I Want to Fly Faster
Tom's interest was instantly piqued. "Let's give it a try." Tom took two steps back, making room, as if he were watching a circus act.
Gellert Grindelwald was the first to demonstrate; a pair of black energy wings appeared out of thin air behind him, each feather Winky and flashing with dark light.
Formed entirely of magic, his feathers trembled slightly as his body lifted off the ground and hovered in mid-air.
Lindvor's voice came from above, "The essence of a spell is to manipulate airflow using magic."
"Feathers can be folded together to form a shield; each feather can generate airflow, allowing one to adjust direction and fly."
"Speed can be further enhanced through magical airflow compression—exquisite, elegant, perfect for someone like you who enjoys showing off."
"My spell is called Raven's Feather. What do you think? Is it fitting for Ravenclaw?" Gellert Grindelwald said proudly.
Tom's face instantly darkened, and he rolled his eyes dramatically. "Grindelwald, I'm Slytherin! Are you deliberately trying to annoy me with Ravenclaw- style curse?"
Tom stared at the pair of black wings. "That's cool, but how fast can it fly?" This was Tom's biggest concern, since the trial required flying.
Gellert Grindelwald floated back to the ground, waving his hand. "It's just been developed, how can it be so perfect? With the subsequent compression of magic and the burst of airflow, the speed will definitely increase."
Tom thought to himself: That makes sense. Using magic to play with physics is both scientific and absurd. No wonder he's Grindelwald.
Tom looked at Andros, Andros grinned, a layer of white light emanating from his body. "Watch this."
Without any fancy moves, it simply floated up in a flash, exuding impressive power.
"One force can overcome all laws." Andros's tone carried a hint of smugness.
As soon as he finished speaking, he spun around twice in the air like an arrow, creating a gust of wind.
Tom estimated that the speed was at least 100 kilometers per hour, so fast that it was just a streak of white light.
After landing, Andros wiped away imaginary sweat. "Use powerful magic to erase the influence of all forces on you."
"Flight speed depends on how much magic you have and how much you can output in a short period of time."
Tom frowned. "The Thunderbird's top speed is 500 kilometers per hour, far from that!"
Gellert Grindelwald folded his wings. "My suggestion is to combine the two spells, one for precise control and the other for burst damage."
"Just like when you cast a spell with a wand, your mind controls the direction, and magic propels your body."
"Your magic contains both my subtlety and Andros's ferocity; its potential is greater than both of ours combined."
Tom nodded thoughtfully.
Gellert Grindelwald emphasizes precise control, making him suitable for navigating cities and dodging obstacles.
Andros emphasizes using brute force to overcome all obstacles, making him suitable for long-distance, high-speed flight. He possesses both qualities and greedily wants to have it all.
"Let's start with Andros's spell," Tom decided. He would learn to fly first, and then figure out how to fly faster and more steadily.
Tom gave the order and immediately pulled Andros into the Meditation Hut. Although the Meditation Hut only works on one person at a time, it didn't stop Andros from giving a lecture.
Over the next few days, Tom spent his days at Hermione's house helping her with her homework, going shopping, and his evenings practicing flying.
The principle is simple, but it's difficult to implement.
On the first day, he flew for three seconds and crashed. On the second day, he flew for ten seconds and crashed into a tree. On the third day, he flew for one minute and successfully went around the tree.
The time for her appointment with Daphne had arrived. Although Hermione was reluctant to part ways, she knew it was time to call it a day.
If she doesn't release her soon, Daphne might actually come to her house with her wand and start a fight.
Moreover, Tom was going to United States on the 15th, so their time allocations were roughly the same, which was fair.
The next morning, Tom said goodbye to Hermione and left Granger family.
To get to the Greengrass Manor, you have two options: take the Knight Bus, or Apparition and find it slowly.
As for the Floo Network? Give me a break. Not every house is as casual as the Weasley family', where you can just barge through the fireplace by saying a name. It's too unsafe.
Tom's eyes lit up, and he chose the third method: flying over!
I practiced in the Study Space all night last night, and even used the Supernatural Mode twice.
He had long since mastered the flying spell, and this was a good opportunity to test it in real combat.
He first cast a Disillusionment Charm on himself to avoid being seen as a monster by Muggle.
Then, he silently recited Andros's incantation, his whole body glowed white, and he soared into the air with a "whoosh".
At first, he flew very slowly. There were too many tall buildings in the city, and he was afraid of crashing into them, so he had to keep adjusting his direction.
After flying for a while, his judgment of distance became more and more accurate, and he flew much more smoothly.
Once outside the city, the view suddenly opened up, and Tom took a deep breath, unleashing a surge of magic power from within him.
His speed increased rapidly, leaving other cars on the highway behind him one by one, the wind whistling in his ears.
The scenery on the ground rushed past him, and he felt like a cannonball being fired.
If it's nighttime, a silvery arc will streak across the night sky, which Muggle will mistake for a shooting star.
Tom estimated the speed was definitely over 200 kilometers per hour, and magic consumption? He didn't feel it at all.
Before he could even feel tired, they arrived at the Greengrass Manor.
Greengrass Manor is situated beside a lake and looks like a medieval castle from a distance.
There were no other buildings around, only vast expanses of grassland and woodland.
Tom landed on the ground, dispelling the Disillusionment Charm. As soon as his feet touched the grass, he felt a faint magical fluctuation sweep over his entire body.
This is Muggle-Repelling Charm, and there's also protection similar to the Fidelius Charm.
Snape once said that even when Voldemort came, he dutifully accepted the invitation.
The security level of an ancient Pure-blood families is no joke.
Tom stood in front of the iron gate, rang the doorbell, and soon heard the sound of horses' hooves.
Two snow-white horses pulled an exquisite carriage, galloping towards them.
Daphne leaned out of the car window, saw him, and waved excitedly, her voice almost hoarse. "Tom! Over here!"
Tom stared, his eyes wide. Wow, this is what a real elite family looks like!
They even have horses running in their house, two Pure-blood white horses at that.
As soon as the carriage came to a stop, Daphne jumped down and pounced into Tom's arms like a little cannonball.
She took a deep breath of his scent and said in a pitiful voice, "Tom, you've finally arrived!"
Tom chuckled and patted her head, teasing her on purpose, "We just saw each other in Diagon Alley a few days ago, why are you talking like it's been years?"
Daphne wrinkled her little nose, looked up at him with bright, sparkling eyes, and went straight to the point. "Because I missed you, so much!"
Daphne looked up and stared into his eyes. "Don't you miss me?"
