Background

Nana is the daughter of Baron and Na Ning, and inherited Na Ning’s Ghost martial soul. Her mother was controlled by an evil soul master, leaving Nana to witness her father’s near-fatal injuries and her mother’s imprisonment. Yan Hongchen healed the Baron and promised to seek a way to resolve Na Ning’s condition; Nana, in return, willingly agreed to let him study the characteristics of her martial soul. 48

After Na Ning was freed from the soul restriction, Nana’s family relocated to a town near the Frost Forest for safety. Nana promised Yan Hongchen that she would cultivate diligently and someday be able to assist him. 54 She later reached three rings, although her father eventually died from the lasting damage of his injuries. 79 93

While leaving Heavenly Nether City, Nana and Na Ning were pursued by Dark Nether Sect elder Xu Ming. Na Ning refused to let the sect use Nana as a catalyst for its second martial-soul awakening. She fought Xu Ming as Nana and Yan Hongchen escaped, then sacrificed herself to kill him. 96 Before her death, Na Ning left plans concerning Nana’s martial soul and a final wish for her daughter to help Yan Hongchen. 97 108

Yan Hongchen concealed Nana in Star Luo City until he could safely retrieve her. 97 When she later returned with him to the Sun Moon Empire, Nana asked to join Ye Guyi’s efforts against evil soul masters, intending to free imprisoned souls, purify resentful spirits, and atone for the evils committed through her mother’s manipulation. Ye Guyi accepted her. 108

Nana is a small, soft-spoken girl who later appears healthy and bright-eyed in a dress. 128

Personality

Nana is grateful, earnest, and deeply loyal to those who protect her family. Though initially overwhelmed by her parents’ suffering, she voluntarily agrees to aid Yan Hongchen’s study of Ghost martial souls because she trusts that he will not harm her. 48

Na Ning’s death leaves Nana devastated, but not directionless. She accepts her mother’s final arrangements, commits herself to cultivation, and chooses to confront evil soul masters rather than remain protected from the conflict. 96 97 108

Ghost Martial Soul

Nana possesses a rare Ghost martial soul, a spiritual and soul-type martial soul whose properties interest Yan Hongchen because Ghost martial souls can allow the soul to leave the body. 43 48
