Seeing Jaco's reaction, Li Ming felt helpless as well. The Saiyans were basically branded with Frieza's mark now; it would not be easy to shake that off. After explaining for a long time, Li Ming only managed to make Jaco reluctantly believe him.
"..."
Speechlessly watching Jaco move to sit farther away, Li Ming asked, "So, who exactly is going to Earth?"
"It's Slug, a Namekian. No, wait, you're the Saiyan who fought Frieza a year ago!"
Watching Jaco spring back to his feet again, Li Ming felt utterly powerless. Just how long was this guy's delay in processing things?
In a way, the Galactic King was also a genius, having found people like Jaco and Merus and gotten them both to serve in the Galactic Patrol.
"Mm."
Li Ming nodded without denying it, then asked, "Can you determine when he'll arrive? And can you confirm that it's only Slug, and Frieza won't appear?"
"That much can be confirmed. Hey, what's with that look? I'm Super Elite Jaco!... No, wait, you're a Saiyan. I'm not helping you!"
"So, you don't want to save Tights?"
Li Ming tossed out the question casually, and Jaco immediately fell silent. Li Ming then added, "I don't really care. Even if Earth is destroyed, Frieza can't threaten me anyway."
Li Ming had said that deliberately, but not solely to make Jaco believe him. If Earth was destroyed, they could simply restore it with Namek's Dragon Balls. As for Slug, he no longer posed a threat to Li Ming.
Jaco said indignantly, "Damn it, Saiyans really are all barbarians. Fine, I get it. I won't arrest you, and I'll give you Frieza's intelligence too."
"Pleasure working with you."
Li Ming smiled. Now everything was in place. What he needed was not the Galactic Patrol's strength; he only needed to ensure that the Galactic Patrol would not stand on Frieza's side.
Frieza might still be a threat for now, but as Li Ming's strength increased, Frieza's deterrence was fading. On the contrary, someone like Merus made Li Ming warier.
Therefore, so long as their interests did not clash, Li Ming had no intention of becoming enemies with the Galactic Patrol.
"Alright, let's discuss how to reach Earth before they do." Jaco's intelligence finally kicked in as he looked toward Hu Su, the wise man.
"Unfortunately."
The wise man looked at the two of them and said, "Our abilities cannot help you reach Earth directly. However, I trust that you already have your own plan."
"Mm, then we'll take our leave. Thank you for your help during this time."
Li Ming nodded, then said to Jaco, "Come with me. We need to act quickly."
Jaco did not understand what was going on, but with no other choice, he could only follow Li Ming out. His purpose in coming here had been to save Tights. Now that he had found Li Ming, his mission could be considered more than accomplished.
Although he still cared greatly about the fact that Li Ming was a Saiyan, Jaco did not pursue it any further. A year ago, it had been they who provided Frieza with the intelligence. When all was said and done, they had set Li Ming up; bringing it out into the open would benefit no one.
Back aboard the spaceship, Li Ming had Kainsen search for several of the nearest routes and obtained the fastest plan for reaching Earth.
"Wait."
Jaco looked at the star map before him and interrupted Kainsen and Li Ming's conversation. "This route is farther, isn't it? I can take you directly through the galactic core. That'll be much faster. We might even make it in time."
"There's no need. I have a faster method."
"Hm?"
Naturally, Jaco did not believe him. But an hour later, when they were standing in the spaceport on Giant Forest Planet, Jaco was left utterly bewildered.
It was not until Li Ming called out to him that Jaco came back to his senses.
"Jaco, help me confirm the situation on Kefida Planet."
"Kefida Planet is one of Frieza's planets. What are you planning to do?"
Jaco suddenly became wary. "Although this planet was invaded by Frieza, it hasn't suffered too much destruction. As long as we avoid it, we won't draw Frieza's attention."
"You don't need to worry about that. Just give me the specifics on Kefida Planet. Can you confirm whether Frieza is there?"
