Why Should I Give It To You
However, compared to the first two tasks, the requirements for the third task seem much simpler and more straightforward. There's no need to search for it with great effort, because the Three-headed Dog is right there in the school.
There was no need to seduce anyone; as long as the ability met the requirements, the pass would be granted, which greatly reduced Tom's anxiety.
Back at the castle, Tom overheard the young wizards' gossip. "Quirrell has resigned!"
Quirrell, who had tormented them for almost an entire school year, ran away in the last month, much to the delight of many who were finally relieved to no longer have to endure that indescribable stench.
Only Harry was worried, believing that Quirrell was resisting Snape's threats and oppression, refusing to reveal the obstacle he had set.
Now that Quirrell is gone, does it mean he has failed?
So Harry kept an even closer eye on Snape, "bumping into" Snape dozens of times a day in the castle, like Snape's little shadow.
When Tom came to find Snape, he witnessed Snape yelling at Harry.
"Harry Potter! I have no idea what you've been doing wandering around the castle!"
"Can't all this homework stop your restless heart? Two points deducted from Gryffindor, and if I see you again, ten points will be deducted!"
Harry tried desperately to explain, "Professor, I just left something in the classroom," attempting to get the points back.
But he hadn't seen through Snape after all this time, so how could Snape possibly give him any points? In the end, Harry left dejectedly.
Tom laughed, finding the scene amusing—having James Potter's face waving around in front of Snape, practically slapping him in the face.
As for Quirrell's resignation, it wasn't unexpected for Tom. Andros's punch was no easy feat.
The fact that Voldemort didn't kill him on the spot is because of his profound mastery of Dark Magic. The Patronus, which is most effective against evil forces, is still raging inside Quirrell's body, tormenting him to the point of wishing he were dead.
If Quirrell showed up for class today, Tom would suspect that Andros was holding back, or perhaps he was just a fraud?
If Andros knew about Tom's doubts, he would beg and plead to let him start his Physical Practice mode again, this time not to just fly away, but to smash it to pieces!
Without turning his head, Snape said coldly, "Is it funny?"
Tom tilted his head in confusion. "Isn't it funny?"
Snape turned around, his face grim. He knew, of course, that Harry suspected him of coveting the treasure in the Third Floor Corridor, but he wasn't angry at being suspected; he was angry at how foolish Harry was.
How could someone with such a mindset possibly survive the machinations of Voldemort Albus Dumbledore?
Tom had no interest in discussing parenting with Snape. "You'll naturally become smarter after making a few mistakes."
He got straight to the point. "Professor, I need your help. Do you have improved versions of the recipes for the Iron Potion, the Berserk Potion, and the Agility Potions?"
Snape looked at him suspiciously. "What do you need these Potions for?"
"I just suddenly became interested. If you have any, it would be best to give me a few samples and the formula for research."
Tom knew perfectly well that these Potions were only temporary enhancements to the body and didn't really have much of a presence in the wizarding world.
It's completely ineffective against magical attacks; a single beam of green light is enough to kill.
But for him, this thing was a cheat code. Bare-handed? No problem. Without magic? No problem either. But it didn't say he couldn't use Potions!
If you can transform yourself into a super soldier, what's so scary about Three-headed Dog?
Snape casually made a show of bravado. "When I was young and bored, I did some improvements on these useless Potions."
Then, changing the subject, she said, "But why should I give it to you? Just because of your words?"
Tom offered his bargaining chip, "I'll trade you that spell you wanted last time."
That ball of light magic is Andros's self-created spell, "Eternal Treasure Charm," which can be used for both offense and defense, and is not difficult to learn.
The difficulty lies in controlling the spells and the enormous magical power required, but these are no problem for Snape.
Tom wasn't going to make a losing deal, so he also got a few of Snape's own spells, mostly minor evil spells, but they could be surprisingly effective in crucial moments.
Faced with such tempting offers, Snape couldn't refuse and readily agreed.
He didn't ask Tom what he wanted those Potions for, not because he wasn't curious, but because he knew Tom would never tell him.
Tom started talking nonsense, and he wouldn't believe me anyway, so never mind.
Quirrell's departure essentially turned Defense Against the Dark Arts class into a self-study session.
Other professors all have their own courses, and even if they occasionally squeeze out some time to teach a couple of classes, it doesn't form a systematic teaching approach.
Quirrell did such a terrible job this semester that the professors didn't know where to begin, and in the end, they had no choice but to leave it to the students to study on their own.
The final exams were no longer important, as Albus Dumbledore had promised not to let any student fail.
A week later, Tom sent out the experimental data on feeding the unicorn with the Patronus Charm, along with some of his feelings about signing a contract with the unicorn.
After their first interaction, Tom received the magical mark unique to the Scamander family.
After that, all that's needed is to add a mark to the letter, and it can be delivered directly to Scamander by owl, saving Albus Dumbledore the trouble.
Although he trusted Dumbledore's character, letters were private matters, so it was more comfortable to send them directly.
Building a good relationship with Newt Scamander is essential, as there are still nine trials left, and Tom will most likely need Newt Scamander's help again.
Keeping his promise, Snape delivered his improved formula and several Potions he had personally brewed.
Tom tried making two Potions, drinking his own and Snape's Potions respectively, and then fought with Big Treasure Second Treasure to test their effects.
The difference is about 20%. As expected of Potions Master valued by both Voldemort and Albus Dumbledore, Tom felt that he had done everything perfectly, but the quality was just not as good as Snape's.
Since Snape's Potions are of better quality, he can just use them directly; there's no need to waste time on this, since the final exams are about to begin.
The school was closed a week before the exam.
All grades entered the review phase, and even Tom had to sit down and study diligently.
The exam includes practical exercises and a large amount of written tests. It's like a high school student doing elementary school exercises; you can't just have the correct answers, you also have to solve the problems according to the steps and thinking required by the teacher.
This stumped Tom, who was always too lazy to nitpick over such details, so he had no choice but to swallow his pride and ask Hermione for help.
