Son Gohan tucked the three-star Dragon Ball back into his robes. The golden threads of light on his bracer that had been pointing the way slowly faded from view.
"We are going straight to Planet Vegeta." Son Gohan's tone was devoid of ripples, yet it carried an unquestionable resolve.
In this world, every extra minute spent dragging things out was a minute of lethal risk.
That wicked Kakarot was completely different from the Lin Fan of the previous timeline. Kakarot had clearly been in contact with the source of the Original Dragon Balls for a long time. He could even carve off fragments of this power to bestow upon his subordinates, granting them immortality!
If they did not strike at the head immediately, this power would only become more deeply rooted within Kakarot, and by then, he would be the supreme god of the entire world.
Trunks frowned upon hearing this. "Gohan, the universe is vast, and Planet Vegeta is ridiculously far from this sector. Even if we found an intact spaceship, it would take at least several months to get there at full speed, wouldn't it?"
Son Gohan was also contemplating how to solve this problem.
Several months was far too long.
"It won't take months!"
Leaning against a steel pipe, Frieza suddenly straightened his body, his originally weak voice rising in pitch due to extreme excitement.
Hearing that these two powerful Saiyans intended to go straight to Kakarot's lair, the fallen galactic emperor's eyes erupted with a fanatical glow.
"In the deepest part of the base, I hid the resistance's last super-light-speed jump ship!" Frieza clutched his bleeding abdomen, eager to offer his services. "That is our final trump card! With it, we can jump to the edge of Planet Vegeta's sector in at most two days!"
"Oh? That couldn't be better." Son Gohan was somewhat surprised.
Two days later.
A dark red sky shrouded Planet Vegeta. This once vibrant planet had been filled with high-intensity militarized modifications; the surface was covered in pitch-black steel turrets and towering armories.
In the royal palace.
On a massive throne built from bones and obsidian, Kakarot rested his chin on one hand, his eyes filled with nothing but listless indifference.
In the center of the hall, a burly, one-eyed Saiyan knelt on one knee. He held a string of bloody heads—the severed remains of aliens with various appearances.
"My King!" the one-eyed Saiyan's voice was hoarse, filled with the fanaticism of one seeking a reward. "The main force of the South Galaxy's last resistance has been completely wiped out! The heads of their leaders are all here. For the Saiyan Empire, I beg you to grant me greater power!"
Kakarot glanced at the heads with indifference.
"You spent an entire month cleaning up a bunch of trash from the South Galaxy who couldn't even break a power level of one thousand?" Kakarot sneered. "However, I will grant it to you for your loyalty to the Saiyan Empire."
He raised a finger.
At his fingertip, a ball of pure white light quietly bloomed.
It was but a tiny remnant of Miracle Power; though it looked like a mere speck, it was enough to grant a wish on the scale of a Super Saiyan 3.
The white light left his hand and shot directly into the one-eyed Saiyan's chest.
"Aaaaaah!"
The one-eyed Saiyan let out a low, deeply satisfied roar. Following his heart's desire, the muscles all over his body swelled at a visible rate, and dark purple veins bulged out. Amidst the sound of cracking bones, his base energy level instantly multiplied several times over, and violent dark red arcs of electricity began to dance around his body.
"Thank you for your grace, My King!" The one-eyed Saiyan kowtowed heavily, shattering the floor tiles beneath him.
Kakarot didn't even spare him a second glance, waving his hand dismissively as if shooing away a fly.
At almost the same moment.
In the space surrounding Planet Vegeta, space twisted violently.
A streamlined super-light-speed ship tore through the curvature of space and hovered abruptly in the vacuum.
Trunks looked down through the porthole, gasping in shock.
The sight before him was enough to make one's scalp tingle. In the outer space of Planet Vegeta, hundreds of thousands of heavy interstellar warships were hovering. The dense fleet of ships was linked end-to-end like an impenetrable steel shell, completely wrapping the entire planet.
Dense red lights lit up in the void. It was the alarm of millions of high-energy railgun fire-control radars locking onto their ship.
"Gohan, the defense line is too dense; the ship can't break through!" Trunks clenched his fists, preparing to flare his energy and charge out of the hatch.
"We don't need the ship."
Son Gohan's voice was cold. He didn't even open the hatch, instead reaching out to grab Trunks by the shoulder.
BOOM!
Violent, grass-green energy flared instantly from Son Gohan's body! An incredibly thick, domineering green sphere of light enveloped them both in an instant.
The next second, the ship shattered under the pressure of the surging energy.
The moment the ship exploded, millions of railguns in outer space fired in unison. Blinding red energy beams wove together into a giant net of destruction, capable of vaporizing a star in an instant.
But the grass-green sphere of light didn't even pause.
