"Is Voldemort trying to plant another spy at Hogwarts?"
Devero thought grimly.
His brows furrowed.
A trace of worry showed in his eyes.
Over the past few days,
he had often seen Marcus wandering around the library,
a pile of Dark Magic books in his arms,
hurrying toward Quirrell's office.
What made him even more uneasy was that
Marcus sometimes came back even later at night than Devero, who went out exploring the castle.
Every time he returned,
he looked utterly exhausted.
His face was pale,
and his eyes were visibly weary.
Devero had no idea what he was up to.
Devero scratched his head awkwardly.
His fingers ran through his soft golden hair,
leaving several disheveled streaks.
He sighed.
Marcus was, after all, one of the people Devero got along with best in Slytherin.
He didn't want Marcus getting caught up in the next Wizarding World war.
Even less did he want Marcus becoming Voldemort's lackey.
But as things stood,
going to the office at night,
being alone with Quirrell,
and coming back exhausted—
if this kept up,
something was bound to go wrong!
Devero stood up
and paced back and forth.
His footsteps echoed through the silent room.
His heart was filled with conflict and uncertainty.
On the one hand,
he was worried about Marcus's safety
and didn't want to see his friend get caught up in danger.
On the other hand,
he couldn't act rashly,
because he still needed to load an important trait from Voldemort.
He couldn't capture him so soon.
"This is tough! Forget it. Once we've learned the Three Unforgivable Curses next week, I'll turn him in. I can't just ignore my friend's life!"
Devero gritted his teeth
and made up his mind.
After the first Defense Against the Dark Arts lesson next week,
