Background / History

Origin

The Spirit of the Blue Sky is one of the four great Radiant Moon Sacred Artifacts of the Nature Divine Dynasty. Rather than being conventionally forged, these artifacts originated from fragments of the shattered divine spark of Chauntia, the fallen Goddess of Life and Nature; the fragments were later reforged and refined by wizards. It retains traces of Chauntia's life-and-nature authorities, though many of those traces are incomplete or degraded. 354 455 478

It was once regarded as the unique Radiant Moon Sacred Artifact lost by the Nature Divine Dynasty. Its disappearance remained significant enough that a Radiant Moon Crown eventually ordered the entire dynasty to search for it. 113 400

Seizure in the Dream Space

The artifact first manifests amid an incomplete sigil during the events in the Dream Space, where its life force surprises even the Lord of the Furnace. 113

In the confrontation at the lake, the Otherworld Creature produces the Spirit of the Blue Sky and uses its suppressive radiance against Lynn and Ald. The artifact strips Lynn of his available means and reduces him to the state of a Level 3 apprentice, while Ald is similarly imprisoned. 119

Maple Tree teaches Lynn the incantation required to contest control of the artifact through the Azure Sky Meditation Method. Although the Otherworld Creature initially possesses an advantage through Maple Tree's lingering aura, Maple Tree later calls upon the Spirit of the Blue Sky directly; its released power strikes and breaks the Golden Balance. 119 120 121

Lynn's Custody

Lynn subsequently uses the Spirit of the Blue Sky to seal the Golden Balance fragments he retained as leverage against the Otherworld Creature. By this point, he can maintain a connection to the artifact and activate it quickly enough to imprison the fragments in a pale-green cage. 149 161

Qi later fulfills part of the Contract of Balance by guiding Lynn to harvest faith from temples of the Goddess of the Weave. The Spirit of the Blue Sky processes this faith: part replenishes the artifact itself, while a portion is converted into spiritual power for Lynn. 164 166 182

Appearance

The Spirit of the Blue Sky commonly manifests as a sharply faceted azure or pale-green crystal, carrying an exceptionally dense aura of life. Its form has also been described as an emerald inverted triangular prism and as a diamond-shaped rhomboid crystal. 119 148 454

  • Emits cyan, azure-green, pale-blue, or verdant light depending on its state and stored energy. 113 166 167
  • Its radiance can resemble a blue sun, a falling galaxy, or rain-like streams cycling through a recipient's body. 166 182 183
  • When fully revealed, its mere presence exerts pressure above the Morning Star level. 454
  • It may appear as an azure diamond-shaped mark on the Lord of Life's forehead. 365 387

Abilities & Functions

Life Force and Restoration

The artifact carries immense life energy inherited from Chauntia's divinity.

  • Releases life force powerful enough to blanket a battlefield in cyan radiance. 113 121
  • Restores spiritual power, mana, spell expenditure, and even rule power stored in Permanent Spell Marks. 454
  • Its life force can sustain living beings during a crisis and becomes central to the struggle against Haeptis's ascension ritual. 456
  • Can conceal Lynn's aura, though a direct eruption of its power risks attracting the Goddess of the Weave's attention. 192

Faith Processing

The Spirit of the Blue Sky is not wholly a godhead, but it can process believers' faith in a manner associated with divine artifacts. 164

  • Absorbs accumulated faith power from temples and believers. 166 357
  • Converts part of that faith into spiritual origin and returns it to Lynn. 182 356
  • Retains another portion as its own energy reserve, increasing its vitality and helping Maple Tree recover. 182 339
  • Allows the Lord of Life to absorb faith and grant divine power to believers, though Lynn retains actual control over the artifact and its combat use. 354 355

Suppression and Sealing

Its high rank allows it to suppress targets far beyond Lynn's ordinary capability.

  • Suppressed Lynn and Ald so completely that they could barely mobilize mana. 119
  • Can bind Golden Balance fragments within an invisible green cage. 149 161
  • Instantly sealed Rampant Thorns, a mid-stage Level 4 Morning Star Wizard, in a green-radiance amber. 335
  • Can restrain violent life-type rules with enough precision to avoid harming nearby apprentices, Official Wizards, plants, or the surrounding hall. 385

Life-Rule Absorption and Transformation

The artifact demonstrates an instinctive affinity for life-related powers.

  • Devours scattered life-type rule fragments, including healing, growth, harvest, reproduction, withering, and flourishing. 385
  • Can trace Xiye's extraordinary maple-tree body back to a juvenile state, purify its life essence, and transform it into a flesh-and-blood form. 402
  • This transformation completely exhausted its stored energy. 402

Divine Authority Resonance

As a remnant of Chauntia's shattered divine spark, the artifact can react to divine names, authorities, and ascension rituals.

  • Haeptis attempts to use an ascension ritual to draw it in and seize Chauntia's residual authority. 455 456
  • Lynn suppresses it with the Primordial Seed until he understands Haeptis's objective. 453
  • The Lord of Life's own ascension ritual draws it away from Haeptis and aligns it with Lynn's side. 456 459
  • The Lord of Life absorbs only a portion of its residual authority and divinity; the artifact remains at the Radiant Moon tier. 459 478

Limitations

  • Early in Lynn's possession, its usable power depended heavily on the residual power Maple Tree had left within it. 335
  • Its energy reserves can be exhausted by major life-transformation effects. 402
  • Its divine-spark origin makes it vulnerable to schemes involving Chauntia's authority and godhood rituals. 455 456
  • The artifact's authority over faith can be delegated to the Lord of Life, but this does not grant the avatar unrestricted combat control. 355

Relationships

  • Lynn — Primary wielder and controller. He learned the Azure Sky incantation, uses the artifact to seal enemies and artifacts, and channels its faith-derived spiritual power. 119 149 335 478
  • Maple Tree / Xiye — Resides within the artifact and initially provides the incantation and residual power needed for Lynn to use it. Xiye later states that he does not intend to compete with Lynn for it. 119 182 387
  • Qi — Uses the Contract of Balance to arrange faith harvesting that charges the artifact and raises Lynn's spiritual power. 164 166
  • Lord of Life / Jess Cole — Bears the artifact's mark and receives authority over faith, allowing believers' faith to flow into it; his ascension secures it from Haeptis. 354 355 456 459
  • Chauntia — Fallen Goddess of Life and Nature whose shattered divine spark forms the artifact's underlying essence. 455 478
  • Haeptis — Attempts to seize the artifact and absorb Chauntia's residual authority through his ascension ritual, but loses control after the Lord of Life ascends. 456 459
  • Nature Divine Dynasty — Original owner and claimant. Its Radiant Moon Crowns have sought the lost sacred artifact for over a century. 400

Story Role / Major Arcs

  • Dream Space conflict — Serves as the Otherworld Creature's weapon of suppression before Maple Tree turns its power against the Golden Balance. 119 121
  • Contract of Balance — Becomes Lynn's safeguard for sealing the Golden Balance fragments and a central term in Qi's agreement with him. 149 161 164
  • Faith-harvesting expeditions — Converts stolen faith power into energy reserves and spiritual power, enabling Lynn's rapid advancement. 166 182
  • Morning Star battle against Rampant Thorns — Establishes itself as Lynn's decisive trump card by instantly sealing a mid-stage Level 4 Morning Star Wizard. 335
  • Spirit Eye Plane campaign — Functions through the Lord of Life as the center of an expanding faith system across the plane. 354 357 365
  • Pano Plane ascension conflict — Becomes the prize sought by Haeptis for Chauntia's authority; the Lord of Life's ascension prevents its seizure and preserves it for Lynn's side. 455 456 459
