Twists and Turns of Bonus Points, Ravenclaw!
Inside the Great Hall, Dumbledore delivered his year-end summary:
"It's been another fantastic year. To wrap things up, let's witness the awards ceremony for the House Cup. The scores for each college are as follows:"
Fourth place, Gryffindor, 255 points.
Third place, Hufflepuff, 358 points.
Second place, Ravenclaw, 410 points.
"First place, Slytherin, 415 points."
Upon hearing Dumbledore's announcement, thunderous applause and cheers erupted from the Slytherin table.
The little snakes excitedly slapped the table, raised their glasses high, and celebrated this year's victory and the honor of a seven-peat!
This victory was actually very close; Ravenclaw was only five points behind them. Maybe if one of their classmates had scored a few points, they could have pulled the score up.
However, Slytherin still managed to retain their title!
Slytherin performed very well.
After praising Dumbledore continued:
"However, several recent events must also be taken into account."
These words abruptly halted the Slytherin cheers, and a sense of foreboding washed over them.
"I'm sure you've all heard about the events of the past few days. Some of you demonstrated remarkable courage and wisdom in those events."
"So, there are still some points to allocate. Let me see..."
The Slytherin students looked tense, while a few clever and quick-witted students from the various houses seemed to have figured something out and quietly turned their gazes toward the Gryffindor table.
Dumbledore cleared his throat:
"First one, Mr. Weasley. Ron Weasley..."
"He won the most brilliant game of chess at Hogwarts in years, and I award Gryffindor House fifty points for that!"
Ron's face immediately turned red, almost matching his red hair—no, it quickly surpassed his hair color, making him look like a carrot.
Suddenly, Gryffindor erupted in cheers, nearly lifting the ceiling off the building.
"Ron is my brother, my youngest brother, and he beat Professor McGonagall's chessboard!"
Percy boasted to the other Prefect, feeling incredibly proud of his younger brother.
After everyone quieted down a bit, Dumbledore said loudly:
"Secondly, Miss Granger Hermione Granger..."
"She calmly reasoned logically while facing the flames; I award Gryffindor House fifty points for that!"
Hermione buried her face in her arms, seemingly unaccustomed to such grand praise.
The little Lions loved it, and some even almost jumped onto the long table, waving their wands to give everyone an impromptu performance.
That's a perfect 100 points!
"Third place--"
Harry Potter!
"He displayed fearless courage and bravery, for which I award Gryffindor House a further 60 points!"
Dumbledore finished speaking, the Gryffindor clamor became deafening.
A total of 160 points were added!
"It's a draw! It's a draw!"
A Gryffindor student shouted out.
The other Lions immediately realized, "That's right! With 255 points plus 160 points, they're now tied with the Slytherin in first place!!!"
One point!
Even just one more point would be great!
This is the thought of everyone in Gryffindor: just one more point and they can win this year's House Cup!
Dumbledore raised a hand, signaling for everyone to be quiet.
At this moment, many Slytherin ' faces darkened. Had a year's worth of hard work and the resulting gap been wiped out just like that?
But this was the grade determined by the Hogwarts Headmaster, and it was Dumbledore's decision. No little snake had dared to question it.
However, losing to those reckless Gryffindor Lions was the most unacceptable thing for Slytherin.
It would be great if Ravenclaw won, or even if Hufflepuff...
"There are many kinds of courage. We need boldness to face enemies, and we also need courage to stand firm in front of friends!"
"Therefore, I award Mr. Neville Longbottom ten points!"
At this moment, the cheers from Gryffindor reached their peak.
Neville held the cup in disbelief, seemingly still in shock, but he was already surrounded by his classmates, and the praise and compliments left the boy momentarily at a loss.
Harry also applauded and congratulated Neville, but he didn't react as enthusiastically as the others. Instead, he turned his gaze to the Ravenclaw Table, where he saw Lucien clapping gently with a smile.
Then Harry looked toward the High Table, sensing that it wasn't over yet, and Dumbledore smiled at him.
"At last..."
Dumbledore drew out the last syllable of his name, causing everyone present to tense up once again.
Not over yet?
"A young wizard used his wisdom and magic to outwit and outmaneuver a dark wizard, protecting the school's treasures, helping his classmates grow, and achieving extraordinary feats. Therefore, I award him one hundred points!"
The Great Hall fell silent instantly.
One hundred points? Who got that one hundred points?
Now, regardless of which college it is, as long as you get this 100 points, there's no doubt who will win the House Cup!
Dumbledore looked at the long table in Ravenclaw, his eyes filled with satisfaction.
"I congratulate Lucien Grafton on earning that perfect score for Ravenclaw!"
"Clap clap clap--"
As soon as Dumbledore finished speaking, the first round of applause came from the Gryffindor table; it belonged to Harry.
Harry was genuinely happy. As someone who had witnessed it firsthand, he knew best what Lucien's outstanding performance was like that night. As the first student to receive tutoring from Lucien, he understood best the help Lucien had given him.
Immediately afterwards, applause also erupted from the High Table where the professors were located.
Every professor who has taught Lucien knows about the child's talent and hard work; they have witnessed too many surprises in the past year.
Even the usually aloof Snape showed a rare smile, his eyes filled with admiration. He often lamented why Lucien wasn't a Slytherin student, given his talent and humility.
If Lucien is sorted into Slytherin, then Snape can give his own house any extra points without any problem, and no one can accuse him of favoritism. At that point, forget about a six-peat; the House Cup will probably belong to Slytherin for the rest of Lucien's years at the school!
The happiest person was undoubtedly Professor Flitwick, who clapped his little hands loudly, not even bothering to wipe away the tears from the corners of his eyes.
Unfortunately, Ravenclaw rarely wins the House Cup. In Quidditch Match alone, Ravenclaw is much weaker, and Eagle House also has the fewest members, so they have fewer opportunities to score points on weekdays.
Fortunately, the Ravenclaw kids caused the least trouble, so they didn't lose many points and usually came in second or third place.
With Lucien's presence this year, Ravenclaw's scores have maintained a steady upward trend, and now they have won the championship!
"Filius, just like at the start of the school year, I must congratulate you again. Ravenclaw has gained another excellent student."
Professor McGonagall raised her glass in celebration, and Professor Flitwick quickly followed suit, clinking their glasses lightly.
"Thank you, Minerva. Ravenclaw is lucky to have Lucien."
