The Halloween feast was held as scheduled, and the students happily ate all kinds of delicious food.
Hagrid had grown enormous pumpkins and turned them into jack-o'-lanterns, each one large enough to hold three people.
The scooped-out flesh had been juiced into pumpkin juice. Kano tried some and found that it tasted pretty good.
Harry, Ron, and Hermione were not here. They had gone to the ghosts' Deathday Party.
But there was nothing there that humans could eat. Everything had either been left to rot or already smelled foul to begin with.
The ghosts thought that would make the food's flavor richer, perhaps giving them a sensation of being alive. Harry and the other two, meanwhile, felt as though they were about to die.
The pleasant feast ended. Dumbledore quietly appeared outside the third-floor girls' bathroom, and before long, Kano arrived there with the little unicorn as well.
"Oh, is he the little fellow you treated last time?"
Dumbledore reached out to pet him, but the little unicorn quite bluntly dodged away.
"Yes. I had originally planned to fight the Basilisk myself today. But this little fellow seemed to have guessed it. He kept sending me signals from the Forbidden Forest all evening, afraid I wouldn't bring him along," Kano said helplessly.
"I'll tell you again, this is dangerous, and it smells terrible too..."
Before Kano could finish, the little unicorn huffed and shoved him toward the bathroom. Dumbledore followed them inside with a smile.
Almost no one ever entered this bathroom, because it was haunted by the ghost of a female student. Everyone called her Moaning Myrtle.
Back then, she had hidden in the bathroom and cried after being mocked by others. Young Voldemort had opened the Chamber of Secrets here and summoned the Basilisk. When she tried to
