Zixia continued, "Later, heaven and earth separated, the Three Realms took shape, and Primordial Qi scattered across different worlds. Your world... may hold the purest Primordial Qi."
Zhi Zun Bao cut in. "So after all that, you're saying this kid can activate the Moonlight Box?"
Zixia nodded.
"If he really can activate the Moonlight Box—then he can travel through time and space, and even..."
She looked at Goten, then stopped herself.
"Even what?"
Zixia was silent for a long time before finally speaking.
"Even return to five hundred years ago and meet the real Sun Wukong."
Goten shot to his feet.
"What did you say?!"
Zixia looked him straight in the eyes. "Sun Wukong is dead. But the Moonlight Box can travel through time and space. If you can use it, you can return to five hundred years ago and meet him."
Goten's heart began to race.
Sun Wukong, five hundred years ago.
This world's Sun Wukong—a Great Sage, Equal to Heaven, who shared his dad's name but was a monkey.
If he could meet him—
"Why are you helping me?" Goten asked.
Zixia smiled faintly, a trace of bitterness in her smile.
"Because he... is the one I love."
Goten reached out, slowly moving toward the Moonlight Box.
His fingertips were still three inches away—
Hum!!!
The Moonlight Box suddenly trembled violently. A purple glow burst out, shrouding the entire stronghold in violet light!
Goten jumped and tried to pull his hand back—but a powerful force held his fingers fast against the box!
"Goten!" Zhi Zun Bao cried out.
But Zixia stopped him. "Don't move! Let him continue!"
Goten felt something surge out of the Moonlight Box and flow through his fingers, spreading throughout his body.
It was a warm, ancient power—and it resonated with his Saiyan blood in a strange way.
Then—
His vision went black, and images appeared.
The Moonlight Box projected a vision—
The Heavenly Palace, its grand halls gleaming amid swirling clouds and mist.
A figure stood with his back to Goten, before the South Heaven Gate.
He wore Chainmail Armor and a Purple Gold Crown, and carried a golden staff on his shoulder—the Ruyi Jingu Bang.
The figure slowly turned around.
A golden monkey's face.
The Great Sage, Equal to Heaven—Sun Wukong.
His gaze pierced through the vision and fixed on Goten.
Then he spoke, his voice hoarse and commanding, yet touched with kindness:
"I've been waiting a long time for you, Goten."
Goten's mind went blank.
"You knew I'd come?"
Sun Wukong smiled—the exact same smile as his dad, Sun Wukong.
"Of course I knew. Because the one who brought you here—"
"Was me."
The vision vanished.
Goten's eyes flew open. He gasped for breath, drenched in cold sweat.
Zixia and Zhi Zun Bao both looked at him anxiously.
"Are you all right?!" Zhi Zun Bao asked.
Goten didn't answer.
There was only one voice echoing in his mind, over and over—
"I've been waiting a long time for you, Goten."
"The one who brought you here—was me."
Had the Sun Wukong of this world—the Great Sage, Equal to Heaven—summoned him here?!
But—hadn't he been dead for five hundred years?!
Goten stared hard at the Moonlight Box, a fire unlike any he'd felt before burning in his eyes.
He had to find the answers.
He had to meet that Sun Wukong.
He had to find out—what was going on here!
Just then, a majestic horn sounded outside.
Bwooo—!!!
Its sound pierced the night sky and shook heaven and earth.
Zixia's face turned deathly pale.
"The Heavenly Soldiers and Generals—"
"They're here."
In the distance, golden clouds descended from the sky. Countless figures clad in golden armor stood in formation, their banners whipping in the wind, their presence as overwhelming as the sea.
The Heavenly Soldiers and Generals had descended upon the mortal realm.
Goten stood up, walked out of the stronghold, and looked up at the golden army.
He grinned.
"Here to capture me?"
Golden flames surged into the sky!
"Then come and try!"
In the desert, the boy stood between heaven and earth, with a stunned Zhi Zun Bao and a faintly smiling Zixia behind him.
In the distance, golden light pressed closer. A great battle was about to begin.
Goten clenched his fists as golden flames blazed in the night sky—
The Heavenly Soldiers and Generals?
Perfect.
He wanted to find out just how high the ceiling of this world really was!
Just how high...
