A Jealous Woman Is Truly Terrifying

"Wife, I was wrong. Please forgive me!" Early that morning, Lin Yu saw Shiho Miyano come out of the room and hurriedly spoke.

Lin Yu had knelt on the floor all night without sleeping. Dark circles rimmed his eyes, and he looked utterly haggard. His waist ached unbearably as well, after the intense battle he had gone through yesterday.

"Hmph! I can forgive you, but you have to take me shopping today. And I've already decided—I'm changing my name to Ai Haibara. It sounds much better than Shiho Miyano." There was obvious dissatisfaction and reproach in her tone. Her man really was an incurable womanizer. Yet when she saw the dark circles beneath Lin Yu's eyes, a pang of heartache rose within her.

Hearing Shiho Miyano's words, Lin Yu smiled. "All right, my Lady Ai. As long as you're happy. Shall we head out now?" As he spoke, he took Shiho Miyano's hand and walked toward the door.

Seeing Ran Mouri looking listless, Sonoko Suzuki asked with concern, "Ran, what's wrong with you today? You look so out of it!"

Ran Mouri raised her head and forced a smile. "N-Nothing! Maybe I've caught a bit of a cold lately."

However, as Ran Mouri's best friend, Sonoko Suzuki saw through her lie at once. How could such a lousy excuse possibly fool her? So Sonoko asked, "Ran! Tell me honestly, did something happen? Did that bastard Shinichi bully you? If he did, I'll go settle the score with him right now and beat him up!"

Faced with her best friend's questioning, Ran Mouri sighed helplessly and told Sonoko Suzuki everything exactly as it had happened.

"What?! Ran, you slept with another man?!" Sonoko Suzuki was so shocked she nearly jumped up, letting out a loud scream.

"Sonoko! Keep your voice down!" Ran Mouri hurriedly covered Sonoko Suzuki's mouth, afraid someone else might hear.

Sonoko Suzuki blinked, still seeming unable to believe it. But when she saw Ran Mouri's serious expression, she finally accepted the fact. Frowning, she asked worriedly, "Then what are you going to do now? How are you planning to explain this to Shinichi?"

Ran Mouri gave a bitter smile and shook her head, her heart full of conflict. She did not know how to face Shinichi. If she told him the truth, would he be hurt or angry? But if she did not tell him, would she be deceiving him forever?

Sonoko put her hands on her hips. "All right, Ran, stop thinking about all that upsetting stuff! There's a super good movie playing here today. Let's go watch it together—it'll be a good chance to relax." As she spoke, she grabbed Ran's hand, eager to drag her off to the cinema.

"Mm!" Ran Mouri nodded lightly in agreement.

Sonoko leaned close to Ran Mouri's ear with a mysterious look. "Ran, let me tell you a secret. Yesterday, my dad received some special news. Apparently, someone blasted a huge crater hundreds of meters wide with a single finger. Do you believe that?" Her voice carried a hint of excitement, as though she were telling an unbelievable story.

Ran Mouri's eyes widened. "Really? Is that even human? How could anyone possibly do something like that?" Her face was full of disbelief, finding the claim far too exaggerated.

Seeing Ran Mouri's reaction, Sonoko became even more excited. "I didn't believe it at first either. I even thought my old man had dementia. But later, he said that lots of experts had gone to investigate, and there were even satellite photos as evidence." Her voice brimmed with excitement, as if she were sharing earth-shattering news.
