Background / History

Ji Yuan was a modern man who died after staying up late reading in his rented apartment. He awoke as a fragile Blue Silver Grass growing beside Tang San’s usual cultivation spot on Holy Soul Village’s back mountain. Furious at becoming “roadside weeds,” he quickly resolved to survive by exploiting Tang San’s opportunities rather than accepting his own weakness. 1

By absorbing purple aura dissipated from Tang San’s Mysterious Heaven Skill, Ji Yuan fulfilled the conditions for parasitic evolution and condensed his first spore. He attached it to Tang San, intercepted most of the energy lost during cultivation, and deliberately left enough behind for Tang San to mistake his stagnation for a difficult bottleneck. 1

At Tang San’s martial soul awakening, Ji Yuan used the energy he had accumulated to parasitize the newly awakened Clear Sky Hammer. He then tore free from his original roots and concealed himself in Tang San’s bundle, ensuring he could accompany his primary host to Notting Academy. 2

At the academy, Ji Yuan broadened his network through Tang San. He placed a spore on Xiao Wu after sensing her immense life essence, infiltrated the Twenty-Four Moonlit Bridge, absorbed dried soul beast meat within it, and copied information from Yu Xiaogang’s soul-beast texts. 3 4

During the hunt for Tang San’s first soul ring, Ji Yuan concealed himself in Tang San’s shoe and actively influenced events in Soul Hunting Forest. He drained the Wolf King’s heart blood, manipulated Tang San during the battle with the Datura Snake, and consumed the snake gall. 8 10 While Tang San absorbed the Datura Snake’s soul ring, Ji Yuan intercepted its venom and much of its power, using the stolen energy to evolve into a Bloodthirsty Demon Vine. 11 12

After evolving, Ji Yuan turned Tang San into a deliberately maintained long-term resource. He siphoned cultivation energy while ensuring Tang San remained alive and showed enough improvement for Yu Xiaogang to explain away the abnormalities as twin-martial-soul conflict or soul-ring backlash. 13 21 He later expanded this approach to Notting Academy, its black market, and Holy Soul Village. 24 26 28

Before leaving Notting, Ji Yuan completed a dormant maze and warning formation in the Blue Silver Grass patch on Holy Soul Village’s back mountain. He also intensified Tang San’s apparent soul-power depletion until Yu Xiaogang concluded that the Clear Sky Hammer required a more powerful soul ring, thereby guiding Tang San, Xiao Wu, and Yu Xiaogang toward the Star Dou Great Forest. 29 30

At Shrek Academy, Ji Yuan treated the newly encountered geniuses as a superior resource pool. He infiltrated Dai Mubai with specialized spores, distributed spores through the academy’s well water and meals, and connected Dai Mubai, Xiao Wu, Ning Rongrong, Zhu Zhuqing, Ma Hongjun, Oscar, and Tang San into a growing Dark Web. 31 39 78

The Star Dou Great Forest provided Ji Yuan with a major series of advancements. He stole Evil Fire and dragon qi, used stored blood energy to keep Tang San pursuing Xiao Wu despite catastrophic injuries, devoured the Man Faced Demon Spider’s devouring essence, and took control of the Eight Spider Lances through a root network linked to Tang San’s spine. 40 41 60 64 70 72

After refining wonder-herb essence and the life force of the Star Dou earth veins, Ji Yuan’s demon vine core underwent racial ascension into an Ambrosial Arbor-like form. His range, regenerative ability, plant control, and ability to coordinate energy between hosts increased substantially, allowing him to fabricate Tang San’s apparent affinity with plants while secretly retaining most of the resulting life force. 77 80 81

Appearance

Ji Yuan initially resembles an ordinary Blue Silver Grass blade, allowing him to remain unnoticed beside Tang San and later disguise himself as debris, an insole, or dried plant matter. After evolution, his true body becomes a compact dark-purple Bloodthirsty Demon Vine. 1 11 12

