Why Did These Two Start Fighting?
Upon seeing the phoenix, which is even rarer than a fire dragon, the young wizards went completely mad, throwing away their knives and forks.
They craned their necks, staring at the ceiling, forgetting even about the delicious food on the table.
The professors who remained in the Great Hall were also surprised; Fawkes usually stayed in the Headmaster's Office.
They're rarely even seen, so why did they suddenly appear in the Great Hall today?
Before anyone could figure it out, Fawkes circled twice in the sky and then swooped down.
The young wizards were even more excited, thinking they would get up close to the phoenix, but instead it folded its wings and landed steadily on Tom's shoulder.
He tilted his head, his big, round eyes filled with confusion.
The surroundings fell silent instantly. The students who were nearby held their breath and stared wide-eyed at Tom.
Is this Albus Dumbledore's bird or Tom's bird? Did Tom somehow "steal" the headmaster's phoenix?
Tom knew perfectly well that it was definitely the Thunderbird bloodline's doing.
The rewards of the Twelve Trials are no joke; his Thunderbird bloodline is even purer than that of the Thunderbird King.
The phoenix and the Thunderbird have a very deep connection; the purer their bloodline, the stronger their bond.
"Chirp--" Fawkes nuzzled Tom's cheek, its clear chirping sounding like a question.
Tom reached out and ruffled its feathers, taking two down and putting them in his pocket as if it were perfectly natural.
"Don't be confused. I've suddenly awakened the Thunderbird bloodline. From now on, we're family. If I need your help later, don't refuse!"
Phoenix is intelligent but naive; it believes everything Tom says and rubs against Tom hand, as if to say, "Leave it to me."
Daphne and Astoria's eyes lit up, and they moved even closer.
You can clearly see the tiny flames dancing on the Phoenix Feather; you almost want to reach out and touch them.
Just as Tom was about to let the two sisters play a few rounds, one of the little devils objected.
"Hold head high--!"
A dragon's roar suddenly erupted, and a powerful mental pressure instantly swept across the entire area, causing several timid young wizards to faint.
The rest of them also experienced dizziness, chest tightness, and paleness.
Usachi popped out of Tom's pocket, his small body taut and his dragon eyes wide open.
It glared angrily at Fawkes, its owner's shoulder—its designated spot—and this scruffy bird dared to take it?
Fawkes glanced at it sideways, his face full of disdain.
Not only did it not move, it also slowly preened its feathers, a gesture that made Usachi tremble with anger.
"Hold head high--!"
Usachi completely lost his temper, letting out an even louder dragon roar as he charged headlong at Fawkes.
Fawkes hadn't expected the kid to be so unsportsmanlike; he started fighting after only a few words and was knocked off balance.
It fell off Tom's shoulder, and in anger, it screeched and pecked Usachi hard.
Under everyone's watchful eyes, the two Fantastic Beasts started fighting, rolling around on the table and splashing soup everywhere.
The roast beef flew onto the Ravenclaw Table, startling Tom, who quickly waved his hand. A gust of air rose up and blew them both high into the sky.
Otherwise, the entire table of delicious food would be ruined, Professor Kettleburn, High Table, stared wide-eyed.
Whether it was the phoenix or this Fantastic Beasts he had never seen before, they were both treasures worthy of in-depth study, and he couldn't wait to rush up and observe them up close.
The entire Great Hall was silent. Everyone looked up at the battle in the sky. Tom's lips twitched, and he thought to himself that this was outrageous.
He truly hadn't expected that the two little ones would actually fight over a shoulder.
Seeing that their fight was getting increasingly fierce, Tom quickly pushed open the heavy oak door and shouted to the sky, "Usachi, go outside and fight! Don't tear the Great Hall apart here!"
Usachi dared not disobey its master's orders. Taking advantage of Fawkes's inattention, it flicked its tail and smacked Fox, then flew out the door in a flash.
Fawkes, who had never been so wronged, let out an angry roar and stormed off after him.
Once outside the Great Hall, he was completely unrestrained, his body erupting in flames, his imposing aura at its peak.
On the other side of the meadow, Albus Dumbledore was leading several professors to inspect the Whomping Willow.
This tree had a really bad day; it was badly damaged by Harry and Ron's flying car.
The once upright tree trunk was bent at nearly thirty degrees, many of the willow branches were broken, and it looked droopy and withered, as if it had been hit by frost.
Professor Sprout was so distressed that he stomped his feet and wanted to go over to check on her, but the Whomping Willow had been hit and was having a stress reaction.
They frantically wave willow branches to block anyone who gets too close.
Snape seized the opportunity to whisper in Albus Dumbledore's ear, "Albus Dumbledore, according to the 'Law on the Reasonable Restraint of Underage Wizards'..."
"They not only used magic illegally, but also damaged a precious ancient tree. This is a disgrace to the school, and I strongly recommend their expulsion!"
Snape didn't believe in Prophecy, but he knew Voldemort did, so he genuinely wanted to expel Harry.
The safest protection is to let this child go back to the Muggle world and live a peaceful life.
But Albus Dumbledore also believed in Prophecy and clearly had no intention of expelling Harry.
"Severus, the purpose of school is to teach children right from wrong," Albus Dumbledore said calmly, looking at the Whomping Willow.
"If every mistake leads to expulsion, then the school loses its purpose. Leave the punishment to Minerva; after all, they are your students."
Professor McGonagall's face darkened further. What did she mean by "your student"?
She certainly understood Albus Dumbledore's meaning—he wanted to protect Harry and Ron —but why did his words sound so jarring?
Snape pursed his lips, knowing that this matter was going to be dropped again.
"Pomona, how's the Whomping Willow doing?" Albus Dumbledore turned to Professor Sprout.
"It can still be saved." Professor Sprout circled the tree trunk and used Lumos to shine on the injured area.
"Severus, I need you to brew a batch of special nutrient solution, a lot of medical bandages, and plenty of willow twigs that can heal."
"No problem." Snape's eyes lit up. "Give me those willow branches that can't be repaired. I happen to be short of some Whomping Willow materials."
There's only one Whomping Willow in all of Britain, and Sprout usually guards it like a treasure. Snape has been eyeing it for a long time.
Thinking about it now, Harry actually did him a favor?
Professor Sprout frowned, about to haggle, when he was interrupted by a high-pitched dragon's roar and a phoenix's cry.
Fawkes appeared like a burning fireball, bursting forth from the direction of the castle. Golden flames traced arcs across the night sky, illuminating the darkness.
Usachi was not to be outdone; the patterns on his body gleamed with golden light. Following closely behind, the two divine beasts grappled in the sky, locked in a fierce and evenly matched battle.
Fawkes turned around, a fireball gathering in his mouth, while Usachi advanced instead of retreating, the golden light in his dragon eyes intensifying.
Albus Dumbledore bewildered: Why were these two suddenly fighting?