Kainsen could have handled this as well, but it would take time. Naturally, it was better to make use of the Galactic Patrol's resources if possible.
"..."
Jaco wore a conflicted expression. In principle, he did not want to help Li Ming. Just like when the Galactic King had provided Frieza with intelligence, Jaco had not understood it at first either.
However, after weighing things up, Jaco still used the Galactic Patrol's internal intelligence system to pull up information on Kefida Planet.
"At present, Tag, one of Frieza's subordinates, is guarding it. Other than that, there are only some minor grunts. This guy is an old hand among Frieza's men. Although his status is below the Ginyu Force's, his strength should not be underestimated."
"Kainsen, head for Kefida Planet."
"Yes."
Li Ming had not really been listening at all. He immediately prepared to head for Kefida Planet. To him, knowing that Frieza was not there was enough; everything else was insignificant.
"Hey! Listen to me!"
Jaco said frantically, "It's going to be dangerous if you rush in like this!"
Boom!
The spaceship immediately set off. Throughout the journey, Jaco kept rambling, trying to make Li Ming understand the seriousness of the situation, but the latter was completely unaffected.
"Hey."
Babas looked at Jaco's serious expression and asked curiously, "Mr. Jaco, right? Is this Tag really that strong?"
"Hmph! I am Super Elite Jaco, an officer of the Galactic Patrol!"
Another classic opening line, but at least someone had finally responded to him. Jaco was delighted and hurriedly said, "Tag may not be part of Frieza's special forces, but his power level is as high as 20,000. He's as strong as a monster!"
"Uh... 20,000?"
Babas looked stunned. Thinking he had been frightened, Jaco continued, "Of course, the Galactic Patrol's records can't be wrong. That guy isn't easy to deal with, so I advise you to take another route to Earth. There's no need to go to Kefida Planet."
"This..."
Babas wanted to tell Jaco that his own power level had already exceeded 50,000, but before the words could leave his mouth, Kulunxi patted him on the shoulder.
"Captain, the boss is looking for you."
At the mention of Li Ming, Babas did not dare delay. Turning around, he said, "Oh, I'm going right away."
"Hey! Were you even listening to what I said?!" Watching Babas walk away just like that, Jaco lost his mind again.
Kulunxi looked over at him curiously. Jaco could only repeat what he had just said, but the result was more or less the same. Her eyes darted, and she deliberately chose not to tell Jaco the truth before leaving directly.
In the end, Jaco completely gave up. He thought he needed to find a chance to escape this spaceship, but then another thought struck him—his own ship was still on Yardrat!
On Kefida Planet, Tag was ordering a group of Kofians to manufacture spaceships. As inhabitants of an invaded planet, the Kofians themselves had also become slaves.
Even the smallest mistake could bring disaster.
"Trash!"
Tag was a tall alien. The Kofians were as weak as children before him. One of them had merely bumped into him by accident, yet Tag grabbed him by the neck and lifted him straight into the air.
With a vicious expression, he stared at the little one before him. Ignoring his pleas and the others' attempts to stop him, he sent him flying with one punch, leaving him severely injured.
"Hmph! Send him to another planet. This piece of trash is useless now."
"Yes!"
An alien nearby stepped forward and took the Kofian away. As for where he would be sent, no one knew.
"Listen up!"
Inside the massive metal structure, the Kofians building the spaceships all stopped what they were doing. Some of them were only children, while even more were Kofians so emaciated they were little more than skin and bones.
Tag stepped onto a raised platform and swept his gaze over the surroundings. In a rough voice, he said, "This batch of ships must be completed as soon as possible. I don't care what methods you use—anyone who resists will end up dead!"
Driven by fear and hunger, everyone trembled instinctively. Even the few Kofians whose eyes remained resolute could only lower their heads, not daring to resist.
At this point, resistance was no longer simply a matter of dying. More importantly, it would drag their fellow clansmen down with them.
