Background / History

Raditz captures Gohan during his attack on Earth. Seeing Raditz torture Wukong causes Gohan to erupt in anger, break free of the spacecraft, and severely injure Raditz with a single charge. Raditz then attempts to kill the exhausted child, but Li Feng rescues him. 2 3

After the battle, Gohan recovers with part of a Senzu Bean and thanks Li Feng. Li Feng helps Wukong and Chi-Chi arrange for Gohan to train under Piccolo; despite being young, Gohan is eager to become stronger. 4 6

He trains with Piccolo for a year before Vegeta and Nappa arrive, firmly choosing to fight alongside the Earth’s defenders. 9 After the Saiyan conflict, he insists on joining the Namek expedition, reasoning that Earth needs warriors if Wukong and Li Feng are absent. Chi-Chi ultimately agrees after Li Feng promises to bring him home with Instant Transmission if needed. 15

On Namek, the Grand Elder awakens part of Gohan's potential, raising his battle power to 110,000. Gohan later defeats an opponent during the battle with the Ginyu Force, gaining confidence from his first independent victory. 21 24 25

Following Namek, Chi-Chi initially grounds him, but Gohan secretly continues training with Piccolo. His desire to one day reach Super Saiyan, inspired by Li Feng, drives his battle power to 1,000,000. 33 37

When Cooler and King Cold invade Earth, Gohan exposes himself to save a civilian aircraft. He kills Salza, Dore, and Neiz, but is decisively outmatched by Cooler. Piccolo rescues him, and Wukong later returns in time to heal him with a Senzu Bean. 38 39 41

Appearance

Although he is young and initially nervous in battle, Gohan increasingly identifies himself as both an Earthling and a warrior. He seeks training, chooses to travel to Namek, and remains defiant even while Cooler overwhelms him. 6 15 39
