Background / History

Su Yu was formerly the gentle, self-sacrificing chief disciple of Cloud Head Peak and the Carefree Sacred Land’s Holy Son. Despite being a gifted cultivator and a versatile auxiliary-arts master, he was treated as a source of free labor: he supplied more than half of the sacred land’s pills, formations, artifacts, and talismans, donated his own resources, and helped junior disciples cultivate. 783 784

His kindness made him a target for exploitation. Ye Feng repeatedly framed him, disrupted his cultivation, and used him as a stepping stone, while Liu Ruyan—who had privately pledged herself to Su Yu—took Su Yu’s resources to support Ye Feng and his family. 783 816

Qing Mo became the senior presence within Su Yu’s sea of consciousness and began controlling Su Yu’s body. Under Qing Mo’s guidance, Su Yu came to understand the Carefree Sacred Land’s exploitation and stopped serving it unconditionally. By the time Su Yu emerged from seclusion, he was willing to let Qing Mo act through his body and witness the sacred land’s downfall. 808 816

Before Qing Mo’s intervention, Su Yu was patient, mild-tempered, and willing to endure mistreatment rather than retaliate. Even when his fellow disciples slandered and ostracized him, he would simply laugh it off. 807 816

After learning how he had been manipulated, Su Yu became far more decisive and vindictive. He learned Qing Mo’s methods of using status, rhetoric, and his enemies’ greed against them; he openly enjoys seeing those who exploited him lose their standing. 809 816
