Background / History
Hong Yuan was originally a learned and handsome scholar from Qingxu County, known as a seed scholar of Qingxu Academy. His former friend Huang Shaotang brought him to the Jade Wutong Immortal Realm and signed an Immortal-Mortal Contract on his behalf, effectively selling him into its control 2 10.
After awakening in the realm, Hong Yuan discovers that his body, senses, and strength have been greatly enhanced. Suspicious of the supposed immortal paradise from the beginning, he conceals his doubts while looking for a way out 2. When the estate's servants turn violent, he fights back, kills Xiao Chan, and joins the destruction of the Jade Wutong operation before escaping with the other survivors 5 6 7.
He travels to Yangquan County with Wu Duxiong and Yang Erhu. Recognizing both the value of martial training and his own extraordinary aptitude, he formally becomes Yang Erhu's personal disciple in the Tiger-Subduing Sect 8 13.
Appearance
Hong Yuan was initially a refined, somewhat frail-looking scholar. Following his transmigration and martial cultivation, his physique becomes visibly stronger and his bearing changes into that of a formidable wandering swordsman 2 31.

He approaches cultivation with intense discipline and clear ambition. His goal is to become unmatched in martial power and authority so that he can open the Taisui Blessed Land; he therefore pursues training, medicines, combat experience, and new techniques with equal seriousness 14 20.
Though capable of mercy toward those he considers uninvolved or redeemable, Hong Yuan is ruthless toward enemies who threaten him or prey on others. He intervenes for bullied dockworkers and kills Yan Tieshan's faction, yet he also tortures Meng Yue for intelligence and eliminates the Huang Family without hesitation 23 25 34.
