Osborn Manor.
The once magnificent manor now felt unusually lifeless.
Other than Osborn Enterprises executives hurrying in and leaving with cold expressions, the only ones left were the servants moving through the manor in fearful silence and the fully armed security teams patrolling its grounds.
"Jack, h-how much longer until Harry comes back?"
In an unlit room deep within the manor, two hazy figures stood and lay respectively.
The one standing beside the bed in a tailcoat was Jack, the old butler who had served at Osborn Manor for two generations.
And the one lying in the bed could naturally only be the master of this manor, Norman Osborn himself.
Butler Jack respectfully lowered his head toward Norman on the bed and answered, "Sir, I notified the young master to return as soon as possible, as you instructed. He agreed as well. He should be back within the month."
"Within the month?" Norman tore off his respirator, his voice darkening.
"No. Tell him he has to get back within next week. I... cough, cough... I'm afraid I won't last that long..."
"Without Richard, Connors is nothing but trash. After ten years, his Lizard Regeneration Serum still failed, and with it went my last hope of being cured!"
"Those bloodsuckers among Osborn's upper management already know I'm finished. Every one of them has their eyes on my position, hoping I'll die sooner!"
"I... I have to hand everything over to Harry before I die—my company, and... the hope of keeping the Osborn Family alive!"
Jack's body trembled slightly. With a complicated look in his eyes, he asked, "The hope you mean is... Spider-Man?"
"That's right..." Norman slowly sat up from the bed.
For the first time, his face emerged from the shadows. It was a face utterly unlike that of an ordinary person.
Normal complexions were yellow, pale, dark, or perhaps red when emotions ran high.
But Norman's face now bore an extremely unnatural grayish-green hue!
He looked like a corpse that had been dead for some time, with even his eyes faintly flickering with green light!
Norman's expression suddenly twisted into something savage and ferocious, his voice turning hoarse and crazed.
"The moment I saw that so-called Spider-Man in the news, I knew it. The power in his body was definitely granted by the correct Super Spider formula that traitor Richard took away!"
"Only the Super Spider bred by Richard can give humans effects surpassing Dr. Erskine's Super Soldier Serum!"
"And aside from the Lizard Regeneration Serum, the Super Spider is the only method capable of curing the Osborn Family's hereditary disease!"
"So no matter the cost, Spider-Man must be captured!"
Even old butler Jack, who had already seen off one generation of the Osborn Family, instinctively stumbled two steps back in fright at the demon-like Norman.
Looking at his master, he felt a profound sense of unfamiliarity, as though the Norman before him had become an entirely different person...

Jack swallowed against his dry throat and urged in a trembling voice, "Sir, have you increased your dosage again? Dr. Ophilia Sarkissian said that although she used a poison-against-poison method to balance the imperfect Lizard Regeneration Serum with Super Spider venom, creating a specialized drug that could slow the progression of your condition..."
"But Dr. Ophilia Sarkissian also said that it could only prolong your life and could not cure your hereditary disease. And it absolutely must not be used in excess, or it could lead to severe and unpredictable consequences..."
After several seconds of silence, the crazed expression on Norman's face abruptly settled back into calm. He said flatly, "I know my own body better than you do. If I don't increase the dosage, I don't know whether unpredictable consequences will occur, but I definitely won't last until Harry returns..."
"So go. Have Harry come back as soon as possible..."
"Sir... yes." Looking at the master who had become familiar again, Jack's eyes grew damp. He lowered his head, turned, and prepared to leave.
He knew that he might once again have to see off a generation of the Osborn Family lost to its hereditary disease...
Thinking back, Norman's father had also been seen off by him when Norman was young...
"Wait..." Just as Jack was about to leave the room, Norman called out to him again.
The moment Jack turned around, he saw Norman toss a USB drive toward him. He hurriedly caught it.
Norman lay back down in the shadows of the bed, his voice deep and somber.
"Inside are all the investment projects I left Harry that might possibly cure the Osborn Family's hereditary disease. I don't have time to verify them one by one..."
"If Harry comes back and I'm already gone, give it to him. Let Harry uncover his own hope..."
Hearing his master's instructions, which sounded like final words, Jack could no longer bear to remain. Wiping away his tears, he turned and left Norman's room.
He could not show weakness or tears in front of his master. He still had to prepare his master's final arrangements, look after the young master in his stead, and live to see the young master recover and father a healthy little heir!
THUD—
As Jack walked along, making promises to himself, the unexpected happened just as expected.
He had only taken a few steps out of Norman's room when it felt as if he had been struck by a hundred-ton truck. His aged body flew like a ragged sack and slammed into the wall outside Norman's room!
By the time Jack's twisted body, streaked with blood, slid down the wall, blood was pouring from all seven orifices. He was dead beyond doubt...
The one responsible for Jack's miserable death was, naturally, Toby, who had just finished clearing out the manor's security team and arrived here.
The moment he arrived, he saw Norman's top lackey carrying something out of Norman's room. Naturally, there was no way he would let him go.
Toby casually slipped the USB drive he had seized from the butler's hand when he sent him flying into his pocket, then walked step by step toward Norman's room.
With one kick, Toby blasted open the password-protected security door and swaggered inside.
However, Norman was nowhere to be seen. There was only an empty hospital bed and the steady beeping of medical equipment.
But Toby was in no hurry. He walked straight over to a bookshelf.
That was right. This was the hidden safe-room entrance marked on the manor blueprint Kingpin had given him.
Toby's hands shot out like arrows, plunging into the wooden bookshelf as he violently forced it apart to either side!
As splinters flew, the bookshelf split in two, revealing a heavy silver metal door before Toby.
