Overview

The Gang Realm is a major dividing line in martial cultivation. Unlike earlier realms, which focus on tempering and refining power already within the body, advancement requires drawing in the spiritual energy of heaven and earth to cleanse true qi and transform it into True Gang 190.

True Gang is far more condensed than true qi and represents a dramatic leap in combat power. A newly advanced Gang Realm cultivator can regard their former Core Condensation self as vastly weaker, while even the aftershocks of a clash between Outer Gang experts can endanger nearby disciples 202 216.

Within a prefecture city, Gang Realm experts are treated as its foremost combat forces. Foreign Gang Realm cultivators are not permitted to enter another prefecture city's sphere of influence without authorization because of the scale of destruction they may cause 226.

Gang Realm completion is the realm's upper limit, although exceptional Half-Step True Essence Realm cultivators are recognized as possessing abilities beyond ordinary True Gang while not yet having fully entered the True Essence Realm 387 436.

Breakthrough

A Gang Realm breakthrough requires the refinement of true qi through heaven-and-earth spiritual energy. It depends on the “timing of heaven,” the advantage of location, and the cultivator's own talent, comprehension, temperament, and preparation 190.

• The first encounter with heaven-and-earth spiritual energy is the cultivator's best opportunity to succeed 215.
