Hua Chengming is the master of the Heavenly Derivation Sect's Wood Courtyard. Though his administration is notably lax and has drawn criticism from sect higher-ups, he insists that he has a reason to remain in the position. He views a courtyard master's disciples as the clearest proof of his worth and seeks to restore the Wood Courtyard's standing through their achievements. 153

Before becoming the Wood Courtyard Master, Hua traveled with Murong Yun. Murong recalls that Hua concealed a True Essence Realm cultivation while presenting himself as merely a Core Condensation Realm cultivator; only when the pair were surrounded and facing death did Hua reveal his true strength. 285

Hua Chengming is the Hua Tianming recorded among the previous generation's geniuses of the Dao Origin Sect's Heavenly Steed Lineage. He departed the Dao Origin Sect eighteen years before his return and describes the intervening period only as aimless wandering. Yu Xiangtian considers Hua's talent great enough that, had he remained, the Dao Origin Sect Master position might have gone to him instead. 392
