Chapter 36
Boom!
The standoff between Night Shadow Bunker and the Furnace Army was like an endless meat grinder. Along the edge of the battlefield, apprentices' corpses lay like fallen stalks of wheat, too numerous to count.
At this moment, the negative energy particles beneath the Sky Curtain were even denser than when the Furnace Army had first entered, like an oppressive mass of dark clouds.
Yet just as the two armies clashed fiercely, a thunderous blast suddenly tore through the battlefield's stillness.
Immediately afterward, a sphere of light exploded with a crash. Blinding radiance burst forth as light energy particles surged outward at an irresistible speed, as if they intended to swallow the entire battlefield.
Other than Lynn, every apprentice was stunned by the sudden explosion.
But it was not over.
After the first sphere of light exploded, another burst apart right after it. Like falling dominoes, one detonated after another.
Boom!
Boom!
The explosions echoed endlessly across the battlefield, as shocking as rolling thunder.
Every blast was accompanied by the agonized cries of apprentices, yet those cries were completely drowned out by the thunderous roar.
The night that had originally been shrouded beneath Night Shadow Bunker's Sky Curtain was now illuminated by the explosions of countless spheres of light. Brilliant rays spread in every direction, as though daylight had arrived.
As the light energy particles continued to erupt, the negative energy particles and light energy particles between heaven and earth began colliding violently.
It was like water and fire that could not coexist—yet just as their violent collision produced steam—
the collision between light energy particles and negative energy particles also created a terrifying effect. It was as if light had turned into clouds and mist, forming a hazy vapor.
The sudden explosions threw the battlefield into disarray. Many apprentices scattered to take cover, terrified of being caught in the aftershock of the light spheres.
"This thing is harmful!"
Amid the boundless luminous haze, Lynn gripped the Heart of Flower Language's barrier tightly and felt faint waves of energy depletion ripple across its surface.
The depletion was extremely slow. Perhaps it would take ten minutes for it to drop by one degree.
But there was no doubt that the products created by the eruption of light energy particles and negative energy particles were harmful to apprentices like them.
Roar!
At that moment, an earth-shaking dragon's roar suddenly came from high above!
All the Furnace apprentices looked up and saw a small figure faintly visible within the gradually dimming Sky Curtain, approaching at an astonishing speed.
As it drew nearer, the figure grew larger and larger, until at last—
Boom!
A massive force smashed through the curtain of night, tearing open the void like thunder.
The figure finally revealed itself. It was an elegant, slender Black Dragon!
The Black Dragon's scales were smooth as ink and glimmered with a cold sheen, resembling an immortal abyss in the darkness.
Its enormous wings seemed capable of blotting out heaven and earth with every flap. Beneath them, gray-black smoke drifted like mist, instantly blanketing the entire battlefield.
Upon the Black Dragon's back sat the witch, poised high above all else and exuding incomparable nobility.
Her face was as flawless and exquisite as a sculpture, with a delicate, high-bridged nose and alluring thin lips.
Most striking of all were her violet eyes. They resembled deep purple crystals, yet also noble and elegant violets, radiating a mysterious glow.
She parted her crimson lips slightly, revealing pearly white teeth as she coldly uttered a few words:
"Leave none alive. Kill them all!"
There would be no mercy for those who surrendered, no mercy for those who laid down their weapons. The witch's order was to wipe out the entire allied force of Night Shadow Bunker and Bitter Heart Sect!
With the Black Dragon Witch's arrival, The Furnace's Official Wizards surged in like a tide, following close behind the Black Dragon's imposing figure.
At this moment, countless terrifying auras of witchcraft filled the battlefield. The Official Wizards chanted under their breaths as the witchcraft in their hands was swiftly unleashed, and the pressure between heaven and earth instantly multiplied.
Lynn could clearly feel that if not for the Heart of Flower Language's protection, he would likely have already turned as pale as the other apprentices beneath this invisible pressure.
"That is... Lord Drey?"
Lynn's gaze sharpened as he caught sight of the nearest Official Wizard. It was none other than Wizard Drey, who had once led him into The Furnace.
Beside Wizard Drey stood a figure with an extraordinarily exaggerated appearance.
The man was wrapped from head to toe, even his face tightly covered in cloth, leaving only a pair of icy eyes exposed.
There was no arm inside his right sleeve. Instead, a black Python several meters long extended from within it.
The Python slithered flexibly out of his sleeve, coiling around his body several times. Its head rested upon his shoulder, its tongue flickering gently, giving off an intensely unsettling feeling.
The Furnace Army flooded onto the battlefield like a tide. One Official Wizard after another appeared in the air, their auras powerful and oppressive.
Meanwhile, the Black Dragon that had awed the entire battlefield descended like the god of death. With one spread of its wings, its shadow engulfed the whole sky.
Night Shadow Bunker's apprentices were instantly cowed by this terrifying pressure. Their faces went pale, and they did not even have the courage to look up, much less chant spells and launch witchcraft in retaliation.
However, Night Shadow Bunker naturally responded at that moment. One figure after another emerged as well, each radiating a powerful aura. They were clearly Official Wizards too.
At their head stood the Lord of Night Shadow Bunker and the Leader of Bitter Heart Sect.
With Official Wizards appearing, the pressure bearing down on Night Shadow Bunker's apprentices was blocked, and only then did they dare rise to face the Furnace Army before them.
"So young, yet already so ruthless..."
The Night Shadow Lord sneered, his sharp gaze sweeping across the battlefield. He had clearly seen through The Furnace's scheme long ago.
From their elevated position, they could clearly observe every movement of the Furnace Army and had thus learned of the plan devised by that student of the Lord of the Furnace.
"To lofty The Furnace, mere apprentices are insignificant. No matter how many die, it makes no difference."
The Leader of Bitter Heart Sect, a white-haired old man, spoke coldly as well, his voice laden with disdain and mockery.
Yet just as the atmosphere grew increasingly tense, Astrid, the witch upon the Black Dragon's back, finally spoke.
Her voice was cold as frost and carried a hint of intimidation:
"You need not play your little mind games. Fighting for The Furnace is dignity; dying for The Furnace is glory. The Furnace will remember them! As for you..."
Her words were filled with contempt and indifference, while her gaze carried cruel killing intent:
"I happen to need two corpses of third-rank wizards for experiments lately. Could you obediently go die? Do not let my experimental materials get too damaged..."
Before her words had even faded, a chilling killing intent appeared on Astrid's lovely face.
The Black Dragon beneath her let out a deafening roar and, like a falling meteor, charged straight at the two third-rank wizards with the force to rip apart space!
At the same time, the Official Wizards on both sides unleashed their respective witchcraft. Sparks of battle collided fiercely in midair, and the tremendous eruption of energy shook heaven and earth.