  • Dark-red patterns emerged along his leaves as he absorbed Tang San’s cultivation energy. 1
  • His evolved vines have dark-purple skin, tiny barbs, and internal venom storage. 11 12
  • He can compress his body into a thin layer inside Tang San’s shoe sole, appearing as a dark wooden insole. 12
  • After consuming ironmother essence and inner strength, his barbs gain a metallic sheen. 21
  • Absorbing Ma Hongjun’s Evil Fire charred portions of his vine skin, but he repeatedly shed and regenerated damaged bark to stabilize the new fire attribute. 41 45 46
  • After stealing dragon qi from Meng Shu, tiny scale-like patterns formed beneath his vine’s outer shell. 60
  • Following racial ascension, his core develops Ambrosial Arbor markings and dark-red root networks capable of spreading through soil, plants, water sources, and host meridians. 77 80 89

Personality

Ji Yuan is calculating, patient, and ruthlessly pragmatic. His overriding priority is survival and growth; he views Tang San, Xiao Wu, and other people primarily as “blood bags,” resources, or useful tools. 1 12 14

He avoids unnecessary exposure and knows when to restrain his hunger. Despite being tempted by Xiao Wu’s hundred-thousand-year origin, he chooses to cultivate her as a long-term resource rather than devour her immediately. He similarly hibernates and sheds his outer bark to evade Tang Hao’s detection. 12 19

Ji Yuan is also highly manipulative. He exploits Yu Xiaogang’s confidence in his own theories, arranging Tang San’s symptoms so they can be misattributed to the conflict between Tang San’s twin martial souls. 8 13 21

His patience extends to the Shrek students. Rather than immediately consuming their origins, he calibrates the Dark Web around their limits, draws only sustainable amounts during training, and even returns controlled vitality when doing so makes a target more dependent on him. 78 85 86 92 93

Ji Yuan is opportunistic but not reckless before powerful opponents. He severs roots and abandons expendable spores to avoid Tang Hao, Meng Shu, Zhao Wuji, and other stronger soul masters, regarding concealment as more valuable than a short-term harvest. 19 36 59 60

Abilities & Skills

Parasitism and Spore Fission

Ji Yuan produces spores that attach to people, martial souls, and objects, enabling him to feed, observe, and extend his influence.

  • Condensed an initial spore after absorbing dissipated Mysterious Heaven Skill energy. 1
  • Parasitized Tang San’s Clear Sky Hammer and established nodes in Tang San’s meridians. 2 4
  • Attached spores to Xiao Wu’s braid and neck, a blacksmith’s hammer, Yu Xiaogang’s collar, and other targets. 3 6
  • Spread spores through Notting City, infiltrating establishments and people. 26
  • Uses dormant spores as a vibration-warning system in the Blue Silver Grass patch on the back mountain. 28
  • Condensed reinforced sub-spores wrapped in Tang San’s inner force, demon-vine toxicity, and ironmother aura to infiltrate Dai Mubai’s White Tiger system. 31 33
  • Distributed spores through Shrek Academy’s well water, food, and drink, placing nodes in Ning Rongrong, Zhu Zhuqing, Oscar, Ma Hongjun, and the other Shrek students. 37 39
  • Synchronizes the Shrek nodes into a Dark Web that transfers information and harvested energy to his main root beneath Tang San’s feet. 78 85 86

Energy, Blood, and Essence Drain

Ji Yuan feeds on inner strength, soul power, life essence, blood, medicinal power, metal essence, and soul beast materials.

