Background / History

Euphemia was taught by Yotsuba Mahiro during his time as a Britannian royal tutor. His lessons encouraged her independent thinking and included physical and wilderness-survival training; she retained a deep affection and trust for him after he left the imperial palace. She was also close to Lelouch and Nunnally during their childhood. 385 386 446

At sixteen, Euphemia received the Emperor's permission to become Area 11's Vice Governor and secretly arrived before her appointment was publicly announced. Wanting to understand the colony firsthand, she escaped confinement imposed by Cornelia, fell from a fourth-floor window, and reunited with Mahiro. 385

Mahiro confirmed that Lelouch and Nunnally were alive. Though Euphemia desperately wished to see them, she chose to wait rather than risk exposing them and drawing them back into imperial conflict. 386 415

Appearance

Euphemia is a tall, elegant young woman with pale pink hair and aquamarine eyes. Her refined features and gentle manner give her a youthful yet distinctly royal presence. 385

  • Delicate facial features, a refined nose, and aquamarine eyes. 385
  • Long pale-pink hair; she is frequently associated with pink dresses and accessories. 385 413
  • Naturally tall, standing above most men in Area 11 when wearing heels. 385
  • At Ashford Academy's festival, she wore a bohemian-style long dress and a large sunhat. 413

Personality

Euphemia is gentle, kind, innocent, and sincerely concerned with the suffering of both Britannians and Elevens. She is disturbed by the devastation in Shinjuku and rejects the casual cruelty and prejudice displayed by fellow Britannians. 385 387 388

Despite her soft exterior, she is impulsive, courageous, and exceptionally stubborn once she has chosen a course. She escaped confinement to explore Area 11, physically intervened in a Knightmare clash, and persisted with her Special Administrative Zone proposal despite Cornelia's objections. 385 389 442

Her political idealism leaves her vulnerable to manipulation. She initially pursues the Special Administrative Zone out of a genuine wish for peace and equality, but later recognizes that its implementation could have produced disastrous consequences. 441 470

Abilities & Skills

Royal Authority and Administration

As Britannia's Third Princess and Area 11's Vice Governor, Euphemia can exercise imperial authority and act publicly on policy.

  • Ordered Pureblood Faction forces to halt during their conflict, though the moving Knightmares could not stop immediately. 389
  • Renounced her succession rights to pardon Zero and Shadow through imperial privilege. 454
  • Announced the Special Administrative Zone of Japan, proposing equality between Japanese and Britannians within the zone. 453
  • Her authority is constrained by Britannia's entrenched anti-Number policies and by stronger political figures such as Cornelia and Schneizel. 442

Knightmare Piloting and Marksmanship

Euphemia received Knightmare training and is a capable pilot, though not on Cornelia's level.

  • Piloted a Sutherland to race toward the Avalon bombardment site and prohibit the strike because she was within the target area. 445
  • Is described as an excellent shot and capable of operating a Knightmare while under Geass control. 456
  • Lacks the battlefield experience and combat capability of Cornelia and the Knights of the Rounds. 420

Survival Training

Mahiro's childhood instruction gave Euphemia practical wilderness knowledge.

  • After being stranded on a deserted island, she assessed the need to locate people or fresh water, establish shelter, make fire, and dry her clothing. 446
  • Her training helped her remain composed despite initially being confused and distressed by the situation. 446

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Replica Curtana — a replica of Britannia's ceremonial holy sword, presented by Beatrice as a gift from Shadow and used by Euphemia during Beatrice's knighting ceremony. 441
  • Sutherland — a Britannian Knightmare she piloted while attempting to stop the bombardment at Shikine Island. 445

Relationships

  • Yotsuba Mahiro / Mahiro zi Britannia — former royal tutor whom Euphemia calls “Teacher.” She trusts him deeply, seeks his advice, and relies on his support for her political ambitions; Mahiro later revives her after her apparent death. 385 441 457
  • Cornelia li Britannia — elder sister, Governor of Area 11, and Euphemia's chief protector. Their affection is strong, but they repeatedly clash over Euphemia's independence, her knight, and the Special Administrative Zone. 384 442 454
  • Lelouch vi Britannia / Zero — childhood friend and former fellow student of Mahiro. Euphemia deduces Zero's identity, wants to help him leave his dangerous life, and seeks his participation in the Special Administrative Zone. 414 415 453

Special Administrative Zone of Japan

Return to Area 11
