Background
Konoha is a shinobi village founded in part by the Uchiha clan. Its Hokage position is presented as belonging to no particular organization in principle, but its political reality is shaped by competing military, clan, civilian, and covert interests. 4 9
During Sarutobi Hiruzen's tenure as Third Hokage, the village is marked by distrust of the Uchiha clan and discrimination against Uzumaki Naruto as the Nine-Tails' jinchūriki. Uchiha Kei and Naruto are openly insulted by Academy peers, while Danzo seeks to portray both children as threats to the village. 6
Konoha later undergoes a gradual political and social shift through Uchiha Kei's influence. The Konoha Daily promotes ninja achievements, raises village cohesion, and turns Uchiha Itachi into the public's favored candidate for the next Hokage. 42 43
The village survives the Yang Organization's assault and the subsequent conflict caused by Kei's defection. Sarutobi Hiruzen flees during the battle, while Itachi helps repel the Yang Organization and White Bone Clan before becoming Fifth Hokage. 98 100
Five years after the conflict, Konoha has been rebuilt into a stronger village under Itachi's leadership. It later convenes the first Six Kage Summit and becomes the headquarters of an allied force formed against Akatsuki's Tailed Beast captures. 100 122 123

Story Role / Major Arcs
Uchiha political movement
Uchiha Kei argues that an Uchiha should be eligible to become Fifth Hokage and begins organizing support for Itachi. His strategy focuses on public opinion, clan support, civilian influence, and weakening Root from within the Anbu. 4 9 14
Root conflict
Danzo views Kei and Naruto as dangers to Konoha, dispatching Anbu against them and later attempting to send them into peril. Hiruzen repeatedly prevents Danzo from acting decisively, creating an ongoing power struggle within the village leadership. 6 10 32 37
The conflict escalates after Danzo's Sharingan-covered arm is exposed before Konoha's clan heads. Itachi and the Uchiha Clan demand accountability, while Hiruzen attempts to protect Danzo and deny Itachi and Kei a voice in the emergency council. 88
Hidden Village threat
After the destruction of Twilight Ninja Village, Konoha sends Kei and Naruto to investigate. Their report reveals the existence of the Hidden and the Divine Realm, prompting Konoha's leadership to consider the threat posed by this unknown force. 31 37
Rise of the *Konoha Daily*
Over a three-year period, the newspaper becomes a major force in village life. It improves cohesion by publicizing heroic deeds while also reshaping the succession debate in Itachi's favor. 42 43
Team Seven formation
Following the Academy graduation season, Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura are assigned to Team Seven under Uchiha Kei. The team begins with harsh assessments focused on composure, teamwork, and the meaning of comradeship before receiving its Wave Country escort mission. 46 48 49 50
Yang Organization assault
When the Yang Organization moves against Konoha to demand Danzo's surrender, the village mobilizes its combat forces at the gate, including 600 jonin and 400 chunin. Hiruzen initially attempts to assign the Hyuga Clan to the vanguard, but Fugaku proposes a joint Uchiha-Hyuga formation instead. 89 90
Konoha's forces are nearly overwhelmed after the Yang Organization deploys large numbers of Yin Masks. Kei, Itachi, Shisui, and Naruto reverse the battle's momentum through their combined intervention, with Itachi's Susanoo greatly raising Konoha's morale. 91 92
Kei's defection and Konoha's reconstruction
Following Uchiha Izuna's death and Hiruzen's attempt to blame the Uchiha Clan for the invasion, Kei abandons his previous political strategy and declares his intention to destroy Konoha. Hyuga Hiashi and the Hyuga Clan defect to Kei's alliance, while Itachi and Naruto choose to remain and defend the village. 97 98
Konoha survives the conflict after Itachi resists Kei and the attacking forces are driven back. Hiruzen flees, and Itachi succeeds him as Fifth Hokage, leading Konoha's reconstruction and subsequent growth. 100
Six Kage Summit and Shinobi Alliance
Itachi convenes the first Six Kage Summit in Konoha to address Akatsuki's Tailed Beast captures. Although the Fourth Raikage objects to Twilight Ninja Village's participation, the other leaders support Konoha and Twilight Ninja Village's cooperation. 122 123
The summit establishes an allied force against Akatsuki, with Konoha selected as its leader through the support of Twilight Ninja Village, Kirigakure, Sunagakure, and Iwagakure. 123