Son Gohan pushed through the barrage of thousands of cannons, like a green meteor moving against the current, slamming into the dense fleet with absolute, violent force.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
A series of metallic tearing sounds exploded in the vacuum. The dozen heavy cruisers on the outermost layer were smashed to pieces like paper the moment they touched the green sphere. Fire and debris exploded silently in the vacuum.
Son Gohan was unstoppable, carving a path of absolute vacuum hundreds of meters in diameter through the impenetrable fleet defense with Trunks in tow.
RUMBLE!
On the dark red surface of Planet Vegeta, a green meteorite suddenly crashed down.
The crust of the planet shook violently as the shockwave from the impact site spread madly in all directions, leveling every munitions factory and high tower within a radius of dozens of miles. A sky-filling cloud of dust and smoke billowed upward.
A piercing, highest-level combat alarm resounded across the entirety of Planet Vegeta.
"Intruders!"
"In the Thirteenth Defense Zone! Kill them all!"
The sky turned pitch black as hundreds of thousands of garrison troops swarmed toward the crater from all sides like bloodthirsty locusts.
Half of these individuals were mutated Earthlings injected with genetic serums, while the other half were low-ranking Saiyans clad in black-and-red combat suits. There was no fear in their eyes, only a bloodthirsty madness.
The dust had yet to settle.
Whoosh!
A brilliant golden aura erupted from the bottom of the crater, forcefully blowing away the clouds of dust.
Trunks shifted directly into his Super Saiyan form, his figure turning into a golden afterimage as he soared into the sky to meet the swarming garrison.
"Die!"
Facing the energy blasts fired simultaneously by hundreds of mutated Earthlings, Trunks didn't even bother to dodge. He pushed through the fiery explosions and instantly closed the distance into the enemy ranks. His joined palms struck out like the sharpest of blades.
Splat, splat, splat!
Large swathes of severed limbs and dark red blood sprayed through the air. Every time Trunks flickered, he claimed a dozen lives. Before his absolute power, these garrison troops fell in rows like grass being mowed.
On the other side, Son Gohan didn't even need to transform.
With one hand in his pocket, he walked through the ruins with the casual ease of a stroll, relying solely on his base strength.
Three burly Saiyan officers burst out from behind the ruins, attacking Son Gohan's blind spots in a triangular formation.
Son Gohan didn't even turn his head; he simply raised his right leg and stomped hard on the ground.
Boom!
A terrifying, invisible shockwave erupted from his position. The three Saiyan officers didn't even touch the hem of his clothes before the shockwave shattered their bones, sending them flying backward like broken ragdolls, dead on the spot.
The two of them advanced at an incredible speed, leaving nothing but wreckage in their wake.
Just as Trunks prepared to expand his clearing range, several distinct and powerful auras suddenly erupted from the ruins ahead.
Five Saiyans wreathed in dark red arcs of electricity blocked their path.
"Kill them!"
One of the Saiyans roared and lunged at Trunks, abandoning all defense to launch a suicide attack with arms wide open.
Trunks let out a cold snort and delivered a fierce front kick squarely into the man's chest; the violent force instantly kicked the Saiyan's upper body into a mist of blood.
But the next second, white light surged.
The Saiyan who had been reduced to a blood mist instantly reconstructed his body. Not only was he unscathed, but his aura even spiked by fifty percent in an instant as he backhanded a heavy punch toward Trunks' face.
Trunks blocked with his arm, forced back half a step by the impact.
"It's useless! We are immortal!" the five Saiyans laughed wildly, relying on their Miracle Power to resurrect infinitely, clinging to them like mad dogs.
"Oh? Is that so?" Trunks sneered and raised his left hand. "Hakai!"
A deep, purplish-red energy suddenly bloomed in his palm.
The energy of destruction landed precisely on the Saiyan leading the charge.
The wild laughter on the face of the struck Saiyan froze instantly.
They watched in horror as the omnipotent white light of the Miracle Power within their bodies, upon contact with the purple light, melted and vanished like snow meeting molten lava.
"Wh-what is this! My body... Aaaah!"
As the purple light spread rapidly, the Saiyan was erased into absolute nothingness, starting from his toes all the way to his hair.
The remaining four Saiyans stood frozen in place, terrified by the sight.
The surrounding garrison troops were also stunned by this eerie method of erasure, and their offensive stalled for a brief moment.
In the midst of this strange silence:
Hum!
A terrifying pressure, so heavy it felt as if it would crush the entire planet, descended from the high sky without warning.
Trunks' heart shrank violently; he felt as if two steel mountain ranges had been pressed onto his shoulders, making even breathing incredibly difficult. He jerked his head up, looking at the sky above in disbelief.
In mid-air, a figure—not particularly tall, yet radiating absolute arrogance—stood with arms crossed, looking down at them from on high.
