Background / History

Goku is encountered after Li Ming defeats King Piccolo. Though injured from his battle with Piccolo, he remains focused on reviving the dead after learning that Shenron has been killed. He resolves to travel to Korin Tower and then the Lookout, accompanied by Li Ming. His immediate curiosity about Li Ming centers on their shared Saiyan tails. 2

At the Lookout, Goku trains under Mr. Popo alongside Li Ming. He completes the initial silent-pursuit exercise after one month, gaining stronger control over his ki. 3

Three years later, Goku reunites with his friends for the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament. He has grown substantially taller and eagerly seeks a match with Li Ming. 6 He defeats Chi-Chi with a single air-punch, then recognizes her identity and honors his earlier promise to marry her. 7

Goku later becomes the father of Gohan. During a meeting with Li Ming at Mount Paozu, Gohan is nearly thrown from his stroller; the infant releases a powerful burst of ki, and Li Ming catches him. 10

Following his death, Goku warns his friends that new enemies will arrive on Earth within a year. Kami takes him to the Other World for training under King Kai. 44
