Yu Tianheng's Duel

Ye Lingling feels responsible after Yu Tianheng mistakes her encounter with Xia Yuan for bullying and provokes him into a wagered duel. Xia Yuan tells her to cheer for him instead of blaming herself; she publicly does so during the battle, surprising classmates who know her as quiet and aloof. 17 19

After Xia Yuan wins, she offers to use her family connections to protect him from possible retaliation and then invites him to a meal. 20

One-Year Separation

Tournament Final Against Spirit Hall

In the tournament final, Ye Lingling is among the team members unaffected by Hu Liena's initial charm, unlike Yu Feng and the Shi brothers. 120

When Xie Yue and Hu Liena deploy Demon Charm, Ye Lingling and Ning Rongrong use their shared Illusion Space skill to establish a spiritual network. Although the red mist obstructs sight and spiritual perception, all seven teammates remain able to sense one another's positions. Spirit City Farewell

After the tournament, most of the Imperial Fighting Team returns to Heaven Dou Royal Academy, but Xia Yuan deliberately keeps Ye Lingling and Dugu Yan in Spirit City. 130 131

This account mixes truth with deception, but both women accept it without anger over his earlier concealment or distrust of his Spirit Hall connection. After the bandits are eliminated, Ye Lingling summons Nine Heart Begonia and heals every injured villager. Her healing light quickly restores the ordinary civilians, moving them to gratitude alongside their relief at being rescued. Ye Lingling remains with Xia Yuan during his dealings with the Defense, Breaking, and Speed Clans. When Niu Gao invites the group to a meal and refers to the women as Xia Yuan's “ladies,” she and Dugu Yan are surprised by the implication concerning the newer companions. 148

Ning Rongrong's Succession and Cultivation Pressure

Ye Lingling witnesses the consequences of Xia Yuan giving Ning Rongrong the Aromatic Silk Beauty, which evolves Rongrong's martial soul into the Nine-Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda. She and Dugu Yan quietly wonder whether he has also obtained immortal herbs for the other women accompanying him. 150

The group attends Ning Rongrong's succession ceremony at the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. Rongrong's subsequent fifth-ring hunt with Sword Douluo creates urgency among Ye Lingling and the other companions. Xia Yuan's Second Martial Soul Revelation

After Xia Yuan refines the Ten Headed Fierce Yang Serpent's inner core into the first soul ring of his second martial soul, he openly displays that martial soul before Ye Lingling and the other companions. Ye Lingling is surprised but does not dwell on the revelation. 155
