"Hey, little guy, what's your name?"
When Bulma saw the Namekian child, she thought he was adorable, so she crouched down and asked.
"My name is Dende. I'm the Grand Elder's 108th child."
"That's such a nice name." Bulma patted Dende on the head, then looked a little puzzled. "So who's the Grand Elder?"
"The Grand Elder is the strongest person on our planet, and he's our father too."
"So that's how it is."
A short while later.
A slightly chubby, steady-looking middle-aged Namekian arrived at the scene.
His gaze swept over everyone, and he spoke in the universal language they all understood. "I am Moori, the elder of this village. I already know what happened just now. Outsiders, state your purpose."
Jiang Ling cleared his throat and said, "Elder Moori, we came all the way from Earth to help our friend Piccolo search for his origins. But after arriving on Namek, we found that your situation was not optimistic."
"Your planet is facing an unprecedented crisis."
After hearing him out, Elder Moori turned and carefully sized up Piccolo, then nodded. "You are indeed one of our people. However, as for your origins, I do not know. I believe our Grand Elder will."
"The Grand Elder..." Piccolo thought to himself, then fell silent in contemplation.
Moori then looked at Jiang Ling. "The crisis you spoke of—the Grand Elder has already told me about it."
At this point, his eyes sharpened, and his fists clenched tightly. "If we are pushed to the brink, it is not as if we have no means left!"
Jiang Ling thought for a moment, then said, "The means you're talking about is assimilation, right? It's not impossible, but considering Frieza's true strength, even if all of you assimilated into one, you still probably wouldn't be able to beat him."
"How is that possible!"
"Trust me."
Jiang Ling stared fixedly at Elder Moori.
"This..." From Jiang Ling's clear gaze, Moori could tell he had not been lying just now.
He fell silent.
Assimilation was their race's special ability. It could allow two individuals to assimilate into one, thereby gaining several times their original power.
Using that as a foundation, if they stacked assimilations, they could gain an incomparably powerful strength.
The price was the lives of their clansmen.
Jiang Ling knew very well that if all the Namekians had immediately assimilated into one person at the very beginning, they might still have been able to stand against Frieza.
But now Frieza had already slaughtered several villages, greatly reducing the number of Namekians. Even assimilation might very likely not be enough to win.
Jiang Ling said in a low voice, "We need your village's Dragon Ball, because if Frieza comes here, you won't be able to protect it."
"Also, since only the Grand Elder knows Piccolo's origins, I want to take him to meet the Grand Elder."
Moori was able to become the elder of the village, and he was also a decisive person.
He only thought for a moment before making his decision.
"I can agree to the first condition. As for the second..."
Moori paused, as if he had received some message, then continued:
"The Grand Elder told me that you may go find him. Wait here for a moment. I'll have someone bring the Dragon Ball."
"Good."
Everyone rested in place for a while.
Bulma stayed by Jiang Ling's side, chatting with him on and off. The main reason was that Jiang Ling was not currently putting his mind on women.
Piccolo started talking with Elder Moori, discussing the basic situation on Namek.
"Jiang Ling, is Frieza really as strong as you said?"
Goku lay on the grass with his arms pillowed behind his head, a blade of grass he had casually plucked from the ground held between his teeth. No one knew what he was thinking.
Jiang Ling nodded. "Frieza's strength is terrifying. With your current strength, you'd only be delivering yourself to him."
"I really want to hurry up and meet this Frieza!" Son Goku was exactly that kind of person—the stronger the enemy, the more excited he became.
It was oddly similar to certain people whose particular kink made them excited when they got beaten up.
Not far away, Gohan and Krillin, those two childlike souls, were having the time of their lives playing with several Namekian children.
After a while.
The Dragon Ball was delivered.
Looking at the Namekian Dragon Ball, which was several times larger than Earth's Dragon Ball, Bulma exclaimed in amazement, "It's so big..."
"Bigger than Earth's..."
Jiang Ling curled his lip. "Then am I big?"
Bulma: ?
No lewd stuff!
Do you think this is the right time for that?!
Just then.
Two meteors streaked across the sky, falling toward the distance.
"That looks like the spaceship Vegeta came to Earth in..." Gohan looked at the "meteors" and froze for a moment.
"That ki... it's definitely Vegeta!"
A bead of cold sweat ran down Krillin's face.
It was clear that Vegeta's ki had left an unforgettable shadow in his heart.
Son Goku suddenly got up and looked toward the direction where the spaceship had fallen, his eyes shining.
"Just like Jiang Ling said, Vegeta really did come. I just don't know how strong he is now."
Jiang Ling clapped his hands, cutting off everyone's different thoughts. "All right, don't worry about him for now. We're going to the Grand Elder."
"Jiang Ling, why are you so set on going to the Grand Elder?"
"You'll know when we get there."
Everyone boarded the ship, and Dende followed along too.
The aircraft rose into the air.
Dende guided them from the front while Bulma piloted the aircraft, flying at full speed toward the Grand Elder's residence!
Meanwhile.
Frieza's forces were wreaking havoc in the third village.
"Lord Frieza, we have the third Dragon Ball."
The pink fatty Dodoria held the Dragon Ball in both hands.
As usual, Frieza sat in his hovering baby carriage, nodding with a calm and elegant expression.
Beep, beep—
Zarbon, at the side, received a message and said, "Lord Frieza, Vegeta has already arrived on Namek. Cui is right behind him and is chasing after him."
"That annoying monkey..."
Frieza looked disdainful, but still said elegantly, "Isn't Cui here? Let him handle it. His power level is a little higher than Vegeta's."
"Yes."
Zarbon answered, then gave Cui the order.
"Oh, right." Frieza suddenly remembered something and asked, "The Ginyu Force should be arriving soon, shouldn't they?"
"Yes, Lord Frieza."
"Good. It's been quite a while since I last saw them. I actually miss them a little. Hohoho. I'll take the Dragon Balls back to the spaceship first. Once the Ginyu Force arrives, you continue searching for the Dragon Balls."
"Yes, Lord Frieza."
