Flesh, Soul, and Circuits
In the silent, dark Chamber of Secrets, a golden flame suddenly ignited.
The shrunken Liuguang hovered beside Lucien's shoulder, its Purifying Fire dispelling the surrounding darkness and illuminating the enormous serpentine stone carvings and deep passageways.
The Chamber of Secrets remained the same: spacious and oppressive.
Using the teleportation of the Liuguang, Lucien once again set foot here.
Unfortunately, opening the Chamber of Secrets still requires Parseltongue, a language used to communicate with snakes. Some outstanding wizards can understand it through learning, but speaking Parseltongue authentically is very difficult.
Moreover, the location of the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets was really awkward. Lucien couldn't understand why Salazar would put the entrance in the girls' restroom.
Or was it originally a men's restroom, and the sign was just changed later?
But no matter what, it's still strange to place such an important Chamber of Secrets entrance in the restroom...
Lucien shook his head. He had come to find "Salazar Slytherin" in the inheritance space to ask Nagini for advice.
Currently, it seems that Nagini's physical body has been most thoroughly corrupted by the curse, and he has turned into a giant snake.
However, this was actually the easiest problem for Lucien to solve— the Purifying Fire of the Liuguang had proven to be able to dispel the curse contained within the body, although the process was painful, it was at least effective.
Moreover, he could recognize the Transfiguration elements in this "human-turned-snake" phenomenon.
With Lucien's expertise in Transfiguration, coupled with the aid of the Purifying Fire, transforming the serpent's body back into human form shouldn't be a problem.
But simply turning his body back into a human isn't enough.
The distortion of circuits and the pollution of the soul are the most troublesome problems.
The Slytherin previously obtained from the Chamber of Secrets primarily focused on the research of Magic Circuit.
That knowledge greatly helped Lucien improve his own strength and develop his "circuit Transfiguration" thinking.
Slytherin naturally have a voice in the mysterious realm of the soul.
Lucien entered the inheritance space.
The figure remained the same, with long silver hair cascading over her shoulders and emerald green vertical pupils emitting a faint, eerie light.
Unlike the old and ugly statues outside, the one in front of him looked like a cold and elegant middle-aged nobleman.
"You've come."
Salazar's voice was calm, as if he had known all along that Salazar would come.
Without exchanging pleasantries, Lucien went straight to the point and explained his confusion.
After listening, Salazar remained silent for a moment, and instead of answering directly, he asked a question first:
What are your views on the relationship between Magic Circuit and the soul and body?
Lucien was slightly taken aback.
He instantly recalled the time he confronted Quirrell, or more accurately, Voldemort.
Voldemort possessed Quirrell and, after taking over Quirrell's body, briefly altered the Magic Circuit within Quirrell's body.
A grown wizard's Magic Circuit should have been stable and well-formed, but Voldemort's soul forcibly tore and twisted them into a form more suited to Dark Magic.
Thinking of this, Lucien spoke up:
"The circuit is determined by both the soul and the body, but... the soul has a greater influence?"
Salazar, then shook his head.
"The first half is correct. But the second half needs adjustment." He held up one finger. "It's not that the soul has a greater influence, but rather—the stronger party has a greater share."
Lucien: "The stronger one?"
Salazar: "Some people's souls 'shine,' while others' bodies 'sound.' When the power of the soul overwhelms the body, the circuit tilts towards the soul; when the instincts of the body prevail over the soul, the circuit yields to the body."
Salazar leaned forward slightly, his vertical pupils fixed on Lucien:
Have you ever seen Half-blood wizard? I mean, a wizard with a different kind of bloodline.
Lucien understood that the "alien species" Salazar spoke of were actually Magical Creatures in the modern sense.
In Salazar's time, wizards collectively referred to non-human Magical Creatures as aliens.
When it comes to Half-blood wizards like these, Lucien naturally thinks of Hagrid and Phoebe.
Hagrid has Giant blood, Phoebe has Veela blood.
He had previously observed Phoebe casting Veela magic using his Eye of Magic Sight —her Magic Circuit would transform from the usual "tree-like" structure into a special form with a feather-like structure.
"I've seen it." Lucien nodded. "Is it because the bodies of 'alien' species are naturally inscribed with more magic, so their inherited bloodline has a special Magic Circuit?"
Salazar gave him an approving look.
"That's right. The bodies of heteromorphs are inherently closer to magic than those of ordinary wizards, so even if their offspring only have half or less of their bloodline, traces will still be left in their circuits."
He paused, then continued, "But whether a soul is special or not is not determined by race, but by the individual. Some humans, and some other species, are born with powerful souls and possess certain talents."
"Parseltongue is a gift of the soul." Salazar's vertical pupils narrowed slightly. "So too are natural Legilimency. And Prophecy —I'm talking about real Prophecy, not those charlatan tricks."
Lucien understood.
His achievements in the realm of the soul are largely due to the unique nature of his innate soul.
After all, Salazar Slytherin himself was quite famous for his Parseltongue and Legilimency.
"Wizards with powerful souls possess exceptional talent when using certain spells," Salazar continued, "And can even develop unique abilities—abilities that belong only to you and cannot be learned by others."
At this point, he looked at Lucien, a hint of doubt flashing in his snake-like vertical pupils.
"The more gifted a wizard is, the stronger their soul should be, especially if they don't have any mixed -Half-blood... Haven't you discovered any special soul talent you possess yet?"
Lucien remained silent; those magical talents were borrowed from the system.
But my own thought process is different from ordinary people, and if the thought process is determined by both the soul and the body—
Anyway, my physical body, well, it looks pretty normal, but my soul...
Salazar seemed to sense Lucien's confusion and waved his hand, saying:
"Don't worry about it. There's a magic spell that can give you a basic understanding of whether your soul is 'special' or not. You should have heard of it—"
As Salazar spoke, he quickly wrote in the air with his finger, and the words appeared:
"Expecto Patronum"
Lucien blinked. Expecto Patronum?
Expecto Patronum?
