Zhao Wuji serves as the final examiner for Tang San, Xiao Wu, Zhu Zhuqing, and Ning Rongrong. Their requirement is to endure one incense stick against him. 34

The group cannot overcome his Immovable Bright King Body directly. While Tang San distracts him with hidden weapons and the others force him to move, Ji Yuan’s concealed poison enters Zhao Wuji through his ankle and gradually disrupts his reactions. 35

Tang San exploits the opening to land hidden weapons and strike Zhao Wuji’s face with the Clear Sky Hammer. Despite his anger, Zhao Wuji declares the group successful when the incense burns out. 36

Dormitory Confrontation

Still angered by the test, Zhao Wuji visits Tang San’s dormitory to demand an explanation for the Dragon Beard Needles. Tang San’s deliberately worsened appearance and Xiao Wu’s defense make further questioning difficult. 37

Great Soul Arena Investigation

After the Shrek Seven Monsters defeat the Crazy Team, Zhao Wuji accompanies Flender, Yu Xiaogang, and Tang San to the Soul Fighting Arena to inspect the opposing team’s abnormal injuries. He rejects the implication that the academy’s students should be blamed merely because the defeated team cannot accept its loss. 55

Star Dou Great Forest Expedition

Zhao Wuji leads the Shrek students into the Star Dou Great Forest so Oscar can acquire his third soul ring. He establishes the party’s formation, identifies the Phoenix-tail Crested Serpent as a suitable target, and orders the group not to kill it before Oscar can deliver the final blow. 55 56

External Soul Bone Assessment

After Tang San gains the Eight Spider Lances from the Man Faced Demon Spider, Zhao Wuji examines the bone spears and identifies them as an External Soul Bone. He explains that External Soul Bones exist outside the six standard soul-bone positions, can grow with their host, and may be more valuable than ordinary soul bones. 75

He also orders the group to retreat after sensing another dangerous presence in the forest, placing the students’ safety above further investigation. 75 79
