core 82.
- Hands-on guidance: Helps Luo Nan survive the dangerous initial condensation by directing light back to the dantian and stabilizing the dark vortex with spiritual power 83.
- Risk: Warns that failed condensation could make the two cores collide and annihilate Luo Nan 82.
Dragon-Soul Communication
Di Tian uses his Black Dragon King bloodline, beams of divine light from his eyes, an ancient dragon seal, and ancient dragon-language chanting to attempt contact with the sleeping Ice and Fire Dragon Kings beneath the well 83.
- The content and outcome of that communication are not disclosed.
- Luo Nan later suspects that the dragon souls influenced Di Tian’s sudden change in attitude, but does not confirm it 84.
Relationships
- Gu Yuena — His liege and the true supreme ruler of the Star Dou Forest. He reports Luo Nan’s unusual bloodlines to her, obeys her investigation orders, and later returns for guidance when his own recruitment attempt fails 42 43 181.
- Luo Nan — Initially an intruder to eliminate, later a bargaining partner and temporary cultivation pupil. Di Tian ultimately regards him as the Dragon Clan’s hope for revival, while Luo Nan rejects being bound to that cause 39 58 82 178 179.
- Bi Ji — Healer and trusted subordinate. She removes the destructive darkness from his wounds, restores him, and receives responsibility for guarding the forest during his absence 43.
- Xiong Jun — Fellow Fierce Beast under his leadership. Di Tian entrusts him and Bi Ji with watching over the Land of Great Evil while he enters the human world 42 43.
- Ice Dragon King and Fire Dragon King — Revered Dragon Clan forebears whose surviving souls and essences become central to his restoration plans 55 81 179.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Awakening and First Battle
Luo Nan’s Dark Demon Dragon aura awakens Di Tian after the deaths of the Sky Azure Bull Python and Titan Giant Ape. Di Tian confronts him above the Lake of Life, then pauses to question the unexpected ancient Dragon King powers within his martial souls 39 40.
Luo Nan’s detached Golden Sacred Dragon and personal attacks initially force Di Tian backward. Di Tian retaliates with Dark Annihilation, but Luo Nan seriously wounds him with the Dark Heaven-Ripping Claw and escapes. Di Tian reports the encounter to Gu Yuena, who orders him to investigate Luo Nan’s background and powers 41 42.
Human-World Investigation and Bargaining
After Bi Ji heals him, Di Tian enters human society, gathers information from soul masters, and tracks Luo Nan to Moonlight Pavilion. Their confrontation moves outside Heaven Dou City, where Di Tian learns that Luo Nan has found the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings’ burial ground 43 53 54 55.
He offers treasures for its location and explains his theory of Luo Nan’s martial-soul origins. When Luo Nan refuses to disclose the site, Di Tian nearly attacks, but stops after being warned that the secret will die with Luo Nan. They agree that Luo Nan will reveal the location when he needs Di Tian’s assistance 56 57 58.
Resolving the Martial-Soul Crisis
Luo Nan returns to the Star Dou Forest after strengthening the Dark Demon Dragon destabilizes his opposing martial souls. Di Tian has already anticipated this danger and agrees to help in exchange for being led to the burial ground 79 80 81.
At the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well, he confirms the Dragon Kings’ dormant souls and essences, then guides Luo Nan through forming Yin-Yang Complementary Dual Soul Cores. After the breakthrough, his attitude changes markedly: he urges Luo Nan to cultivate well and protect the well, leaving without taking its herbs or claiming the territory 81 82 83 84.
Return to Moonlight Pavilion
While Luo Nan is on Sea God Island, Di Tian takes up residence at Moonlight Pavilion and waits for him, claiming to be his friend. His aura terrifies Dugu Bo, although he does not harm the household or prevent its evacuation 174 175.
Angered by the intrusion, Luo Nan draws him outside the city and attacks with both detached Martial Soul Avatars. Di Tian reveals his full dragon form, but the avatars hold him to a standstill and inflict damage. Luo Nan ends the fight before it can threaten Heaven Dou City; no final victor is declared 176 177.
Dragon King Inheritance Proposal
Di Tian detects the Sea God’s aura and fears that Luo Nan has become another god’s heir. He is relieved to learn that Luo Nan completed the Top-Tier Seven Trials rather than the Sea God’s Nine Trials, because inheritance of another divine position would ruin the Dragon Clan’s plans for him 178.
He offers Luo Nan the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings’ inheritances, explaining that no current spirit beast possesses the necessary combination of bloodline, strength, and elemental compatibility. Luo Nan refuses the opportunity rather than accept obligations to the spirit-beast struggle against the God Realm 179 180.
Unable to force a fighter who now rivals him into submission, Di Tian withdraws. He decides that risking his life would endanger his duty to protect the Silver Dragon King and returns to seek her instructions 181.
