Gohan's current combat power was second only to Gogeta's and roughly on par with Broly's. The two of them should have been about as strong as Gotenks Buu, while Goku and Vegeta had reached Mystic Gohan's level. Any of these people could easily crush Buu.
At first, when Goku saw Gohan constantly reading, he thought Gohan had gone soft and neglected his training. What he did not know was that whenever Gohan gained a new insight, he would seek out his real dad, Piccolo, to spar and test it. Piccolo, too, had grown stronger than before through his occasional sparring matches with Gohan. After Gohan comprehended his Mystic form, Piccolo suggested that he spar with Goku, since Piccolo could not force Gohan to go all out.
So Gohan had a match with Goku, and the result was obvious—Goku suffered a crushing defeat. Only then did Goku realize that Gohan had been right: reading could improve one's strength too.
Goku then went to look through the books Gohan had read. But with Goku's personality, there was no way he could understand them. They were full of things like following the natural way and becoming one with heaven and man. Just reading them gave Goku a headache, so he decisively gave up.
One major reason Goku could surpass Vegeta in the anime was because he trained on Grand Kai's Planet. What kind of people were there?
They were all legendary martial artists from different planets. Though they might have been weaker than Goku in terms of raw power, when it came to realms and insights, Goku could not catch up even if he rode a rocket. In that kind of environment, how could Goku not grow stronger?
Vegeta, on the other hand, shut himself away and obsessed over defeating Kakarot. Why would he bother contemplating realms? To him, realms were worthless crap. Defeating Kakarot was what mattered most.
It was not until the Tournament of Power that Vegeta understood he could not keep following behind Kakarot. Afterward, he comprehended Deep Blue and Ultra Ego. Only then was Vegeta qualified to compete with Kakarot.
That was a bit off-topic. Back to the point.
When Supreme Kai proposed asking Gogeta for help, Gohan volunteered and took on the job.
Supreme Kai ran into a problem right from the start. How were they supposed to find Babidi? His original plan had been to follow Spopovich and Yamu, but now that the two were dead, the trail had gone cold. What were they supposed to do?
Gohan thought of Kami. Kami surely knew where outsiders from beyond the universe were hiding.
So Gohan went to Kami's Lookout to ask Old Kami. While he was at it, he picked up three Senzu Beans from Korin.
Before long, Gohan returned. Babidi was hiding in a remote area of the Eastern Region.
Gohan's group and the two Supreme Kais immediately headed there and arrived shortly afterward.
A white door on the ground in the distance was Babidi's spaceship. Babidi had buried the ship underground, leaving only an entrance and exit exposed.
Just then, the white door opened. Babidi walked out, followed by Dabura, King of the Demon Realm, and a bunch of fodder underlings.
Babidi had known he had been discovered ever since Spopovich and Yamu died. But with Dabura at his side, Babidi believed that even if the Supreme Kai came, he would not be able to escape. So when he discovered someone had found this place, he confidently led his people outside, ready to kill all the troublemakers.
When Supreme Kai saw Dabura appear, he was shocked yet again. Babidi had actually controlled Dabura, King of the Demon Realm.
"This guy is incredibly powerful. He is the King of the Demon Realm. Babidi may not look like much, but he knows a great many spells. He can control people with evil thoughts in their hearts. Those with an M symbol on their foreheads are all slaves under his control."
"Then we just need to deal with those two, right?"
Gohan pointed at Babidi and Dabura.
"That is true, but..."
Before Supreme Kai could finish speaking, Dabura made his move. In an instant, he rushed right up to Kibito, raised his hand at Kibito's face, and fired a ki blast meant to kill him.
It had to be said, this King of the Demon Realm knew what he was doing—he even knew to kill the healer first. But Gohan had been prepared. He shot forward and kicked him, sending Dabura flying back even faster than he had come. Babidi and the fodder underlings hurriedly scattered aside as Dabura crashed straight into the ground, exposing a corner of the buried spaceship below.
Gohan said to Supreme Kai, "I'll handle this guy. Lord Supreme Kai, Babidi is yours. No problem, right?"
"No problem!"
Seeing how formidable Gohan was, Supreme Kai Shin was filled with fighting spirit. This time, they might truly be able to wipe out Babidi and all his underlings in one go.
Dabura powered up and blasted away the rocks burying him before attacking Gohan once more.
With a sweep of his arm, Dabura sent invisible energy flying toward Gohan, sharp as blades. Gohan twisted aside to dodge, and the rocks behind him were instantly sliced apart. Dabura swung his arm again, and together with the cape behind him, he looked like a giant bat.
After dodging two slashes, Gohan rapidly closed in on Dabura and threw a punch. Dabura answered with a punch of his own, but Gohan's attack was faster. His fist smashed into Dabura's face, while Dabura's fist still fell short of Gohan's.
Gohan grabbed Dabura's hand and used the momentum to throw him away, following up with a ki blast. Dabura twisted his body and dodged the blast, but Gohan's next attack had already arrived. Dabura took another kick and flew toward the ground again. Gohan instantly flashed to the ground and kicked Dabura back into the sky.
Then Gohan flashed into the air as well, clasped his hands together, and brought them down heavily, hammering Dabura into the ground. Babidi's poor spaceship suffered damage once again.
Gohan showed no mercy as he unleashed Prince's Tactic, bombarding the ground relentlessly. The spectacle was magnificent. Supreme Kai, standing nearby, was utterly dumbfounded. The mighty King of the Demon Realm was being beaten so badly by Gohan that it felt like a dream.
After spacing out for a moment, Supreme Kai came back to his senses. It was time to deal with Babidi, and this was the perfect opportunity. He turned his gaze toward Babidi, who was hiding off to the side.
Babidi was equally shocked. His strongest fighter was being brutally beaten without the slightest chance to fight back. Seeing Supreme Kai rush toward him, he panicked and fled in all directions, using his fodder underlings to block Supreme Kai while he tried to get away.
Dabura burst out of Gohan's attack range. He was in a miserable state, covered in wounds, his clothes tattered, and even half his cape was gone.
Dabura pulled out a massive blade from who knew where and swung it at Gohan. Gohan raised his hand and caught the blade between his index and middle fingers. No matter how hard Dabura pulled, he could not wrench the blade free. Then Gohan punched him again. Dabura doubled over, purple blood spilling from his mouth. Gohan raised his hand and aimed at Dabura's face. Under Dabura's terrified gaze, Gohan blasted him into bits.
As for Babidi, he fled everywhere. All his fodder underlings had been eliminated by the three little ones, and he was surrounded by five people.
"Babidi, you can't escape!"
Supreme Kai Shin's face darkened as he let out a sinister "Heh heh heh." At last, he was about to eliminate this great menace that had plagued him for so many years.
With nowhere left to run and no one left to control, Babidi ultimately met his end at Supreme Kai's hands.