  • Intercepts ninety percent of the dissipated energy from Tang San’s cultivation in Holy Soul Village. 1
  • Absorbs life essence from Xiao Wu and extracts the vitality and lingering soul from dried soul beast meat stored in the Twenty-Four Moonlit Bridge. 3 4
  • Drains the Wolf King’s heart blood and devours the Datura Snake’s gallbladder essence. 8 10
  • Filters most of the Datura Snake’s venom and soul-ring energy before it reaches Tang San. 11
  • Devours ironmother core essence while Tang San forges it. 20
  • Drains ninety percent of Tang San’s newly generated inner strength during his breakthrough to the second level of the Mysterious Heaven Skill. 21
  • Diverts most of Tang San’s medicine into his hidden body. 25
  • Harvests White Tiger vitality and residual origin from Dai Mubai without initially touching his core meridians. 33
  • Draws natural spiritual essence and amplification response from Ning Rongrong’s Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda. 38
  • Absorbs Ma Hongjun’s Evil Fire, a thread of Meng Shu’s dragon qi, and the blood and vitality of Soul Ancestor Bu Le. 40 41 51 60
  • Drains blood and life force from the Crazy Team through Tang San’s Blue Silver Grass, destabilizing their Frenzy. 52 53
  • Devours most of the Man Faced Demon Spider soul ring’s tangible energy and its devouring essence, while leaving enough power to stabilize Tang San’s third ring. 70 71
  • Intercepts wonder-herb medicinal essence from Tang San’s stomach and stores part of it within the Eight Spider Lances. 76 77
  • Uses the synchronized Dark Web to harvest excess energy from the Shrek students during cultivation, recovery, and physical training. 78 85 86
  • Violently drains a major portion of Dai Mubai’s White Tiger origin through the Eight Spider Lances before preserving him as a renewable resource. 89

Body Control and Physiological Manipulation

Ji Yuan can seize or interfere with Tang San’s body and manipulate his physical condition to conceal the parasitism.

  • Temporarily controls Tang San to incapacitate Notting Academy guards. 3
  • Takes control during the Datura Snake battle, subdues it, and extracts its gallbladder. 10
  • Causes chest tightness, weakness, black-blood vomiting, and sensations of drained strength by siphoning energy and repositioning toxins. 12 13 21
  • Stimulates the Clear Sky Hammer’s origin to redirect suspicion toward Tang San’s second martial soul. 12 13 21
  • Restrains Tang San’s displayed soul power at peak Rank Eleven during the Spirit Hall assessment. 16
  • Releases refined scraps of Tang San’s own inner force at carefully chosen moments to influence his emotions and convince him that he is recovering. 29
  • Creates false trails in the Star Dou Great Forest and replenishes Tang San with stored blood energy to keep him pursuing Xiao Wu while severely injured. 64
  • Can return limited vitality through Tang San’s apparent Blue Silver Grass aura, causing Dai Mubai’s damaged meridians to recover only when he remains near Tang San. 92 93

Bloodthirsty Demon Vine Physiology

After his initial evolution, Ji Yuan gains the predatory capabilities of a Bloodthirsty Demon Vine.

  • Tough Binding — can bind targets with durable vines. 12
  • Blood-draining barbs — barbs can pierce targets and drain blood or deliver poison. 12 23
  • Venom storage — stores refined Datura Snake venom in the base of his barbs. 11 12
  • Basic poison immunity — gains resistance to poison after evolving. 12
  • Compression and camouflage — can flatten himself into Tang San’s shoe sole or imitate dry debris. 12 19
  • Metallic reinforcement — ironmother essence and stolen inner strength strengthen his bark and barbs. 20 21
  • Regeneration — can deliberately sever parts of his vine body and rapidly regenerate them after integrating a regenerative rule into his core. 45
  • Fire resistance — progressively refines Ma Hongjun’s Evil Fire to mitigate a plant body’s inherent vulnerability to flames. 40 41
  • Dragon-qi adaptation — incorporates a thread of Meng Shu’s dragon qi, developing scale-like markings and improved structural resilience. 60

Poison and Hallucination

Ji Yuan uses toxins selectively to weaken, confuse, or steer targets without openly revealing himself.

