Background / History

Tang Xiao accompanies his father, Tang Zhen, to Spirit Hall during the gathering prompted by the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect's challenge to the Clear Sky Sect. The sect elders select the father-and-son pair to represent Clear Sky Sect. 10

Before Tang Hao arrives in Spirit City, Tang Xiao writes to him about the challenge but does not summon him. Knowing that A Yin is a soul beast and pregnant, he urges Tang Hao to remain calm rather than expose her to Spirit Hall's scrutiny. 11

At Spirit Hall, Tang Xiao is alarmed by the scale of its power. Learning that five Titled Douluo are visibly or covertly present, he concludes that Spirit Hall may possess between a dozen and twenty such experts. 18 Tang Zhen later explains that all seven Enshrinement Hall enshrined elders are Super Douluo or stronger, further shaking Tang Xiao's understanding of the gap between Clear Sky Sect and Spirit Hall. 22

Personality

Tang Xiao is measured, analytical, and cautious. He recognizes Lin Mo as a more difficult threat to assess than Qian Renxue, citing Lin Mo's exceptional physique, stable soul power, innate full soul power, and unknown background. He judges that Lin Mo may ultimately surpass Qian Renxue. 21

Unlike Tang Hao, Tang Xiao restrains himself in politically dangerous situations. Tang Zhen considers Tang Xiao's mind “quick and meticulous” and his temperament steady enough for sect leadership, while warning him to remain especially cautious toward Spirit Hall. 21

Though he initially proposes eliminating Spirit Hall's two young geniuses, he accepts his father's warning that provoking Spirit Hall without a viable escape plan would bring disaster upon Clear Sky Sect. 19 21
