Why is it a Whiny Monster?
Tina Goldstein peeked in from outside the space and saw Newt Scamander squatting on the ground. She shook her head. "Spending too much time with him will make you stupid."
Newt Scamander did not refute.
Tom took the meteorite out of the suitcase, and Usachi immediately woke up, pounced on it, grabbed a piece, and started gnawing on it.
Newt Scamander's eyes lit up again, and he leaned over to look. Usachi glared at him, then climbed back onto the rock with the meteorite in his mouth, turning his back to Newt to continue gnawing on it.
Newt Scamander ignored Usachi and continued discussing the Patronus.
Newt Scamander immediately became very interested in Tom's Patronus and trusted Tom even more.
How could someone with such a high-quality Patronus be an evil wizard?
"It seems the problem lies with you, my Patronus," Newt Scamander said to Tom, his tone certain.
"Your Patronus is of higher quality than mine, and its energy is purer than that of these three unicorns themselves."
"So it's purifying the magic within them, which should be the reason for their changes."
Tom nodded, understanding dawning on him. "I guessed pretty much right. Maybe this method can be used on other Fantastic Beasts too."
Newt Scamander's thoughts were consistent with the conclusions reached by Gellert Grindelwald and Andros; when it came to Fantastic Beasts, he clearly trusted Newt Scamander more.
"Oh?" Newt Scamander's eyes lit up, his interest piqued. "Could you give me an example?"
"Let's talk about the Thunderbird," Tom said casually, stroking his chin.
"Don't Thunderbird always take to the skies to bathe in lightning during natural thunderstorms? That's their way of enhancing themselves."
"If we could provide electricity stronger than natural lightning, do you think they could absorb it?"
"And then Nundu. Their poisonous gas is terrifying enough on its own. If you feed them even more potent poison, they might become stronger."
He paused, then smiled slyly, "Although the conditions are a bit extreme, it's not like we can't try. We can test it out this time when we go to the Thunderbird Sanctuary."
Newt Scamander's eyes lit up as he listened. The moment the topic of Fantastic Beasts came up, his energy surged.
But before he could even get excited for two seconds, Tom poured cold water on his enthusiasm. "Speaking of which, where are we going to find electricity stronger than natural lightning?"
Newt Scamander's excitement vanished instantly, his head drooping, looking utterly defeated.
"That's right, what wizard's lightning spell can compare to the power of nature?"
"Albus Dumbledore might be able to manage if he went all out, but it's unrealistic to ask him to intervene just for a conjecture."
Instead of fighting the Thunderbird head-on, Newt Scamander suddenly remembered a rumor. "Why not target the Nundu?"
In India, a Nundu drank water from the Ganges and immediately died, foaming at the mouth. The river's toxicity might actually meet the requirements.
"I suddenly have a new idea..."
"Hold head high--!"
Newt Scamander had barely finished speaking when a high-pitched dragon roar suddenly echoed through the space, startling the three unicorns who immediately shrank behind Tom, trembling with fear.
A dark shadow rushed from afar, moving so fast that it was just a blur, heading straight for Tom and Newt Scamander.
Newt Scamander instinctively drew his wand, but Tom grabbed it and opened Tom arms to meet it.
The dark figure slammed into his arms with a thud, the force so great that he stumbled back two steps, almost losing his balance.
"Good heavens, how did you get so heavy?" Tom said, hugging Usachi who was nuzzling his neck affectionately, looking utterly helpless.
Compared to when he went to the Greengrass Manor, Usachi had grown much larger, his height had increased from half a meter to almost the same as his own, and he had also become much thicker, requiring some effort to pick him up.
The meteorite from the Greengrass Family, along with the energy crystals collected recently, were all eaten by this little guy.
It fell into a deep sleep three days ago to digest energy and was put into Tom's space. Unexpectedly, it woke up as soon as it arrived in New York.
"Waaaaah~ Waaaaah~" Usachi rubbed his face against him in dissatisfaction, her soft voice sounding just like a wronged little girl.
Whose dragon cries like that? Who taught her to be so whiny?
Daphne, far away in Britain, suddenly sneezed for no apparent reason, rubbing her nose and muttering, "Who's talking about me?"
"Tom, is this your pet?" Newt Scamander leaned closer, his eyes wide, scrutinizing Usachi with increasing astonishment.
He swore he had seen countless Fantastic Beasts in his life, but he had never seen anything like this, and he couldn't even find a close relative that was even remotely related to it.
"Is this Fantastic Beasts that has never been discovered before?" The old man's voice trembled, his tone filled with excitement.
Tom restrained the mischievous dragon and explained with a smile, "Her name is Usachi, she's from the Rayquaza clan, she told me all this herself."
Newt Scamander couldn't resist taking two more steps forward, and Usachi immediately let out a deep dragon roar, staring at him warily.
Newt Scamander then realized he had been too excited, and awkwardly stepped back, scratching his head.
"Uncle Newt Scamander, Usachi doesn't like being studied, and I won't force her," Tom said helplessly.
"If you want to know, you can only observe from a distance."
"I understand, I understand." Newt Scamander nodded repeatedly, his eyes still filled with longing.
"From her roar, I can sense the might of a dragon, a power that is higher and purer than that of a fire dragon."
"Dragons are the proudest creatures; it's truly remarkable that you've gained her approval."
Tom smiled and said nothing more. He played with Usachi on the lawn, while Newt Scamander scribbled and drew on paper and pen.
The unicorn that he had just been holding in the palm of his hand had now completely lost its presence.
It wasn't until 10 p. m. that Tom said he was going to bed, Newt Scamander reluctantly left.
The first thing he did upon returning was to modify the entrance to his personal world overnight. He couldn't let Tom see his primitive staircase; it would be too embarrassing.
The next morning, Tom finally got his wish and stepped into the box that countless wizards had dreamed of.
Newt Scamander had already secured the box entrance to the Trapdoor. He opened the door, and the two of them stood on the brand-new automatic elevator, which slowly descended.
We entered a cramped little wooden hut, filled with various tools and reagents.
But when Newt Scamander pushed open the cracked wooden door, Tom was completely stunned. A vast, boundless, and vibrant world instantly came into view.
The feeling was like suddenly stepping from a dilapidated hut in the Africa wilderness into a fantastical secret realm.
The stark contrast made him hold his breath, and he stood there for several seconds before he came to his senses.
Grasslands, mountains, lakes, canyons—it boasts a wide variety of terrains and ecological environments.
Compared to Newt Scamander's trunk, the space created by his business card holder was hardly a small world; it was at best a pitiful cramped dwelling.
"How did you manage to do that?" Tom couldn't help but ask. "My magic isn't weak, but even if I tried my best to expand space, I couldn't reach the scale you've achieved."