  • Releases colorless hallucinogenic poison that causes Xiao Chenyu’s punch to miss Tang San. 15
  • Uses irritant toxin and Clear Sky Hammer stimulation to worsen Tang San’s reaction to Su Yuntao’s Spirit Hall recruitment. 17
  • Poisons Zhou Ming through a thorn beneath the arena, combining Datura Snake venom, hallucinogenic toxin, and metallic essence to disrupt his aim. 23
  • Leaves residual toxins in targets rather than killing them when they remain useful. 16
  • Uses drowsiness toxin to prevent Tang San from investigating suspicious residue in the Twenty-Four Moonlit Bridge. 45
  • Stages Bu Le’s drained corpse with decayed poisonous residue so Zhao Wuji and the others attribute the death to an Evil Soul Master. 51
  • Uses Man Faced Demon Spider venom and devouring influence through the Eight Spider Lances to obstruct the return of blood vitality from Dai Mubai’s wounded shoulder. 89

Devouring Law and Eight Spider Lance Control

After absorbing the Man Faced Demon Spider’s essence, Ji Yuan incorporates its devouring law and gains decisive hidden influence over Tang San’s External Soul Bone.

  • Repeatedly cycles and strips the Man Faced Demon Spider’s lingering devouring will until only its life-stealing operational law remains. 70
  • Hollowed out most of Tang San’s third soul ring while retaining enough of its shell and power for Tang San to continue using it. 71
  • Extends roots into the bone cavities of the Eight Spider Lances, stabilizing their Soul Power channels through his shared Man Faced Demon Spider origin. 72
  • Controls the lances through a root network linked to Tang San’s spine; Tang San’s commands function only while Ji Yuan cooperates. 72
  • Can cause the lances to deviate, extend unpredictably, or direct their venomous and devouring tips toward a selected target. 72 89

Ambrosial Arbor and Plant Dominion

Ji Yuan’s later racial ascension converts his core from a purely predatory vine into an Ambrosial Arbor-like root system linked to plants and earth veins.

  • Refines Star Dou wonder-herb essence, plant life force, and earth-vein energy into his main root and the cavities of the Eight Spider Lances. 77
  • Extends perception through nearby vegetation and the residual life aura within buildings over an area of roughly one hundred meters. 80
  • Causes surrounding plants to bow toward Tang San and fabricates the appearance that Tang San’s Blue Silver Grass has gained exceptional plant affinity. 75 76 81
  • Intercepts most life force gathered through this apparent affinity, sending only a limited portion to Tang San’s dantian. 81
  • Uses Ambrosial Arbor Root vitality to repair or stabilize damaged host meridians, allowing him to convert healing into leverage. 92 93
  • Prepares conductive spores within Tang San’s Blue Silver Grass to channel lightning from Yu Tianheng’s Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon martial soul into the ground. 94

Perception and Technique Theft

Ji Yuan gathers information through spores and reproduces observed force patterns.

  • Reads and memorizes Yu Xiaogang’s soul-beast knowledge through the Twenty-Four Moonlit Bridge. 4
  • Uses spores around Soul Hunting Forest to detect insects, grass movement, and approaching threats. 7
  • Studies Tang San’s forging motions and begins adapting the force path of Disorder Splitting Wind to his vines. 12
  • Steals most of the core force trajectories of Xiao Wu’s Eight-Stage Throw. 22
  • Records the circulation of Dai Mubai’s White Tiger blood and vitality, Ning Rongrong’s amplification response, Ma Hongjun’s Evil Fire, Oscar’s life-force properties, and Zhu Zhuqing’s concealment-oriented shadow attribute through the Dark Web. 75 78
  • Learns how to exploit the operational patterns of the Man Faced Demon Spider’s devouring ability. 70
  • Uses root and plant networks to sense intrusions, terrain vibrations, and the flow of life force across a wide area. 28 80 81

