Government and Succession
Star Luo was ruled by the Dai Family under an exceptionally brutal succession system. Only one or two members of each generation were expected to survive the struggle for the position of Crown Prince, leaving the imperial household with few collateral princes when it faced collapse. Bai Yu regarded this system as cold-blooded and a major reason Spirit Hall supported Heaven Dou rather than Star Luo in continental unification 174 316.
- Star Luo Emperor — Ordered the princes Dai Mubai and Dai Weisi to each lead an army against Heaven Dou after their prolonged internal struggle stalled the empire’s plans 247.
- Dai Mubai — Third Prince; competed with his elder brother Dai Weisi for influence and later sought the throne amid the war 220 247.
- Dai Weisi — Eldest Prince and Dai Mubai’s principal rival; lost access to Zhu Family support when Zhu Zhuyun entered seclusion 220 247.
- Dai Family Ancestor — A Super Douluo who defended the empire during its final campaign and died fighting Heaven Dou’s Titled Douluo 317 318.
- Zhu Family — Closely tied to the imperial family through the Hell White Tiger Martial Soul Fusion Skill, though its members ultimately sought their own means of survival as Star Luo fell 313 315.
Military Strength
Star Luo initially held the advantage over Heaven Dou in conventional warfare. Its forces rapidly captured territory after the opening invasion, while its side was reinforced by major sects and Titled Douluo 250 253.
- Clear Sky Sect emerged from seclusion to support Star Luo’s invasion after Tang San relayed the empire’s request 249.
- The Star Crown Sect also joined the war, adding further high-level support to Star Luo’s side 251.
- The empire fielded multiple Titled Douluo, including its Royal Ancestor, Tang Xiao of the Clear Sky Sect, and Xu Xing of the Star Crown Sect 256.
- Star Luo relied heavily on hired and allied high-level Soul Masters; its emperor believed these fighters would pressure Heaven Dou into withdrawing rather than risk their lives for a foreign power 256.
- During the war’s later stages, Star Luo mobilized several million troops through Ancient Lei Kingdom in a failed surprise attack on Heaven Dou 311.
History
Conflict between the Princes
For more than two years, Dai Mubai and Dai Weisi undermined one another within Star Luo’s court. The Star Luo Emperor permitted their rivalry to continue, but neither prince gained a decisive advantage; the resulting disorder delayed any major offensive against newly enthroned Heaven Dou 247.
The Emperor eventually ended the brothers’ political struggle by giving each prince an army and ordering both to invade Heaven Dou. Dai Mubai sought Tang San’s help and attempted to recruit capable allies, while Dai Weisi struggled without Zhu Zhuyun and the Zhu Family’s support 236 247.
Invasion of Heaven Dou
After Clear Sky Sect formally left seclusion, Star Luo began its offensive. Its armies advanced rapidly, taking twenty-one Heaven Dou cities within two months and alarming Heaven Dou’s nobility 249 250.
The campaign changed when Heaven Dou sought Spirit Hall’s assistance. Bai Yu offered Spirit Hall’s Soul Masters and Titled Douluo as paid “mercenaries,” explicitly stating that sufficient payment could secure aid in destroying Star Luo itself 252. Spirit Hall’s entry overturned Star Luo’s military advantage and led to repeated defeats despite support from the Clear Sky Sect and Star Crown Sect 253.
Failed Deterrence at the Border
The Star Luo Emperor attempted to end the war through pressure rather than outright victory. He sent envoys to negotiate peace and summoned the Star Luo Royal Ancestor and Tang Xiao to force Heaven Dou’s hired Titled Douluo to withdraw 256.
This strategy failed because the war had been arranged by Bai Yu and Qian Renxue. Bai Yu personally confronted Tang Xiao, matching the rank 97 Titled Douluo in battle and later trapping Tang Xiao and several Clear Sky Sect elders with the Four Symbols Limitless Seal 258 260.
Retreat and Final Resistance
Following continued defeats, Star Luo withdrew toward its capital. Its attempt to escape was intercepted at Dou God Lake by Bai Yu, who severely wounded the Star Luo Emperor and Dai Family Ancestor before allowing them to return to Star Luo City 316.
The Emperor then enacted a desperate survival plan:
- He had the Dai Family Ancestor lead a suicidal charge against Heaven Dou’s forces to create an opening for the family’s younger members 317.
- He secretly arranged for underage and obscure Dai Family members to be hidden across Star Luo City 317.
- He executed two princes who preferred surrender, ensuring that the remaining adult Dai Family members would serve as visible sacrifices 317.
- He ordered all adult Dai Family members to fight openly while the imperial children were concealed 317.
The Dai Family Ancestor fought from morning until night against multiple Titled Douluo, inflicting injuries before dying. His death devastated Star Luo’s morale and enabled Heaven Dou to advance 318.
Fall of Star Luo
After a month of further fighting, Heaven Dou surrounded Star Luo City. The Star Luo Emperor executed two princes accused of seeking surrender, then personally led the remaining adult Dai Family members into a final battle 318.
The Emperor died after three days and nights of fighting, causing the Star Luo army to collapse. Under his prior orders, the Star Luo Empress led the remaining members of the Dai Family in the palace to burn themselves to death rather than be captured 318.
Although Star Luo’s imperial government fell, former Star Luo nobles later joined rebellions against Heaven Dou’s abolition of kingdoms, duchies, and noble fiefs 320.
