A New Beginning

The threat of Majin Buu had been eliminated. Earth returned to peace, but this time, people had a new understanding of what peace meant.

They knew that peace wasn't something to be taken for granted. It was protected by the strong, and by everyone willing to make sacrifices for others.

Mr. Satan was awarded the Peace Medal by the United Nations for his "brave stand against Majin Buu." He still bragged that he was "the one who defeated Majin Buu," but this time, no one believed him. Even so, everyone respected him because, at the most critical moment, he had shown true courage—not the courage of strength, but the courage of the heart.

Videl and Gohan grew closer. They often trained, studied, and went on dates together. Mr. Satan still wasn't too fond of Gohan, but seeing how happy his daughter was, he slowly came to accept his "bookworm" son-in-law. Goten and Trunks continued training. They promised each other that at the next World Martial Arts Tournament, they'd settle things for real instead of ending in a tie. Krillin quit his job as a police officer and became a full-time member of the Earth Guardians. He felt that protecting the entire planet was more worthwhile than catching a few petty criminals. Yamcha opened another gym, and business was good. He occasionally came to the base to help train newcomers, but he preferred the life of an ordinary person.

Tien Shinhan and Chiaotzu returned to the Three-Eyed Clan's homeland. They found it had been deserted for thousands of years, with only a few ancient ruins remaining. In the ruins, Tien found an old book documenting the origins and history of the Three-Eyed Clan. He decided to stay and rebuild its civilization. Kashu and Android 18 bought a plot of land near the base and built a small house. It wasn't big, but it was cozy, with a garden, a vegetable patch, and a swing. Kashu planted lots of flowers, while Android 18 grew plenty of vegetables. They lived a quiet, secluded life, occasionally welcoming friends who came to visit.

Fat Buu and Mr. Satan lived together. Mr. Satan built him a room of his own, piled high with toys and snacks. Every morning, Buu helped Mr. Satan make breakfast, then they ate together, watched TV together, and went for walks together. Buu's smile had returned, brighter than ever.

Goku and Vegeta continued training. They agreed to fight again in a year and see who was stronger. Chi-Chi complained that Goku was always training and never took care of the household, but deep down, she was proud—her husband was one of the strongest men on Earth.

After the Majin Buu incident, Bulma's Capsule Corporation received a huge number of orders. Governments around the world wanted to buy the company's defense systems in case a similar threat appeared in the future. Bulma made a fortune and upgraded the base with a complete set of new equipment. Android 16 continued patrolling all over Earth. He enjoyed this life, seeing different sights and meeting different people every day. Sometimes he came across minor crimes and dealt with them on the spot. His presence caused crime rates to drop dramatically, since no one wanted to pick a fight with a robot.

Cell became the base's chief instructor. He trained new members, passing on the techniques he'd learned in a parallel world. His teaching was strict but not harsh, and the trainees loved him for it. East Supreme Kai returned to the Sacred World of the Kai. He thanked the Earth Guardians and promised to help whenever necessary. Before leaving, he glanced at Kashu, a complicated look flickering in his eyes. "Kashu," East Supreme Kai said, "you're already a demigod. If you wish, I can recommend you to become a full-fledged Supreme Kai." Kashu shook his head. "No need. I'm the leader of the Earth Guardians. That's enough for me."

East Supreme Kai nodded. "Then I won't press you. Take care." He vanished in a flash of light. Kashu stood on the base's rooftop, watching the sunset. Lazuli came up behind him and wrapped her arms around his waist. "What are you thinking about?" she asked. "The future," Kashu said. "Majin Buu wasn't the last threat. There are many more powerful beings in the universe. We need to grow stronger." "We will," Lazuli said. "Together." Kashu turned and looked into his wife's eyes. The sunset reflected in their golden depths, so beautiful they took his breath away. He lowered his head and kissed her forehead. "Together." The sun sank, and the moon rose.

Stars glittered in the sky. Each one was a star, and each had its own story. The story of the Earth Guardians was still unfolding.