Equipment / Items

  • Tang San’s shoe sole — Ji Yuan’s primary mobile hiding place after leaving Holy Soul Village. 7 12
  • Twenty-Four Moonlit Bridge — infiltrated through spores; used to access stored soul beast meat and Yu Xiaogang’s books. 3 4
  • Blacksmith’s hammer — contains a child spore that extends Ji Yuan’s senses into Shi San’s shop. 6 17
  • Holy Soul Village back mountain grass patch — tainted with Ji Yuan’s aura and poison; developed as a dormant warning network and potential base. 27 28
  • Shrek Academy well and water channels — covert distribution route through which Ji Yuan spreads spores to the academy’s students. 37 39
  • Tang San’s Eight Spider Lances — externally appear to be Tang San’s soul bone, but their internal Soul Power channels and devouring function are secretly controlled by Ji Yuan’s roots. 72 89
  • Ambrosial Arbor Root network — Ji Yuan’s evolved subterranean root system, used to collect life force, connect hosts, and provide conditional vitality to Dai Mubai. 80 92 93

Relationships

  • Tang San — Primary host and principal “blood bag.” Ji Yuan parasitizes his Clear Sky Hammer, meridians, and cultivation, repeatedly drains his power, manipulates his body, and secretly controls the devouring function of his Eight Spider Lances while keeping him alive for future gain. 1 2 10 13 21 70 72
  • Xiao Wu — Secondary long-term resource. Ji Yuan places spores on her after detecting her extraordinarily dense life essence and later steals elements of her Eight-Stage Throw. Her hundred-thousand-year origin remains the most valuable source in his Dark Web, though he continues to avoid consuming her outright. 3 12 14 22 75
  • Yu Xiaogang — Unwitting cover for Ji Yuan’s actions. Ji Yuan exploits Yu Xiaogang’s theories and concern for Tang San to make parasitic symptoms appear to be twin-martial-soul complications. 4 5 8 13 21
  • Tang Hao — A major threat who senses Ji Yuan’s presence. Ji Yuan enters extreme hibernation and disguises himself as shoe debris to avoid detection. 2 19
  • Su Yuntao — Target of indirect manipulation; Ji Yuan aggravates Tang San’s irritation during Su Yuntao’s recruitment attempt, driving a wedge between Tang San and Spirit Hall. 17
  • Notting Academy students — Auxiliary energy source. Ji Yuan spreads spores among them and draws scattered soul power from their fear and frustration. 21 24
  • Dai Mubai — A high-value White Tiger blood bag and major Dark Web node. Ji Yuan infiltrates him with specialized spores, repeatedly harvests his White Tiger vitality, drains a large share of his origin through the Eight Spider Lances, and then makes his recovery dependent on remaining close to Tang San. 31 33 78 89 92 93
  • Ning Rongrong — A top-tier support-energy source. Ji Yuan’s spores exploit the overflow and amplification response of her Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda, though its defensive nature prevents him from directly invading her core origin. 34 35 38
  • Zhu Zhuqing — A suspicious potential host. She notices Ji Yuan’s shed vine skin, senses abnormal roots and plant reactions around Tang San, and repeatedly suspects that Tang San has been parasitized by a plant. 39 46 59 75 76
  • Ma Hongjun — A source of unstable Evil Fire. Ji Yuan uses spores and underground roots to siphon his mutated flame, turning Ma Hongjun’s martial-soul backlash into Ji Yuan’s developing fire resistance. 40 41
  • Oscar — A Dark Web node whose food-type martial soul provides gentle life-force and recovery properties for Ji Yuan’s network. 34 75 78
  • Zhao Wuji — A dangerous Shrek authority figure. Ji Yuan attempts to test poison around him but remains wary of his power and of Shrek’s underground detection formation. 34 36
  • Meng Shu — A powerful external threat and source of dragon qi. Ji Yuan steals only a thread of his martial-soul aura before severing roots to escape discovery. 59 60
  • Yu Tianheng — A future target whose Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon martial soul may supply Ji Yuan with lightning resistance and dragon-bloodline power. 94
