Background

Sasuke was initially regarded as the Uchiha clan's genius and was exceptionally popular among the girls at the Ninja Academy, though he remained cold and dismissive of their attention. He considered Uchiha Qin Yu—later known as Mirai—a weak, cowardly disgrace to the clan and beat him for that reason. 1 3

Mirai's sudden rise shattered Sasuke's self-image. Sasuke challenged him after Mirai's Great Fireball Jutsu proved far stronger than his own, then awakened his one-tomoe Sharingan during their spar. Despite becoming more aggressive, he was decisively defeated when Iruka intervened to stop Mirai's Great Dragon Fire. 3 4 5
